Illamasqua Liquid Metal Palette

A few weeks ago I spoke about how I had been sent an Illamasqua Palette from the Body Electrics collection with four liquid metals and the response was quite good. When I first opened the palette I thought that although it was an absolutely beautiful palette I thought that I wouldn’t actually get very much wear out of them but in now that I have had them for a while I see that they are very versatile.
Photobucket
The product its self is a creamy and light formula with great pigmentation. My favourite is Solstice which I tend to wear as an eyeshadow base with another similar gold powder shadow on top to help set it, these do crease so an eyeshadow base is necessary. I have also worn some of the colours as a glitter eyeliner, applied with a thin eyeliner brush these work really well.
Photobucket
This would also work well applied lightly with as a cheek highlight or if your daring even worn as a lipstick. This product is easy to build up or wear a sheer colour depending on the look you are going for.

I really like this and will defiantly be using this in the summer especially to gold colours.
Illamasqua swatch
This is available from Illamasqua counters such as the one in Selfridges, online on the Illamsqua website and on Asos. They retail for £29.50 for 4X2g

Sleek Kajal eyeliner Review

A while back I remember Lollipop26 (my favourite YouTuber ever) talking about eye kajal’s however at the time there wasn’t any in the British drugstores which retailed for less than £10 so I never actually tried one.

Kajal’s are eyeliner which were traditionally used in Asia over the past few year different brands have realised their own versions but the Sleek is the first one I have tried and also the most inexpensive on I have seen at about £4. The idea behind them is that they never go blunt; as you wear them down they stay pointy.
<span class=
The Sleek Kajal which was released last week comes in two colours black and purple, I chose black as its more classic and I will get much more wear out of it.

The first time I used this product I liked it, it was easy to apply especially on my tight line. However the thickness of the point means it was a little messy when applying it on my water line and it left smudged to under my eye.
sleek Eyeliner
The picture above shows the eyeliner about an hour after it was applied, it lasts quite well and is great if you want to achieve a smokier look.

When this product is applied it has a waxy texture but is highly pigmented and soft to apply.

Since I bought it I have reached for it every day, it is great if you don’t want a perfect line and its quick and easy to apply.
sleek swatch
If you haven’t tried a Kajal before or have a like them I would highly recommend it, available from boots for only £4.

Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker

I love Soap & Glory’s retro looking packaging but must admit I’m not crazy about most of their products; however there are a few that I do like. One of my favourites is the ‘Sexy Mother Pucker’ Lip gloss which I have; I have it in a limited edition colour so I won’t walk too much about the colour and instead review the product.
Photobucket
I have it in the colour Candy Gloss which I think is only ever sold around Christmas time. I would say this lip gloss is cheap you get 7ml for £8, it comes in a plastic tube which I’m not sure if I like. It claims to be a lip plumper and although I think it doesn’t literally plump your lips I feel it does give the illusion of bigger and fuller lips. It has little tiny shimmery particles which catch the light really well and make lips look amazing, although it does have shimmer you can’t feel them at all. It is a quite sticky lip gloss but not to uncomfortable and quite moisturising.

The product itself smells very sweet and I’m sure some people wouldn’t like it. The most important thing to remember about this product is that it tingles a lot! It’s almost a burning sensation but I really like that feeling, it’s like Carmex but much stronger.
Photobucket
This lip gloss is quite sheer and I would recommend wearing it by itself as it can look quite strange, I often just place a little in the middle of my lips on top of my lipstick to give a further illusion of larger lips.

An essential no one ever talks about

If there is one product which I always use when I do my makeup its Baby wipes, I love them and I get through them so quickly. I use them to wipe foundation of my hands, clean around my eyes and clean the outside of my makeup cases I don’t think I could do my makeup without them! (well I could but it would take longer)
Makeup wipes often get expensive so I use them just on my face and not to clean products or the back of my hand. I wouldn’t recommend replacing your makeup wipes with baby wipes as they don’t have the ingredient to clean and remove your makeup thoroughly enough, but everywhere else apart from your face they are great!

Do you like to use baby wipes as well?

Summer Lipstick: Barry M Peachy Pink

As many of you know and as I have mentioned before Barry M lipsticks are very hit and miss, one may have a very creamy formula and another a drying one depending on the colour. Sadly 147.Peachy pink is one of the more drying consistencies however I love the colour and paired with a lipgloss it can look amazing as seen here.
Photobucket
It is a coral colour which appears different depending on the lighting and can be changed to either extreme orange or pink simply by adding a lipgloss.
barry m 147
I still love this lipstick and am planning to wear it throughout summer; this must be worn with a lip balm and preferably a lipgloss as well. I think this lipstick really fits the pastel trend of this summer.

What do you think? Do you like Barry M lipsticks?

Summer Lipstick: Gosh Passion Pink

If you read my blog often you will know I am a huge fan of Gosh Soft n shine lip balms and I actually have all 12 and I do like a lot of them. They are really light and moisturising perfect for the summer. They retail for £7.34 in Superdrug and online
Gosh lips 31
One of my favourite summer colours is 31. Passion Pink (Can you tell I like pinks?) it is a pretty pink with a light silver shimmer however it doesn’t feel granny or rough. Instead it makes my lips look fuller and glossier. I reach for this one very often for day time during the summer months, it’s very easy to wear and such a summery tropical colour.

Liz Earle Superbalm

I was sent this along with some other Liz Earle products to review. When I first opened this and read the tub it sounded like a multipurpose product a bit like Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. It can be used on lips, hands, elbows and chapped skin.
Photobucket
As I do with everything I open it, smell it and then stick my finger in it. This Is a far harder consistency than I would of thought it is very hard to actually get the product out. The smell is by far the worse flaw with this product it is really strong and to be honest I really dislike it. It contains lavender essential oil which I think may be the smell however it is obviously mixed with other things as it doesn’t smell like true lavender.
Photobucket
I apply this on my lips and on cracked skin and I think it is really good although it is a little hard to keep it on my face due to the smell. It works well repairing all cracked skin however it is a little greasy. I don’t think this is quite as good as Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream but it is almost and it is also a little cheaper.

Have you tried this or Elizabeth Arden cream if so what do you think?

Summer Lipstick: Body Shop Neon Pink

I only have a few lipsticks from The Body Shop and in all honesty I don’t reach for them very much. They aren’t amazing quality and are not very cheap, they retail for £8.
Photobucket
However there is one colour that stands out from the rest and that is number 59 ‘Neon Pink.’ It is a very bright pink with no shimmer or glitter and it is defiantly not for the faint hearted. This is a definite eye catcher.
body shop lips
It last much longer than most my lipsticks however it is also a little drying but the colour is so vibrant that I love it!

Summer Lipstick: Mac Lady Gaga

Today’s lipstick is no stranger to blog and YouTube hype, Mac’s Viva Glam lipstick in Gaga has graced the pages of many blogs and many people are still hoping to get their hands on one. If you are yet to get one don’t panic although this is limited edition it will be around until at least the end of the year.
Photobucket
Viva glam Gaga is my most worn lipstick this spring it is a lustre finish pink with blue undertones. It dries out my lips a little bit but I’m willing to compromise for the colour. I love to wear both during the day and at night it really works for both.
Lady gaga lipstick
If the colour isn’t a good enough reason to get this like the all the other Viva Glam lipstick 100% off the money raised through the purchase of this lipstick goes towards a fund to help fight against HIV and AIDS.

This retails for £12.50 and is available in Mac stores, Mac counters and Online

Summer Lipstick: Benefit 'My Treat'

Photobucket
I have only three Benefit lipstick’s my newest one was given to my newest one was given to me by the fabulous Stephanie click here to check out her blog and don’t forget to follow. I reviewed two of them not too long ago and gave them a positive review as I really love them. The one which I am talking about today is a ‘Silky Finish’ and is one of 21 (well at least in Boots it is.) These retail for a rather pricey £13.00.
My treat benefit
This colour is called ‘My Treat’ it is a creamy true pink, it is wearable and glossy. It isn’t drying at all, it is highly pigmented and easily sheered out to be more wearable for the day. I think this colour would suit most people and is very easy to wear day or night.
benefit My treat
I would also recommend checking out some of the other benefit lipstick, they are probably my favourite!

Whats your favourite pink lipstick?
I'm thinking of getting Mac Girl about Town, maybe.

Today Olivia Palermo is wearing...

This probably isn’t the first time I have spoken about my style crush on Olivia Palermo. I love how she manages to always look classic but still young and youthful.

I love the colours she wears and most of all I love her shoes and bags! She also mixes designer with high street, which isn’t that common with celebs.

Vogue Uk is following Olivia Palermo’s style the whole month click here to see her outfits so far.
Here is a few of my favourites…

<span class=
Not only do I love the Mulberry bag but I love the mustard skirt paired with the navy top and brown bag. She looks so great but still quite effortless.
<span class=
The reason I chose this image is mainly because I am DYING for a fur (fake fur of course) vest and I love that she has teamed it with a long sleeve stripey top.
<span class=
This is undoubtedly my favorite so effortlessly chic! I love that she manages to dress up her jeans with heels and a blazer. LOVE THIS!
<span class=
And have I ever told you I hate head to toe white? So why do I love this? I think its the floaty fabric and the beautiful YSL bag.

What do you think of Olivias Style?

Summer Lipstick: Barry M Palest Lavender

Barry M has about 28 different lipsticks or ‘Lip paints’ and they all vary in not only colour but texture as well. Almost all of the colours are colours I would wear and I would say they are defiantly aimed at a younger clients. They are very inexpensive at only £4.25 and some can be great quality. They are available in Boots, Superdrugs and online.
Photobucket
The colour I have chosen today is number 129, Palest Lavender. This isn’t the most wearable of the Barry M Lip Paints but it is one of the more unique ones. It is often compared to ‘Mac lavender whip’ however I don’t have it so will not be able to compare the two.
Barry M 129
This is true lilac with a slight pink tone. It isn’t drying but also doesn’t last very long. It can be built up to a stronger coloured or applied lightly for a sheerer more wearable colour. Personally I like to wear it under a clear or lilac lip gloss. I would really recommend this colour for the summer if you are brave enough to wear it.

Wooden heels

One of the pictures which brought wooden heels to my attention was Alexa Chung on the front of Vogue March 2010. She was of course wearing a very expensive pair of Chanel clogs and although I do like clogs I thing I would personally wear them (well maybe I would) but there is much more wearable option that kind of achieves the same effect.
Photobucket
Wooden heeled shoes with or without a wedge. However I found that there is very few on the Great British high street and only a few online. Here are a few of my favourites…
Photobucket
1. Kurt Geiger-Carvella £75
2. Top shop WINK Slash Side Wedges £65
3. New look Interwoven Platform £25
4. river island platform strap sandal £49.99
5. ASOS HEPBURN Leather Zip & Buckle Platform £55
6. Dolce Vita Multi Halo Strap Wedge Sandal £110

Do you like wooden heels? Would you wear clogs? Which ones are your favourite?

New £1 makeup from Superdrug?

Superdrug has announced that they are going to be realising a new brand called 'Makeup Academy' where all items will only cost £1. The range will only be available from Superdrug and will include lipsticks, glosses, eyeshadows, mascaras, eye liners, blush, powder and nail polish.

Although Superdrug are calling this a NEW range I think it is the range which is sold in Savers. Many of you may know that Savers is actually owned by Superdrug. About a year ago I went and purchased quite a lot of a range called 'Makeup Academy' and everything within that ranged retailed for only £1. Although the packaging is slightly different to the one in the promo images if you click here you will see the packaging is identical to the one sold in Savers.

From what I remember of the brand (as I have given most the products away) the lipsticks are the best products of the bunch they remind me a little of NYX lipstick. Their eye shadows are well pigmented and the worst product is in my opinion their glitter eyeliners. However it is possible that they have reformulated some products before they go on sale in Superdrug.

I will still be buying some of the products I haven't yet tried such as their lipglosses... what will you be buying?

Have you ever seen these products in Savers? Would you like swatches the lipsticks I still have?

Maybelline Pure Blush mineral

One of my favourite Maybelline products is undoubtedly their ‘Pure Blush mineral’ powder blush. I only have two of them but would happily pick up the rest. I own 40.Quartz Peach and 30.Plum Alchemy.
<span class=
I find that mineral blushers are always a little scary, I’m not sure why but I think it has to do with their pigmentation. This is also very pigmented but also a great quality product. I recommend a light hand when using this blusher and slowly adding more if needed, it is easy to blend. Both of the colours that I own have a light shimmer in them which adds a very pretty Glow.
<span class=
Top Quartz Peach, Bottom Plum Alchemy

My favourite colour is 40.Quartz Peach it is a perfect summer colour, it a pretty peachy colour. Plum Alchemy is a far darker colour and as the name suggests it’s a plum colour which I think would be suited for darker skin tones. I think that on my pale skin Quartz Peach is by far the most natural looking one and my favourite.

I think these are great drugstore blushers and I really recommend them.
Overall rating 9/10

These retail for £6.99 and are available from all good Drugstores.

Summer Lipsticks: Maybelline Coral Pop

To help get me and hopefully you as well get in to a summery or at least a spring mood I have decided to put together a list of 10 lipstick and 10 nail polishes of my favourite Spring/Summer colour. This was defiantly inspired by Temptalia but I will of course be using my own collection therefore most will be drugstore products with only a few higher end products.

There will defiantly be bright colours such as corals, pink and probably no nudes. It will last 10 days for the lipstick one, there will be a new one posted every day but they are in no particular order.
Maybelline Coral pop
Today’s lipstick is Maybelline Color sensation ‘Coral Pop’. There are 30 different Color sensation lipsticks of which I have 9 and of those nine this is to me the most summery colour but I do love all the ones I own, I find them to be quite good quality for only £6.99. They are available in most counties and in England you can buy them in Superdrug and Boots.
coral pop Maybelline
This is as the name suggests a coral but as it is still quite pink it is very wearable. It has quite a glossy finish which makes it even easier to wear. It is not a heavy lipstick not does it dry out my lips, it lasts quite well but I do still reapply from time to time. It even has a summery light sweet smell.
Coral Pop
Have you tried Maybelline Color Sensation lipstick? If so what is your favourite colour?

More Accessories

I went out and bought more accessories, I think its maybe about time I stop as I am running out of places store them all. All but one are from Primark, I like their accessories and find that they don’t change colour as quickly as H&M or Topshops accessories do.
Photobucket
I bought this pretty bangle which will I might wear with the orange and brown necklace I bought not too long ago.
Photobucket
I also got these three rings the black and white one are from Primark, most people have these already and I felt like I was missing out and had to buy them. I love the other one it’s from H&M and was also very inexpensive at about £3.
Photobucket
I also love these necklaces and cannot wait to wear them. They were all under £3 each and can really add that final touch to an outfit. I love the colours especially the coral and how big they are.

What accessories are you loving at the moment?

Boots No7 Beautiful Brown Pencil

As I have said before I am not the biggest No7 fan simply as they are overpriced, however every time I get a £5 off voucher I always spend it. I bought the ‘Beautiful Brown Pencil’ in 10 Brown/Black as I felt Black would be too dark although my eyebrows are more or less black.
Photobucket
I really like that this pencil has a brush on the end which is especially useful for travelling. The pencil is soft and easy to use; it’s a standard size so most sharpeners will work. However I do not like the colour I think it’s too brown as I feel eyebrow pencil should be a bit grey in order to look more natural.
Photobucket
I think this is a good product but I really don’t like the colour and instead I much prefer the colour of my Soap and Glory eyebrow pencil.

This retails for £7.00 in Boots
I rate this product a 6/10

Liz Earle Skin Repair moisturiser Normal/Combination

I was sent a few products to try from Liz Earle and although I like almost all of them the moisturiser is the one I use the most often and it has replaced my Clinique one (for now). I have combination skin which changes almost daily from dry to oily meaning I have to modify my skin care slightly quite often.
Photobucket
I find that this moisturiser is light but yet very moisturising and is absorbed into my skin quite quickly; I usually use this as a base for my makeup. It has a light, fresh, clean scent which I quite like. If you have tried this and think it is too thick there is a light version one.

liz earle moist
My biggest problem with this moisturiser is its lack SPF which I think is very important now that it is coming to spring.

I think I would only repurchase this if they were to add an SPF, otherwise this is a great product.
This retail for £17.25 per 50ml.

I would rate this product 7/10 mainly for its lack of SPF.

Illamsqua Body Electrics Products

I received a surprise package this morning and inside it came two great Illamsqua products.
Photobucket
I have only had a chance to try out the nail polish in ‘JoMina’ it was realised with the Body Electrics spring/summer 2010 collection. The colour is a beautiful purple or a dark lilac, although not quite fitting this seasons pastel nail polish trend I think this is a perfect spring/summer colour and one which I will most defiantly be wearing. The application was great, it applied well and only need two coats. Sorry that the picture is a little messy it was my right hand (the one I am most comfortable painting with) and I am also impatient and never wait longer than a minute for it to dry but t it did actually dry quite quickly. This is quite a pricey product at £13 but it is a beautiful unique colour and I would recommend it.
Product: 9/10
Ease to use:9/10
Packaging:8/10 (just because the little sometimes comes apart)
Price: 7/10

Photobucket
I was also sent a ‘Liquid Metal Palette’ which I am excited to try and will hopefully be able to show you how I wear them on a daily basis. These are very pretty and unique so keep an eye out for that post in the next few days.

I also am hoping to buy a few Illamsqua blushers soon, as they look amazing any recommendations?
