Sheer and Silk Shirts

I have totally fallen in love with shirts again, I use to love flannel shirts but now I love sheer and silk shirts! I especially love the shirts which are slightly longer at the back as I think they look really nice untucked. They are everywhere at the moment and I think can be dressed up with a cute skirt but still look amazing with blue jeans.

I love Lauren Conrad's khaki shirt but think all three outfits are stunning!
Below are my three favourite shirts all quite affordable...
Topshop  Gold Button Military Shirt £35
River Island Mink Long Sleeve Shirt £35
Reiss Oversize Garland shirt £77

I actually own the RiverIsland shirt (which is much nicer in real life) and although I love the Reiss one I still can't afford it even on sale. I love the Topshop one but I have seen a very similar on in Primark for £11 which I am going to buy, however it doesn't have gold buttons so I will have to change that.

What do you think of Sheer and Silk shirts?

Thought I would quickly share a few of my favourite books with you as I really need some recommendations.

I am looking for some fashion (not celeb style) books as since I got some book voulchers I want to buy a few.

Judging from the books above what do you think I will like?
Thanks!

Monday Ramble (on a Tuesday)

Not a great photo but ohh well!

How was your Christmas? I hope you all had an amazing time! I had a fab Christmas, although a lot of people were ill and I felt like I spend four whole days eating, but it was really nice to do nothing and even get a small break from blogging. I do really love blogging but I usually feel bad if I don't blog everyday but for the past few days I haven't (well until this morning)

I have been requested to show you all my presents but the truth is I can't be bothered to photograph them all. I am very grateful as I received lots of great gifts like perfumes, books and a beautiful ring. Below are a few that I did take some photos of including my Michael Kors Watch which someone asked I post about.

Michael Kors ladies' Gold Plated Chronograph watch
Blogger decided to upload the images above the wrong way round, sorry.

I also got some vouchers which I thought I would spend on the sales so today I went to Oxford street which was totally crazy and I actually only bought 4 things. I bought two scarfs from Zara, a jumper from Pull & Bear and a mink long sleeve shirt (not on sale) from River Island.

I also looked in Topshop as there was a few thing I wanted but it was totally crazy in there! I just read Bubblegarm's post about sales and I really liked it and totally agree, click here to read it.

How was your Christmas?

Liz Earle Energising range

A few weeks ago I was invited to an event at the Liz Earle flagship store to make my own Christmas wreath and to see their energising range as they are going to release a new body lotion to go along with it.
At the moment Liz Earle already has a Energising Scrub and Body Wash but the Body Lotion is the latest edition.

The Body Lotion has 19 naturally active ingredients to smooth skin and also give your senses a revitalising boost. It includes skin toners to leave the skin smooth, firm and energised. This product sinks in quickly and is the perfect product to use in the morning to keep your skin moisturised all day.It contains caffeine, gingko biloba, ivy, horse chestnut and butcher's broom to improve circulation.
For best results dry brush (post on dry brushing to come soon) before shower with Energising body wash and Body Scrub. Then apply Body Lotion all over concentrating on upper arms, hips and thighs.
The Liz Earle Energising Scrub contains ground olive stones to gently buff away dead skin cells, leaving the skin look healthier and smoother. This is by far my favourite body scrub as it does exactly what it is meant to do, it even removed most of my fake tan!
The Energising Body wash will gently cleanse your skin, leaving it soft and smooth and the fresh smell will wake you up in the morning.

I haven't been using these products for long enough to see a huge difference but my skin does look far more healthy and all the reviews I have read (here and here) have been excellent.

Would really recommend this range but if I had to chose I would say the scrub is the must have product!
The Body Lotion will be available late December.
Price: £16.50 for 150ml/ £4.75 for 30ml

Whats your favourite body scrub and moisturiser?

No7 Spring 2011 Limited Edition Collection

Next year in January No7 are releasing both a new spring collection as well as some exciting new products which I will talk about soon in another post.
The No7 spring limited edition collection actually really impressed me! Created by makeup artist Lisa Eldridge it was inspired by 1960's St Tropez and includes; an eye palette, lipsticks, gel eyeliners and two nail polishes all in really lovely packaging!
Lipsticks £10.50
Left: Grace Right: Brigitte
Pigmentation in Brigitte is a little more intense but both lipsticks are buildable.
Brigitte is a very pretty pale colour, sadly it doesn't quite work for me by itself but is great in combination with other lipsticks.
My favourite thing from the whole collection is the Grace lipstick and I love it so much and I most likely buy a back up, it is creamy, glossy and a very pretty everyday colour. This lipstick does not leave my handbag and I apply it almost everyday.
Eye Palette £12.50
Indulge in the soft shades of emerald green, sky blue, beige and soft Coral.

As you can see above pigmentation in all the colours is great, the product isn't chalky and is very easy to work with.
Gel eyeliners £10.50
They're are not too many good gel eyeliners in drugstores next season No7 will be releasing three in blue, black and turquoise. I have the black one and think its really good and can not wait to get my hands on the blue one!
Sugar and Spice nail polish £7.50
Beautiful pastel colour nail polishes which will look great against sun kissed skin in the spring.

I will write another post about a few other products No7 is releasing soon.
I would really recommend having a look at this collection it is great quality (as always from No7), the colours are perfect for spring and the packaging is also very pretty!

Collection goes on sale 26th January-22nd March 2011 and will be available in Boots and online

What has caught your eye from this collection?

My Christmas Wishlist

I thought I would write a quick post about a few things I would like to unwrap this Christmas. There isn't a lot I want and since no one knows I want these things I doubt I will get them but I am sure I will get great presents anyways.
1. Fashion books- I don't really mind which ones but I hope to get a few good ones.
2- Cath Kidston Umbrella and BB Case- I'm sure most people don't ask for umbrellas for Christmas but I would like one in my Stocking.
3. Lush box set- I would only like a small one since I didn't buy myself any Christmas lush products.
4. Urban Decay Naked Palette- Why do I still not have this? I would love this!
5. Michael Kors Watch- I feel like everyone has one but I still can't help but really want one!
6. Silk Shirts- another slightly random one but I really love silk shirts and still haven't got one.

What do you want for Christmas?

Lisa Shepherd Salon

A few weeks ago I was invited to the new(ish) Lisa Shepherd Salon in central London and of course I said yes!

I have no problem with trying new hairdressers and I pretty much let them do what ever they want (although they never change my hair very much as nothing else suits me) and I have never had any problem. I rate a hair dresser on how good the blow dry is usually as my hair is so thin it is very hair to get it looking anything but flat.
The Lisa Shepherd award winning salon is located near Goodge street and is quite easy to find, inside the salon is really nice as you can see below...
I went in for a wash, cut and blow dry with the salons art director, Jason Cocking. He has been in the business for 15 years and worked with Mary Kate and Ashley Olsen, Nigella Lawson and Cat Deely. As well as being the colourist on the recent Guy Ritchie film, Sherlock Holmes.

Whilst I got my hair washed (by a really nice guy whose name I have totally forgotten, sorry!) I was sitting in a chair which also massaged your back and I must say I have never been to a salon with chairs like this one! Jason didn't change my hair too much, the length was kept basically the same, my fringe was trimmed and he added more layers which weren't as blunt. He then blow dried it but kept it quite messy and I really liked it (usually I leave the hair dressers and wash my hair, so for me to like it is a big thing!)

The pictures below were taken a while after...

I really like the hair cut and the blow dry! I would really recommend the salon and although a wash, cut and blow dry with Jason is in my opinion quite pricey the prices for stylist and senior stylists are very reasonable for a top London salon.

To book an appointment call 02074679560  or visit the website here.
There are also other Lisa Shepherd salons in the UK check website for more info.

Also you get 20% of your first appointment at the salon.

Monday Ramble

I can barely contain my excitement! Finally i have 3 weeks of university which I can spend doing almost nothing and as an extra bonus it's Christmas this week meaning presents!

But I have been a little naughty and like always left everything to the last minute and still have LOTS of presents to buy I am just hoping they won't all be out of stock. I have a few things to buy for my friends, my boyfriend and my parents. I have no idea what to get my mother, I was to get her something she can wear so not toiletries but not too sure what. If you have any ideas please leave them below!

The snow in London is still here although it hasn't snowed any more it is just taking a long time to melt since it is still so cold. Apparently there is some more snow due in the next few days but too be honest I think we have had enough for now. I know it is affecting a lot of my reader including some which are stuck abroad or in the UK so hopefully there will be no more snow.

I wanted to also talk about what my Christmas is like and maybe this would be a great post to do it in. My Christmas is a mixture of mainly English and Portuguese traditions. For example we open all our present Christmas Eve at midnight, which I guess makes it Christmas day and then we only open the gifts father Christmas leaves in the morning. We also eat octopus (as well as turkey and other things) for Christmas lunch, which I know a lot of my friends think is weird. The rest of Christmas is spend playing games and eating with all of the family, and Christmas seems to carry on for at least two days after.

How do you spend Christmas or any other holiday you celebrate?

Perfect for Christmas- The Body Shop Giftology

If you are like me you might still be looking for inspiration for a Christmas gift and today I came across a great idea from The Body Shop.
This year The Body Shop is selling striped bags & boxes all ranging in size & starting at £1.50 which you can then you can buy all the product which you think the person would like to place inside. Plus, 10% of the money you pay for the striped bag will be donated to women's aid.

This is a much nicer way of buying a a gift as it is far more personal then pre-made gift sets!

What do you think of this gift idea?

Rituals Lipstick- La Vie en Rose

Rituals is a brand I hear very little about and also know very little about but after doing a bit of reading I found that it concentrates mainly on body products, doesn't test on animals and is inspired by nature- which sounds a little like The Body Shop really.
They have stores through out Europe but I have only ever been to the one in St Pancras Station however John Lewis does also stock their products.
When I had some time to kill at the station I picked up a lipstick in La Vie en Rose, at the time I thought it was similar to Mac Viva Glam Gaga but in fact it is a little darker.
 Product...
The Rituals website claims that this product is 'Comfortable and creamy' and it is just that! A light formula which is moisturising and a buildable pigmentation. I think this is one of the better quality lipsticks in my collection although it doesn't last very long due to how light weight it is.
(winter is drying my lips out so much! It was not the lipsticks fault, I had just applied)
Packaging...
I actually quite like the packaging, black and classes nothing too fancy. I also love that on the lipstick itself it has the brand name molded in.
Price...
At £11.50 it isn't cheap but actually I think I would pay it again as you do get 4g.

Would I recommend it?
I really like the feel of this lipstick and the colour so yes I would recommend it. The range only includes 11 shades which is a little disappointing but I would love to try a few more. This is a great product for anyone looking for a moisturising lipstick.

What have you tried from Rituals?

Nail Rock Nail Wraps

Nail wraps and foils are reasonably new in the beauty world but have become popular quite quickly. I first heard Minx nails and their designs but once I started looking I found there was actually a few different alternatives out there that you could do at home.

The first thing I tried were nail foils, which I bought for about £5 (inc. glue) of eBay. I chose to try this first due to the price, it came with a long roll of foil enough about 8 applications and the glue was the same you just had to but different rolls. Application was easy and the effect was okay but a little messy as you can see below. However I really wouldn't recommend this as it didn't last long and looked really terrible after a few hours.
Then I tried some nail wraps from Nail Rock, these are probably the most popular do it yourself nail wraps here in the UK and are also not too expensive.
They come with enough stickers for 4 hands (you can also use these on your toes) and also come with instructions.

These are also quite easy to use, you first file and puff you nail so they are shine and nail polish free. You then trim the sides of the stickers to fit your nails and then heat them using a blow drier. Once you apply them to your nail you can file of the ends. (Click here for How to)

You are then left with a pretty design which will last a good few days.
Would I recommend these? I much prefer the Nail Rocks over the nail wraps (which I wouldn't recommend) they were quite easy to apply although they were all very wide compared to my nails but the final effect was great! When I applied them the first time they stuck to my nails really well however the second time I felt that they were very lose on the end but I think this was my fault and not the products. I would buy these again and am pretty sure you will see a few more posts about these.

This is a great product for Christmas and New Year Parties, plus there are lots of designs to chose from.
They retail for £6.50 from the Nail Rock website, ASOS, River Island and Topshop. ASOS run a special deal of 2 packs for £10!

What do you think of these?

*The Nail Rocks Wraps were sent to me for review purposes,  this does not effect my review and it is my honest opinion as always.

London in the Snow

I just wanted to share a few photos which I took in the snow today. If you follow me on twitter you will know that it snowed in London today, in my opinion it was quite heavy but I am sure if you live up north then you will disagree.

I actually quite like snow and would really mind if it carried on but I know a lot of you hate it!

A pretty pointless post, but more to come later.
What do you think of the snow?
Do you hope it snows on Christmas?

Boots offer of the Week- S&G Tote

As many of you will remember last year Boot had an offer on the Soap and Glory Hat box and it was reduces from £50 to £20 (I think.) This week’s offer at boots is a very similar one starting from 7am tomorrow (17th December) the Soap and Glory Pink Big Tote bag will be reduced from £60 to £25!
I just about managed to get my hand on last year’s Hat Box as it sold out very quickly and I suspect the same will happen with this year’s tote!
The tote includes:
Clean On Me Creamy Clarifying Shower Gel (500ml)
The Righteous Butter Body Butter (300ml)
  Flake Away Body Scrub (300ml)
Girligo Scented Body Moisturising Mist (100ml)
  Glad Hair Day Ultra-Shine Super-Shampoo (250ml)
The Breakfast Scrub Body Smoother (300ml)
Hand Food Hydrating Hand Cream (125ml)
Scrub Your Nose In It Face Scrub And Mask (125ml)
Super Colour Sexy Mother Pucker Lip Gloss in ‘Pink Apricot,’ (7ml)
Off Your Face Cleansing Wipes (25 wipes)
 Giant Super Sudsy Shower Puff

I would recommend either ordering online in the morning (delivery is £2.90) or going into a store almost as soon as it is open!
This offer ends 23rd December, but stock will probably end before then.

Will you be rushing to get your hands on this?
