Glossy Box The October Box

Yesterday I received my third Glossy box, the October one. I am not going to talk too much about the whole concept of beauty boxes and I haven’t even included photos of all the packaging as I have written a few posts about it all. Just click here and here for all the information you need.

The October box is the 6th box from GlossyBox which is suppose to make this box extra special and they say that they have included the beauty bag as a special celebratory gift.

 What you get this month…
Dermalogica Age Smart Multivitamin Thermafoliant
Dermalogica Age Smart Multivitamin Power Recover Masque
Leighton Denny Expert Nails
Stila Smudge Stick waterproof eyeliner in Moray
Robert Piguet Eau de Perfums
Dermalogica Age Smart With beauty bag

What I think
I really want to love this beauty box but no matter how hard I try I can’t. There are three Dermalogica Products all aimed at older skin which I won’t be using and although the products are quite expensive in the full size these sample sizes are wasted on me. I was very excited to see the Leighton Denny Nail polish and it is the one product that I would possibly buy but never in the colour I got (Babydoll). As I have previously said perfume samples to me don’t add much value to this box, do people really use them? Personally I don’t and they end up just adding more clutter to my room. To end in a positive note I do quite like the Stile Smudge Stick and although it didn’t originally excited me it is a lovely colour and one I can see myself getting a bit of wear out of, plus Stilla still isn’t very easy to get hold of in the UK so it is a nice touch.

I am so disappointed to having to be giving a slightly negative review but I just don’t think that the GlossyBox is for me. Makeup is my thing and they don’t offer enough makeup to make me subscribe if however you are just looking to try new beauty products from hair care, skin care, nail polishes to make up then it is worth consideration.

What do you think of beauty boxes, which one is your favourite?

Unfortunately I'd have to agree, just received my first Glossy box and I'm not that impressed, the make-up is probably the only thing I'll use…fab blog by the way xx

I totally agree with the Dermalogica stuff. Most beauty bloggers are pretty young so I'm not sure what they though was going to happen with that. Luckily it's my mamas birthday on Thursday so I'll just throw those in with her other pressies.

I got a blue Leighton Denny polish called Sex Kitten. It's pretty but I really wish I had gotten babydoll instead.

I'm sticking with Glossybox for now but it may turn out that I just get tired of paying for products I'm not really bothered about.

I felt exactly the same when mine came, after the 'hype' over Septembers box I took out a subscription, when glossybox came I was so excited but now my view is very mixed. I won't be using the anti ageing stuff or the nail polish as the colour isn't me (I got a coral shade) but I loved the eyeliner x

i felt the exact same, mainly due to the anti ageing products. so disappointing since glossybox try to "personalise" our boxes.

try out the dermalogica scrub and masque! They made my skin feel so soft and amazing!!! I'm in my early 20's and I think it's perfectly fine to use the skincare products from dermologicas age smart range. I just use them sparingly and about once a week or sometimes once every two weeks! Just try it and let me know what you think! xxx

I think they're a bit of a con really. Those perfumes are given out for free in Boots etc. They'd be better if you could receive things specifically for your age/colouring/preference. But you have to remember most of these things are SAMPLES that companies are giving to Glossybox for FREE to entice you to buy their range. The full size products seem more worth it, but I'd sooner spend £10-13 on things I know I will use!

I got thee exact same in my box an I feel like they could of put different products in instead of 4 dermalogica ones! x

I cancelled my subscription today. I loved the feel unique one and like you, I really wanted to love this one, but its £3 more and far less impressive selection. From the bad press I've seen on it, Glossy just seem to keep dropping clangers, be it broken website, missing products, rubbish products, damaged packaging, I could go on… I'll be keeping an eye on it and no doubt the next one will be stuff I wanted, but I've taken the risk and got rid!

Oh wow that's really disappointing. I'm a makeup girl like you and I don't really see the value in these box things unless they're packed full of cosmetics and nail polish.

The Glossy Box is in Australia now too and some of the Aussie beauty bloggers were complaining on twitter today that the service and products have been a bit below-standard. Really sad as I thnk it's probably a good idea in principle.

I have the same issues after receiving the same box!!

I do love glossy box but i'm totally with you when you say that they don't give enough make up. Skin care is great to try and I love it but make up is something else and I'd love to get the chance to try a super random make up product. So far every make up item in the glossy boxes i have loved, i.e. David Sandler's jumbo mascara, the illamasqua shimmer powder etc. Also I think with skin care it's a but hit and miss, what works for me may not work for you where as make up items are a much 'safer' option. Hope they take our feedback on board. I still love glossybox <3
