November Update

Hello my lovelies! I hope you are all well and having a good week.

Some of you have realised that I haven’t written quite as many personal posts and have mentioned that you have missed them. I stopped doing them as regularly because I feel it is a beauty blog and it isn’t really the reason why you stop by but I may to a few every now and again.

Recently posts have been slightly irregular for a few reasons:

♥I have started a new job at Next, I’m actually just doing a small amount of hours a week but it does all add up. I am quite enjoying it as I have never worked in retail but I felt it was quite important to have some retail experience since I do have an interest in fashion. Plus extra money is always welcomed!

♥As many of you know December and January are always very busy months at university I have recently had a few deadlines to meet and have more yet to come, as well as a couple of exams which I need to start revising for.

♥The final and main reason is completely out of my control- there simply hasn’t been enough natural light for me to take photos! I take almost all my photos by the window and use natural light but since there has been very little I haven’t been able to take as many photos, hopefully I will home during the day sometime soon so that I can catch up on taking photos in the meantime I do have some photos coming up which I have taken using flash.

I have quite a few posts planned though but there simply isn’t enough time in the day! I am hoping to write a couple of Christmas Gift Guides, share my wish list, a few giveaways and lots of reviews!

And I am so excited for Christmas how is it December in a couple of hours! I cannot wait, I love the festive season! I have will add a little Christmas tab in the side bar which will link you to all my Christmas posts, including the ones from last year.
Lastly I’m in the weeks More! Magazine sharing my opinion on some hairsprays.

What have you been up to? What excites you most about December?

Glitter Nails from ORLY

Yesterday I share the GOSH nail glitters with you but since glitter nail polish has pretty much taken over my life I have another on to blog about today. I'm a little embarrassed to say this but after a lot of searching I still have no idea what this colour is called! It's by Orly and is a little pink glitter with lots of shine, these pictures really do not do it justice!
I have the mini ORLY nail polish and I really highly recommend them, I personally can not justify spending £10+ on a nail polish which I will never finish so these £5 bottles are right up my street.
This colour need a few coats but overall I love the effect and it dried very quickly so applying a lot of layers wasn't a problem. It also wears as I have had it on two days and it hasn't got even the smallest sign of wear! If you have any idea what this shade is called I'd love to know, I can't find it on the bottle or online!

What glitter nail polish have you tried recently?

Glitter Nails: GOSH Nail Glitter

Since I have such a glitter nail polish addiction at the moment I will be writing a small little series of post about which ones I have been trying out. Since its the holiday season it will hopefully attract a few of you and help you find the perfect glitter polish!

Today's product isn't strictly a glitter polish but it will give you glittery nails. A couple of months GOSH released Nail Glitters in eight different colours.
They are very fine glitters which you dip your nail into after applying a clear polish to your nails and it is as easy as that!
The effect is different to that of a glitter nail polish as you apply the gloss under the colour the glitter is almost matte although it is still very sparkly. I am in two mind about this product since I can achieve full on glittery nails I love this product but it does have its down sides! The fact that it is only stuck on by the polish below unlike most nail polishes means that is doesn't quite last as long and if you did try to add a top coat you would fill the nail polish with the lose glitter left on the nail. As you can tell by my pink nail the tip isn't perfect this is because as my nails are so long by the time I reach the bottom of the tub the tip polish has been pushed back meaning there is nothing for the glitter to stick to (you won't have this problem if your nails are shorter.)
Left-Right: 02 Gold, 13 Topaz Lavender and 05 Ruby Red
Overall I do quite like this product it is different to traditional glitter nail polish and achieves a different effect but it does come with its down sides as well as being quite messy to apply.
They retail for £3.99 from Superdrug

I can't wait to show you some more glitter polishes!

17 Falsifeye

A couple of weeks ago I bought the Falsifeye Mascara by 17 at Boots. I got the one in the black packaging and as far as I can tell the only difference is that this on is in Blackest Black. I've heard quite good thing about 17 Mascara but I couldn't remember which ones in particular so I chose this one as it was new. Plus, at only £6.49 I thought it would be rude not to try it!
The tube itself is quite small meaning the applicator is quite short too but you are still given a large generous classic wand. The mascara itself is quite wet and teamed with the large brush you have to be careful not to smudge it. I haven't had it for more than two weeks so I can't comment on just how quickly it dries but it is quite inexpensive and even expensive mascaras dry up quickly!
The result

I actually really like this mascara! It adds great drama and thickness which is exactly what I look for. It does add some length but its more on the thickening side than anything else. I apply two coats and am left with a very impressive result!

I would highly recommend this mascara- great price & great results! However if you don't like big brushes I think that this mascara would properly annoy you just a little.

17 Falsifeye is available at Boots for just £6.49

Carmine November Box

After spend a while fighting this months Carmine Box* I finally managed to open it and uncover the goodies inside!
The November Carmine Box contains 5 products:
Lulu's time bomb Flashback night cream.
Made by Scottish singing legend Lulu, this powerful anti-ageing cream will turn back the hands of time while you get a good night's rest!
New CID I-pout Lipstick in pink bliss
Glamour will know no limits once you're equipped with this revolutionary lipstick complete with a built-in light and mirror!
Dainty Doll Eyeliner Pencil in Night Train
This fun, versatile stick of colour comes from the make-up line of celebrity fashion and pop icon Nicola Roberts
Neom Body Lotion
The organic bath and body equivalent to champagne will leave you smelling delightful and feeling silky smooth from head to toe.
Cosmetics A La Carte Brow Ink in Taupe
The organic bath and body equivalent to champagne will leave you smelling delightful and feeling silky smooth from head to toe.

This months box contained three full size products which I found quite impressive however I still think the actual box is far too big! It looked rather empty as the product it included this month weren't very big. I was glad that it had 3 makeup products and I think this swayed my opinion on this months box!

I love the New CID lipstick and have been wearing it ever since I got it, it's nice that it was included in the box as I would probably never have tried it otherwise. The Dainty Doll eyeliner is a great colour and would is a colour most people can wear however as the range is aimed at paler skins I don't think the pigmentation is great and it may not work on me. I haven't tried any of the other products but I can not wait to try the Brow Ink!
Above: Me wearing New CID Lipstick

I am trying to conclude this post with my favourite November beauty box but I actually think that this month both Glossy Box & Carmine have sent out great boxes! I can't wait to see next months hopefully because it's Christmas it will be a good one!

Glitter Nails: Follow the Yellow Brick Road

If you haven't realised by now I love glitter nail polishes and now that Christmas is fast approaching I think they are perfect!

My most recent addition to my glitter collection is Dorothy by Look!* Beauty named after the Dorothy from Wizard of Oz of course. It is essentially both her slippers & Christmas in a bottle and I love it!
(Please ignore odd finger, I was unsure of what to do and clearly this does not work!)
It did need a couple of coats but the final result was a pretty and festive glitter red that I am sure I will be wearing non-stop this Christmas season!

Whats your favourite festive glitter nail polish?

Adding Volume with the InStyler

A few days ago I received the Instyler in the post. In all honestly I was terribly excited, I have tried numerous hair tools that promise volume but most never really work. The Instyler can actually be used for numerous things such as to curl, straighten or add waves & volume. I read a few reviews and all the curls look amazing but my hair is still a little too short for curls. Plus what I really look for is a product that can add volume to my flat hair.
The Instyler is a an iron with a rotating heated barrel, the bristles separate the individual strands while it straightens and adds shine. There are three heat settings which vary from 196C to 140C. Although I have very thin hair I still like the higher setting gets the job done quicker.
Sorry about the awful photos of myself but I thought I would share the final result. I really wanted to add volume whilst keeping my hair quite straight although I really don't like poker straight hair. I love the final result and think I will be seeing very little of my straightener and curling iron as this does such a great job, just look at how shiny it left my hair!

My only two negatives are that it does make a bit of noise (just like any other rotating hair tool) and if like me you usually burn your forehead with a curling tong you must be very careful.

I can't wait until my hair is longer so I can start curling it!

The InStyler retail from £99.99 from Boots and online which may seem a little expensive but if you consider it replaces a curling and a straightener its actually very reasonable. It really practical if you like to travel as you only need to take the one tool to achieve various looks.

For more information check out their Twitter and Facebook page. Their Youtube page also has some good videos!

I would highly recommend it and can't see me reaching for another hair tool any time soon!

Glossy Box The November Box

I must admit that this month I was very excited about receiving my GlossyBox and when I received it this morning I could wait to open it! It came beautifully packaged as always and held some lovely products!

It contained:
Arbonne FC's Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme
Dead Sea Spa Magik
Etro set of 5 fragrances
Nail Rock Nail Wraps
Philip Kingsley Elasticizer
I felt that this months boy was actually really good. I am loving nail art and nail wraps but don't always buy some as I find them a little pricey so was super excited to see get these Nail Rock ones!

I think that this box had three great winter products, your hands and hair always get attacked over winter so I think that Arbonne FC's Ultra Hydrating Hand Creme and the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer arrived just in time. I also can not wait to soak in a bath using Dead Sea Spa Magik Bath Salts!
There were still perfumes samples which I always complain about but this time there was something about their presentation and fact that there were five that makes me see them as a nice little addition.

Overall I think this was actually a great box, I have previously said that may be the GlossyBox isn't for me but in fact I feel that this one was more thought out! I can't wait to see what's in next months GlossyBox!

GlossyBox has also got some very exciting things coming up! They are releasing a GlossyBox for men, making subscription bundles (perfect for Christmas Gifts) and they have also launches a refer a friend scheme. So if you are subscribing please do so through this link.

GlossyBox's are available for £10 (plus P&P) from Glossybox.co.uk

Sleek The Berry Collection

Later this month Sleek Makeup is releasing their Berry Collection which for the first time (I think) it comes boxed up and would make a perfect Christmas present.
In the set comes three products an eye kohl in Mossberry, Lipstick in Cranberry and blush in Fenerry. All the products are matte and are also full sizes. I have been trying out the products over the last couple of days to see what I think I love the colours as they are perfect for autumn and winter!
The blush is matte as I mentioned above and quite nice however I'm not really sure if it works for me. I think if you have darker skins this would be perfect but if you are paler apply it with a very light hand and it does add a very natural flush.
The eye kohl is my least favourite product in the range and I almost feel like Sleek didn't quite think it through enough. The kohl is hard and difficult to use but my biggest problem is that it is too red for the eye area! It leaves my eyes looking sore and bruised instead they should have gone for a more plum colour in my opinion.
The product I was most excited about was undoubtedly the lipstick! I have been looking for a dark lipstick for a while and am still looking. I love the colour of this lipstick and I even like the finish but for me it it simply too drying and you can see all the dry patches on my lips, which is not attractive!

I really wanted to love this collection but it fell a little short. I loved the box idea especially as it is coming up to Christmas but very few people I know are daring enough to wear such dark colour. Also the products weren't quite as great as I had hoped. This is probably my least positive Sleek review but it may simply have been because I wanted to much from the collection.

I really hope that they do bring out some more boxed collections! They are a great price though at just £9.99 from Superdrugs, available next week.

Preview: Look Beauty

Yesterday I attended the launch of Look Magazine own makeup range which is set to hit the high street. The collection has been developed by the beauty team at Look. The colours are on trend and easy to wear, it is 'accessible glamour for everybody.'

Some of the money raised from the collection will be donated to the Look Good... Fell Better cancer charity.

The range is quite big including over 100 essentials including 32 mono eyeshadows, triple hit eye compacts, foundations, eye Kohls, liquid liners, primers, nail polishes and lots more. They will even release seasonal limited edition collections!

All the products appear to be good quality and the packaging is beautiful! I can not wait to try out some of the products in particular the glitter polishes, lipsticks and blushers!

All products are very affordable ranging form £4 for a Standout Eyes Single Eyeshadow to £18 for the How to...Glow, Bronze & Sculpt Pro Kit which would make a fabulous Christmas Present. Mascaras retail for just £6, Lipsticks are £7 and nail polishes retail for £5.
Keep an eye out for future reviews coming up!

Look Beauty will be launching in Superdrug stores nationwide from the end of November.

17 Wild Metallics Eyes

If you follow me on twitter you may have seen that I took part in the #17Cosmetic Twitter Party and one of the products that were highly spoken about were their 17 Metallics Eyes cream eyeshadows.
 They say
'This creamy mousse formula glides onto eyelids, use as a sheer wash of colour or build for more intensity.'
I was first attracted to them as they are very affordable and there aren't many cream eyeshadows in the drugstores.

The packaging is very cute as well as particle with a a leopard print on the lid.
They come in just six colours Wild silver, Wild purple, Wild bronze, Wild Midnight Blue, Wild green and Wild nude.

I  have three Wild Midnight Blue, Wild Bronze and Wild Nude as I felt these were the most wearable but I am already considering picking up the other three.
I think that the Wild Bronze and Nude are fabulous products although I found Midnight blue far harder to work with as the glitter meant it wasn't as smooth. However the other two are lovely, creamy and quite pigmented! I would recommend an eyeshadow primer to prevent creasing and possible setting them with an eyeshadow if you want them to last even longer.

I think that Wild Bronze and Nude are must have products, they are prefect everyday colours. I do think midnight blue is far harder to work with and means I will reach for it less although it does work well as an eyeliner.

Perfect for anyone that is looking for cream eyeshadows with a £10+ price tag.

Available from Boots for £3.99

Christmas with Lush

I was having a quick browse through the Lush website and lots of lovely new Christmas products were catching my eye that I just had to share them with you!
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8

How beautiful are all of these! The Ginger bread house even looks edible (but please don't try to eat it!) I think Lush Christmas products make beautiful little extra gifts or stocking fillers! Its almost like offering someone a relaxing bath.

The one that caught my eye the quickest was the Magic Wand Bubble Bar, although not very christmasy it is so cute and smells like Snow Fairy Shower gel which is a favourite with lots of people.

My favourite which I have tried is the So White Bath bomb, it smells amazing and I have written a review here. Also reviews of the Christmas eve bubble bar here
 1,2,3,4
Also don't forget that they make fabulous gift sets for any budget and they even gift wrap!

Collection 2000 Pump Up the Volume Mascara

Earlier in the year I tried the Collection 2000 Big Fake Mascara and felt that for the money it simply couldn't be beaten! When I heard they were releasing another mascara I couldn't wait to try it. Pump Up the Volume is a volumising mascara which is suppose to be quite similar to the Big Fake Macara.

They say
'Do your lashes need a lift. Are your peepers out of pep? New Pump Up The Volume Mascara has been specially created with added fibre and pro-keratin to boost lashes and deliver an intensely volumised look.
Add it to the Collection.

The unique curved brush holds extra product in a ‘v’ shaped well in the centre of the brush, so you get maximum coverage from root to tip, giving you a full set of lashes that are intensely volumised, bold and fanned out and the appearance of really loud lashes in the blink of an eye! .'

It was quite hard to photograph the brush but as you can see it has no bristles in the middle which is quite unusal, the mascara wand is also slightly curved and very large.

 So what do I think?
As you can see from the results it is a good mascara. It added length and volume and is very black however for me it just didn't add enough volume I wanted my lashes more pumped up! The length is similar to that of the Big Fake Mascara but the volume isn't. If you have tried the Big Fake mascara and found it too clumpy then this one may actually be worth a try.
At just £4.99 it is worth a try if you like lengthening mascaras more than volumising mascaras and is available from Boots and Superdrugs.
