Nivea #DareToKiss Lips & Giveaway

2013 has come around far quicker than expected, hasn't it?! Nivea are attempting to break a lip-locking record this New Years Eve for the longest kissing chain on Twitter and you can get involved! I thought I would also share with you my #DaretoKiss lipstick of choice...
I think I will be wearing Liable by Illamasqua this evening although it is a beautiful orange-red colour it is also very Matte and needs an amazing lip balm underneath!

With lipsticks I think it is always very important to prime the lips with a hydrating lip balm especially in winter when lips are prone to drying! The Nivea Original Lip Butter has been my product of choice recently and it leaves my lips lovely and soft! The actually come in three scents; Caramal Cream, Raspberry Rose and the original all leaving lips feeling very smooth perfect to team with a lipstick or simply to wear by itself. I think the most important time to apply lip balm is just before bed as your lips have all night to soak it up and you then make up with amazing looking lips.

Who are you hoping to kiss today at midnight?
Let me know below along with your email/twitter and you will be in with a chance to win the set of Nivea Lip Butters.
Giveaway is UK only and will end at Midnight 6th January 2013

and Follow @NiveaUK, tweet them your picture with the hashtag #DareToKiss to get involved with the record breaking attempt!

Secret Santa

This year I decided to take part in Money Supermarket's Secret Santa which they were running with bloggers. Although this is something I wouldn't usually partake in I wasn't doing a secret santa anywhere else so I thought why not! The limit was a rather generous £25 which I bought a lovely Laura Mercier set with and this is what I recieved....
I was paired with Lauren from Lauren Loves, I actually hadn't ever come across her blog but it is always nice to find new bloggers! Everything came within a very cute Christmas box and inside was a lovely selections of things. Unlike me Lauren was far more imaginative, which made the box super fun! I love that I got a Macaroon kit which gives me something to do/make, some sweeties, makeup which she obviously knows I love and a Christmas bauble which is now proudly on my Christmas tree. I love her Christmas card too!

A really love the selection of products and although I love the Laura Mercier box I got Lauren I think her box was far more imaginative and fun!

What Secret Santa gifts did you give/receive?

Rediscover Hilton & £100 Voucher Giveaway

A couple of weeks ago I was invited to review the Hilton Hotel in Dartford, as I still hadn't started my Christmas shopping and had never been to Bluewater which is near by I thought it was a great opportunity! It is about an hour drive (maybe a little less) from Central London and surrounded by two huge shopping centres, Bluewater and Lakeside.
It was really nice to get away from home for a change and just relax with some good films and food, in a huge robe, in a big bed! I was planning to use the complimentary sauna and pool but couldn't get myself out of bed, it was just too comfortable.
The room was a Hilton King Deluxe with a huge bed, sofa and desk. The bath room was stocked with Peter Thomas Roth products and large fluffy towels.
I also had dinner and breakfast there which were both buffets. If I had to say anything let the hotel down it would be the dinner as there was a huge Christmas party going on meaning we had quite a loud and busy dinner (and a small problem with the car which I will blame on a merry driver) but the food was nice and as it was around Christmas time it was to be expected really.

Of course it wasn't a break filled with sun or sight-seeing and the hotel may only be 15 or so miles away from my house but I did really enjoy my stay. As I said it was just really nice to have a change of scenery for a night and finally start my Christmas shopping at Bluewater! I would love to check out some of the other Hilton hotel's too as this stay was very pleasant and I would recommend this hotel to a friend.

Hilton Hotels have also kindly offered me £100 to giveaway to one of my fabulous readers! All you need to do is leave me a comment letting me know what part of the UK you would most like to stay in along with your twitter/email address.

You must also be a follower and giveaway will close 8th January 2013

Currently on My Nails: Sloane Gardens Nails Inc

I have been loving glitter polish as it is the holiday season, as Christmas has now passed I have moved away from the red and golds and decided to give this beautiful blue glitter from Nails Inc a go. I layered it over a blue American Apparel polish (review soon) just to make it more opaque and actually love the colour!
Although I have a blue polish underneath it Sloane Gardens is quite a full thick glitter and you can get an almost opaque coverage with just two coats. It has a mixture of small and very small dark blue and mid-toned blue glitter pieces in a clear base. It applied really nicely and the glitter can out easily. I use two coats of this polish and a Seche Vite top coat but I am very happy with how shinny and glittery it came out. Once the top coat is on it is quite a smooth finish.
What do you think of this blue glitter polish? I really like it and think I'll reach for it quite a bit!

Boxing Day.

Hello lovelies! I hope you all had a great Christmas filled with family, laughter, gifts and a few too many minced pies. I had a great one, watched some great family films, played lots of games and ate far too much! I even managed to roll myself out of bed this morning and get to Brent Cross for some Boxing day shopping, sadly I didn't pick up very much just a few bits of jewellery, a jumper and a t-shirt. I was planning to pick up much more but a few shops were closed, Zara's sale didn't impress me even half as much as I had hoped and the queue's were generally quite ridiculous however I am thinking of popping to Oxford Street tomorrow.
I thought I would quickly show you yesterday's outfit which was actually taken on my new lense which I clearly haven't got the hand of yet. I picked up a few midi dresses from Boohoo which arrived last week, although some were a little too thin and cheap I did fall in love with two. This one is a pretty Aztec print which I think is very versatile for both summer or winter as well as day and night. At only £15 I think it's really worth it, the quality is nice as is the cut and if you get student discount it becomes and absolute steal at £12! I'm considering ordering some more!

This time I paired the dress with red court shoes, they don't really get much of an outing and I feel it added something extra rather than black shoes. My trusty leather jacket, Zara bag and gold jewellery finished the outfit for me.
Dress Boohoo
Shoes Primark
Bag Zara
Jacket Oasis
In love with new Christmas present; an Alexandra McQueen skull ring which although isn't to everyone's taste is completely to mine!

If you are looking to purchase something off Boohoo don't forget to sign up to student discount here.

How was you Christmas? Did you go sale shopping today?

Christmas Nails Vodka & Caviar

As much as I love tacky nails they do get a little boring so I went for a classic red instead this Christmas eve. Vodka & Caviar is by far my favourite red, it isn't too vampy or too bright instead it is a very shinny, sexy red with a great formula. I never thought I could like a red this much and it really is a colour that would suit pretty much everyone!
Sorry my hands are a little orange, I had just fake tanned.

What's your favourite red and what colour are you wearing today?

Christmas Nails- Father Christmas Clothing

To go with my Father Christmas Hat nail art I couldn't help but also paint my nails in the Father Christmas Clothing with a fluffy trim and gold buckle!
Start with the red base all over before adding white stripe down the middle and along the tips. I also added some red glitter to my ring finger and didn't do the white tip so you can mix it up. After the base red and white have been painted use a black thin nail art polish to draw a line across the middle of your nails. Don't worry to much about getting it around the nail you can remove this later.

Once that is dry use either a gold nail polish and nail brush or as I did, you can also use a gold liquid eyeliner you may have to add in the buckle. Wait for it all to dry and then seal all the layers together with a top coat it is super easy just a little time consuming.
You can even have elf nails! Please excuse the mess I was using my weaker hand and was in a bit of a rush but you get the idea! & excuse the iPhone photo!
What nails will you be going for this Christmas?

Christmas Nails- Father Christmas Hat

As much as I love nail art I'm not very good at it. I need basic shapes that are easy to create with no tools which is why when I saw this popping up on Pinterest I knew it was one I had to recreate. I used three coloured nail polishes (although you could skip the base colour), a glitter polish and a top coat.
I started with a base coat as my nails are a little stained and then used the red to paint triangles on my nails. One my middle one I tried to use sticky tape as guide but that didn't go to plan although I am sure you can get that to work far better than I did! I done the other four fingers free hand and it was pretty easy.
When they were all dry I simply added white nail polish to the rim and end of the had, added some silver glitter for extra Christmas Sparkle and finished with a quick dry top coat to seal all the layers together. If you don't have much time you can skip the silver glitter and the base colour.
I really like these santa hat nails and they are super easy to do, just give them a go! I have another (slightly harder) nail art post coming up soon which I love even more than these!

Have you given nail art a go this month? What did you create?

Christmas Nails- Frost Finger Tips

How sweet is this little tree decorations?! It is in face a little Mavala Nail polish perfect disguised as an angel and perfect for any Christmas tree!

Around Christmas I love white nails with silver glitter so Sparkling Silver by Mavala is the perfect nail polish. If you can bring yourself to take this polish of the christmas tree it is a mixtures of medium and small silver sparkles, some holographic and some are just standard glitter. It isn't overly opaque but two coats gave me the look I was going for.

And as we are talking about tree ornaments have you seen the Origins Christmas Bauble? It's simply amazing! It is a rather large bauble filled with 5 mini samples of Origins best selling skincare products. I haven't tried as many Origins products I would have liked so this little set is a great chance to give some brand favourites a go! It includes Plantscription Serum, Clear Improvement Mask, Modern Friction Nature's Gentle Dermabrasion, Ginzing Eye Cream and Plantscription Eye treatment. I can't wait to indulge in a little pampering session!

They are £6 and exclusive to Selfridges- they would make a great stocking filler, secret santa gift or a last minute present!
What do you think of these Christmas Tree decorations? Which is your favourite?

10 Things to do in London This Christmas

With still one weekend until Christmas I thought I would share 10 ideas of what you could do this Christmas. I am sure you won't be able to complete them all but might give you something to do next year!

1. South Bank- More Info
The south bank is by far my favourite place in London; I love the boats floating by on the Thames, the houses of parliments, the street act and the mixture of quirky people. Over the festive season they also have a Christmas market filled with quirky little gift ideas, mulled win and hot dogs. I popped down with my family a few weeks ago and really enjoyed it. The only thing missing was Father Christmas!
We managed to find fake snow, have a go on the merry-go-round, eat delicious hot dogs and somehow I even ended up taking part in a street act!

Outfit: Head to toe New Look other than hat which is Primark.
2. Winter Wonderland
This is a firm favourite with everyone and I have been going for years now. I am very excited to say that I am going again today so will possibly do a post about that after! It's filled with Mulled wine, Ice Skating, rides, food and general festiveness. The place to go if you want to get in the festive spirit! More info

3. Christmas lights
This might be just me but I love Christmas lights! Especially when it rains and they reflect of the water making the whole of London twinkle. Head to Oxford Street, Regent Street and Covent Garden for some of my favourites. If you have never been before I would recommend going to watch them get turned on next year. Why not take a trip on the London Eye for an extra special view of all of London's Christmas lights?
4. Find Some Christmas Trees
Sadly we don't have a real Christmas tree although I would imagine it is quite exciting to go and pick one out. Instead I enjoy going to find some pretty impressive ones in London Trafalgar Square and Covent Garden are usually a great place to start!
5. Santas Grotto
There are a few Santa's Grottos all around and they are very magical! I am sure they'll be extra busy this weekend so chose your time carefully. This year I went to the one in Duke of York Square but the one in Hamley's and Harrods tends to be the most popular ones.
6. Ice Skating
I discovered last week that I am not very good at ice skating but it is good fun! There are a few around the capital but I would recommend Winter Wonderland, Somerset House and Tower of London. They are all fabulous venues and Ice skating is quite reasonable.

7. Volunteer
It may be a little too late for this Christmas but it is something to bare in mind for next year. Most of us are lucky enough to have a loving family at Christmas or at least a warm home however this isn't the case for everyone! Sadly some people have no one and no where to spend the Christmas period. Next Monday (Christmas Eve) I will be volunteering at a homeless shelter and although I am very nervous, I am also quite excited and hope to make a little difference to someones Christmas.

8. Pantomime/theatre show
Hopefully you'll still manage to get your hands on some last minute tickets to a musical, theatre production or Pantomime this year cause they are great fun! Although not overly festive I did head over to the new Spice Girl inspired show on Monday Viva Forever which was really good fun and worth considering if you're looking for something to see with your girlfriends.

9.Winter Walk
Wrap up warm and chose a nice big park to take your Christmas walk in. I personally love Hampstead Heath and Primrose Hill (Clearly a north London gal) but there are so many amazing parks to chose from! It's a great chance to spend some quality time with the family away from the Television and laptop.

10. Window Shopping
We spend so much time in the stores at Christmas time that sometime we miss the store windows. Selfridges, Harrods and Harvey Nichols as well as most other flagship stores always have very impressive Christmas Windows that are worth a look.

What is your favourite thing to do in London over the festive period?

Christmas Nails Barry M Jewel Glitter

L-R: Gold Mine Glitter, Rose Quartz Glitter, Diamond, Ruby Glitter, Pink Saphire Glitter, Amethyst Glitter, Yellow Topaz Glitter

I think glitter nails excite a few us so when these seven Barry M glitter polishes landed through my letter box you can only imagine how excited I was. After posting an image on Instagram I can tell that you guys are also a fan! I love that you can get a different effect depending on the colour you put underneath the glitter as well as how many coats you use, you could even mix it up and layer the glitters.
Diamond This is quite a standard silver glitter polish with a variety of size holographic glitter in a clear base.

Ruby Glitter In the bottle this looks amazing but with a few coats I. am sure it can look almost as good. It is a clear base with small and large size glitter in pink and black, the black ones are matte which I think is quite unusual

Pink Sapphire This one is unlike the rest as it has glitter that is both hexagons but also long straight one. In a clear base it comes with pink and silver glitter in a variety of shapes and sizes.

Amethyst Glitter A fun and quirky glitter nail polish it has gold, turquoise, purple, black and pink glitter which are all the same size and in a clear base. This is the most opaque glitter of the five polishes.

Yellow Topaz Glitter A mixture of large and medium yellow/gold hexagonal glitter as well as a mixture of holographic glitter in a clear base.
As I only have five fingers on a hand I am saving Gold Mine Glitter and Rose Quartz Glitter for later in the week so don't forget to pop back!
Which is your favourite glitter? What colour would you layer it on top of?
Barry M Jewel Glitter polishes retail for £2.99 from Boots, Superdrugs and other Barry M stockists.
