Disappointing Products #1

I don’t often talk about product I dislike as I see it as almost a waste of time being negative however I thought I would share some products that didn’t quite meet my expectations. Just because I don’t like them doesn’t mean you wont especially as soon of the products I mentioned are loved by the beauty community. I also don’t have photos for many of the products as I don’t use them but they are all linked so you can have a look.

The Body Shop Camomile Cleansing Butter (£12) & Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil (£10)
I gave this cleansing butter and oil a really good go and loved using it however there is something that is in them that breaks me out in really painful spots that I had to stop using it. If you don’t have sensitive skin then you may actually love this and the price point is great too.

Bioderma Micelle Solution (£18.40)
Is there anyone that hasn’t tried Bioderma Michelle Solution? I absolutely love the idea of it and it’s great to use occasionally or if you are a makeup artist however I have had to stop using it. I use to use it as my first cleanse before following with a balm/cream cleanser but I found it really dehydrated my skin and in turn caused me to breakout. I have even tried the version for dehydrated skin and it was just as bad, if not worse!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer (£4.19)
I used this for a while years ago as it is very inexpensive and everyone raves about it, however I believe there is lots of drugstore concealers that are much better. Although this concealer offers good coverage and staying powder I find it to look very heavy on the skin and crease under the eye area. Keep and eye out for a post featuring my favourite drugstore concealers which are much better alternatives.

Bronze Buffer ($10)
There are products that simply didn’t work for me and then there is this. I wouldn’t recommend anyone go anywhere near this, the reviews online are bad and it completely burnt my skin off and was unbearably painful. It done what it said it would be removed my skin as well as my patchy fake tan, I was really light with it but it still completely ruined the skin on my chest for a whole week.

Rimmel Wake Me up Foundation (£7.99)
I’ve been using the Wake me Up Concealer for a while now and love it but since I hear lots of people rave about the foundation too I thought I would give it a go. I don’t think these foundation is a bad one and might actually be great if you have very dry skin but I was still a little disappointed. On application it’s a beautiful foundation with a glowy finish and medium coverage but even on my combination skin it gets very greasy and almost slides off. I really wanted to love this as the finish is stunning and the price is great but it doesn’t last long enough and I won’t be repurchasing.

I don't think you shouldn't give bad reviews because you don't like being negative. People read blogs for honest opinions and that should include the good and bad. Bad reviews with good reasoning will stop people from buying products that wouldn't be right for them either.
    Lovely post though! Xxx

i agree..i also started reading blogs hoping to get honest opinions and not "commercial reviews"..so please keep posts like these..anyhow it is not like you are saying these products are bad it's just that they didn't suit YOU right? For example i LOVE the Bioderma water but each to his own 🙂

It's really interesting to hear someone be really honest about some really well loved products across the beauty community, I don't get why people like Rimmel Foundations to be honest, they never last long on me and do nothing for my oily skin x

That's the first negative review of those body shop products I have read – interesting as I am not sure whether the oil is contributing to my current mini breakout! x

There are a few products on this list that I have been wanting to get and try. It's great that you gave your honest opinion 🙂 I have oily combination skin too and have been wanting to try the Rimmel wake me up, but I know now that i will regret it if just ends up making me oily~

Thanks for this helpful post~ Hope you have a lovely day!

I also dislike the Collection concealer, I just don't get on with it for some reason. Probably for the same reason you said, it's quite heavy on the skin and I find that it makes my dry patches worse around my nose. Never a good look!

I have tried most of these products and have loved them, but that's the thing with make-up and skincare everyone has different skin types and can react different.
Its great to hear a different opinion of some of the most popular blogger products around. Good for you for giving your true opinion!

I actually completely agree with you about the Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation! I had the exact same experience and the scent really irritated me (random. haha.). Such a pity because I really wanted to like it!!

I used to love the Collection concealer but I've gone right off it recently. It is very thick and you are right there are others on the highstreet that do a good job! I even used a Miss Sporty one that was actually really good and super affordable! If you dont branch out you wont find gems like that, that not many people talk about!

I actually like reading posts like this, even if they are a bit negative, because it can be grounding to read a negative review on some hyped up products. A lot of these are things I am wanting to try due to hype, but you've pointed out a lot of valid things that are not-so-great about them.

I personally don't like the wake me up foundation either. I find it looks greasy AND gliterry in a matter of an hour or so unfortunately…
Loved reading this post! I think it does not make sense to have them individually for every single product but piled together it is a useful piece of your own opinion – which is why we all love reading blogs 🙂 xx

I enjoy reading negative reviews (that totally makes me sound negative, I apologise), but I always think it seems a lot more real. You're not going to like everything you try to it's great to get a balance.

Everyone has been raving about the Body Shop cleansing oil, but I was always a bit wary to try it. I've found a lot of oils have made me break out so chances are this one will too. So thank you 🙂

OMG I'm not the only one who doesn't like Bioderma's Micellar Water? That's nice to hear 😀 Thanks for honest reviews, lately it seems to me like a lot of bloggers are just afraid to write something negative about raved products just because they are so popular, but maybe I'm just weird 😀

I'm so glad I'm not the only one who doesn't like the Wake Me Up foundation, I just don't get on with the texture and it breaks me out in really painful spots.

I like many of your products.overall the collection is not so good and also not satisfactory.
But some of the products are good.skincare products depend on your skin type.
