My makeup doesn’t change too drastically from season to season but there are still some items which I come back to every summer and that barely get used throughout the rest of the year.

An obvious one is sun care, particularly body sun care which I don’t use in any other season but summer. I love Piz Buin, I’ve been known to spray it in winter just because the smell reminds me so much of summer and makes me so happy. I don’t usually find a huge difference between sun creams but I like Piz Buin, it’s a good, affordable suncream option. More recently I have also been reaching for Clarins Sun Care and Clinique Sun Protection both of which are excellent, light weight but offer UVA/UVB protection.

In terms of aftersun I have been using Garnier Aftersun Soothing Lotion and Vichy Capital soleil Aftersun SOS Balm for a while. If you are prone to burns then you simply can’t go away without the Vichy one but Garnier is a great affordable option. As a body cream I also love Garnier Oil Beauty, it leaves the most perfect sheen on the body but is still light weight.

There are three cheek product which i also use religiously in summer; Benefit Hoola, Benefit Coralista and Chanel Soliel Tan De Chanel. Although Hoola is a bronzer I use all year round, I find myself reaching for it a little more in the summer. Coralista however is one I rarely use outside the summer months but find it gives the most perfect glow and coral tine to the skin which I find goes particularly well with tanned skin. After putting off buying Chanel Soliel Tan De Chanel for a few years when it originally came out I am almost finished mine and still really loving it. I find it to just add a natural looking bronze look to the skin without making makeup look cakey.

Although I love the Juicy Couture perfumes for summer I find them to be quite heavy to travel with which is why I have been reaching for my Stella McCartney Fragrance more, its the perfect light summer scent which isn’t too sickly sweet but instead is quite floral and that I have in a perfect smaller, handbag friendly size.

Theres something I love about using the products I reserve more for summer, it makes me so happy…

I haven’t featured a Birchbox in a little while but July’s one caught my eye instantly as it isn’t even a box! It came in a pink, clear bag, perfect for the beach or pool in the summer, inside theres a whole range of mini summer essentials too.

The Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge caught my eye first as I love a makeup sponge, it’s a full size sponge and although I haven’t had a chance to try it it, it does look great. There is also a mini Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen sunscreen which has SPF45 and is ultra lightweight with a matte-finish, it isn’t quite big enough to take away but it’s a good size to try the product out or even to keep in your handbag for a bit of a top up.

There is also a Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Luminizer Gel and a UNANI Aloe Vera Gel which is great as an aftersun. I was also very impressed by the POP beauty eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait, it isn’t a full size palette but is the perfect travel size one if you’re only going for a few days!

I also picked a few bits of the Birchbox website which I’m taking away on holiday with me. I’ve heard so many people talking about the The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer and it’s as good as everyone says it is, perfect for adding a bit more of a glow to any look. I’ve also been using the The Balm Nude’tude palette which has such an adorable design, twelve wearable shades and is perfectly streamline to travel with.

Birchbox has also been kind enough to offer £5 off to my readers on their first box using the code SUMMERLO

With Christmas officially next week I thought I would share a few new beauty bits which I have received recently which I think would make fabulous gifts for any beauty addict. Although I liked every item in my video gift guides (which are the bottom of this post) I absolutely love every single item in this post and would love to have seen them under my Christmas Tree.

Aromatherapy Associates Relax Deep Nighttime Ritual £52– This item seems to be sold out everywhere but it’s still available on Birchbox and for the special price of £52 (RRP £65) and it’s worth the money. You get a full size oil, a balm and a beautiful candle but be quick as I’m sure they’ll all be gone very soon. It’s the perfect pamper kit, particularly if you have a friend that struggles to sleep.

Benefit Cheeky Sweet Spot £29.50- I must admit this is sold out in most places (/everywhere!) but it’s worth keeping an eye out for it, you could just get lucky in store somewhere. It’s only £29.50 for 6 Benefit Blushers which usually retail for £23.50 each- I feel like you’d be crazy not to pick this up if you managed to find it. Any beauty addict would fall head over heels for this palette!

Laura Mercier Fresh Fig Bath Honey £32– If you know a bath lover than this is a great product to buy. It’s a little more affordable than the Aromatherapy Associates but still very luxurious. It’s a beautiful moisturising, pampering and indulgent bath product- everything you’d want from a Christmas present.

Nails Inc Victoria Beckham £45 – The queen that is VB has collaborated with her first beauty brand, Nails Inc. The collection is made up of two equally beautiful polishes that any nail polish lover would be proud to add to their collection. At £45 it’s pricey but I think it’s quite a collectable item.

Philosophy Glowing Day Ahead £70 & Peppermint Stick £18– One of the newest brands to me this year is Philosophy, although I have wanted to try their products for years. The glowing Day Ahead set is a great introduction to their skincare but the Peppermint Stick Set is perfect for anyone.

Soapsmith Soap– I’m not really a soap person however if I were I’d refuse to use anything else! These smell like heaven in a box, they are made of the finest ingredients right here in London.

Babyliss Soft Waves £30– For anyone that loves curly hair and is on the hunt for a new curler than the Babyliss Boutique Salon Soft Waves is the one to chose. It has a long barrel, perfect for long hair and creates stunning, last all day curls.

Yankee Candles (here)- I’ve been burning these non-stop all month and they’re so affordable!

What’s on your Christmas Wishlist? Have you finished your Christmas Shopping?

I’m trying hard to not be that girl that takes a whole suitcase for a single night away and to help with that I’ve turning to palettes that have a mixture blush, eyeshadow and more. There seem to be quite a lot of these at the moment and I’ve got my eye on both the Urban Decay Naked on the Run Palette and the Nars Laser Cut Palette but I thought I would also share my picks of the ones I have.

With a mixture of blush and eyeshadows I love the Sleek Makeup Eye & Cheek Palette £10, theres a choice two colour combinations each coming with two blushers and four eyeshadows. It’s very affordable and perfect to travel with, I love the Dancing til Dusk Palette which houses four perfect brown shadows and two very wearable blushers. I actually prefer these two the standard Sleek Eyeshadow palettes as they really have just what you need to create an easy but polishes eye and cheek look instead of lots of colour you might not use.

If you are looking for something offering more than the Illamasqua Multi Facet Palettes £45 which has not only eyeshadows and blush but also a cream pigment and a brow powder is great. I’ve taken this away with me various times and not needed much else but a foundation, lipstick and mascara. The quality is what you would expect from Illamasqua- perfect and I love the enormous mirror for on the go.

If you’re looking for one with lipstick options than the Aerin Essential Palettes is my suggestion. Elegantly packaged it offers blush, eyeshadow, highlighter and lipstick. There is a weekday and weekend option in palettes but I do find the weekend palette to be a little more wearable. It looks very luxurious and I love pulling it out of my handbag for touch ups.

Not the most travel friendly but great gifts, Benefit Cosmetics offer Beauty Kits filled with some of their best-selling products. They’re a very affordable way to try lots of their products in mini sizes without buying full sizes and have everything from cheek and lips to lashes and primers.

My favourite of all have to be the Trish McEvoy Planners, they look beautiful and are such a great option although they are pricey. I love that all I need to grab is this and a foundation and be set- it has mascara, primer, a great eyeshadow selection and lots more. They do vary depending on the size but you can add/remove pages and change the products you want to keep in it so you are always ready to leave at a moments notice. Although they seem like a lot of money in comparison to the rest you get a lot of products which probably works out cheaper in the long run.

What is your favourite all-singing all-dancing palette?

Every now and then I see a beauty release that confuses me a little, such as the Benefit Bling Brow. Great alliteration, but do I want bling for my brows?

Everyone has been talking about brows recently, they seem to be the hot topic. Benefit do brows really well and I’d recommend their Brow Bars if you are looking for somewhere to get them done. For the party season Benefit have collaborates with Swarovski to help you decorate your eyebrows with crystals both at home with their Bling Brow set but also in store with the Bling Brow Service at their Brow bars.

There a variety of colours and patterns to choose from, you can apply the crystals through the brows, below the brows, a simple on right at the end or cover the entire brow in crystals.

The in-store prices range from £4-16 depending on the amount of bling you want and the at home hit made up of 52 crystals and a mini tweezer retails for £19.50. I had the service in store as well as trying the set at home for myself and although I think it can look pretty, I’m not sure I would go out in it.

They’re really easy to apply and apparently last all day but I’m not sure anyone at my Christmas party would understand me having crystals in my brows and I’m not sure I understand it either. I think it would work really well for a festival or for something quite fun and casual (instead of neon paint maybe) but it’s a little tacky in my opinion for a Christmas Party.

I can see why people are attracted to these but I personally wouldn’t spend £19.50 on them nor would I wear them out. They’re fun but also a little childish in my opinion. If they are something you are interested in I’m sure you could pick up some much cheap gems in Claire’s, I wouldn’t worry too much about them being Swarovski or not as they will probably end up down the drain at the end of the evening.

What do you think of the Benefit Brow Bling? Is it something you would try?
