The launch of new products for spring has been pretty impressive and I’m struggling to keep up, last week I spoke about some of my favourite lipstick launches and I thought today we would look at some of my favourite fragrances.

I love the idea of changing my fragrance for spring and summer, usually opting for something a little lighter, sweeter or more floral. Although celebrity fragrances typically have a bad reputation the Taylor Swift Incredible Things perfume, £23 doesn’t have the typical celebrity fragrance scent. It is a really beautiful day time option which has notes of vanilla, musk, pink pepper and grapefruit. Although it is initially quite a sweet scent it develops into more of a musky vanilla and isn’t as young as it sounds, probably one of my favourite celebrity fragrances which I will be wearing this spring.

Another great inexpensive option are the new DKNY fragrances, I have already spoken about the DKNY Delicious Delights range but they have also released their yearly Women’s Limited Edition fragrance (£41, exclusive to Superdrugs). Admittedly I hate the long bottle as it isn’t the easiest to store but the fuse of sweet orange, grapefuit, vanila and patchouli make it a really wearable fragrance.

One of my all time favourite perfume range is the Juicy Couture one, I love the tacky bottle and they just all smell so incredible and the new Hollywood Royal, £35 is no different. More of a evening spring/summer scent it maintain the usual florally sweet notes and I think you can really smell the marshmallow, candy apple, vanilla and jasmine notes.

If you are a fan of Burberry Brit Rhythm then you are probably excited to hear about the launch of Burberry Brit Rhythm Floral, £50 which is a floral fragrance enriched with citrus fruit. Although you can definitely smell the floral scents I find this to be a very lemon and orange based fragrance. It is really perfect for day time in the spring and very understatedly sexy.

New from L’Occitane is Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc £52 which is unlike any of the other fragrances I have in this post. It is grown up but not at all in an old-lady overly floral way (I’m awful at descibribing fragrances), it is a mixture of blue iris floral water and white iris which notes of citrus, peach and musk. Quite unique in my opinion, not something I would typically go for but actually really pretty, especially as it’s unlike what my friends usually go for.

Two brands which I have never owned perfumes from are Thomas Sabo and Marni. Thomas Sabo has released a perfect summer fragrance called Charm Rose Beach, £44.95 which goes with it’s recent charm collection, as the name would suggest the scent is very much sea inspired with notes of mandarin, bergamot, musk and spicy cedar. From Marni they have launched Marni Spice, £49 which although may not be for everyone is a great spicy fragrance with cinnamon, black and pink pepper with a range of floral notes too perfect for the evening.

Diptyque Florabellio, £58 launches in April 2015, providing floral harmony refreshed with salty sea aromas. This unisex fragrance also includes notes of apple blossom, roasted coffee and toasted sesame. I think this would be the perfect holiday perfume and would work just as well for your partner.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, I know that fragrances aren’t quite the easiest thing to read about and imagine.

There have been lots of new lipstick launches over the last few weeks and I thought I would roll all the most exciting ones into one blog post as well as share my thoughts. There’s a nice range of glossy and sheer to matte and bold from a range of price points too.
Laura Mercier Creme Smooth Lip Colours, £21
Although an already existing and well loved range, Laura Mercier is adding seven new shades to the collection. All seven shades seem to be very wearable and from the three I have seem to also be very creamy although I do find them a little drying if I wear them too often.
Collection Field Day, £2.99 (Launch 11th March in Superdrugs, 18th March in Boots)
The affordable new spring collection from Collection features three new lipsticks all perfect for spring, there are two mattes: Pink Rose and Tulip and a glossy one in Fuchsia. I think these are a great option if you are looking for something that’s on trend but affordable, they are buildable and surprisingly comfortable to wear. I’m not a huge fan of the white packaging although it does fit perfectly with the spring theme.
Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Shine, £25
The original Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lipsticks are some of my favourite on the market so I was very excited to dig into the new Shine Sculpting lipsticks which are sheerer and a little glossier than the original. The range is made up of sixteen shades, packaged in a beautiful streamline, luxurious case. The colours are actually less sheer than I expected and you can actually get a really beautiful opaque covering whilst still remaining glossy and effortless. Perfect for the spring and summer months as the shades are all very bright and fun.
Elizabeth Arden Beautiful Colour Moisturising Lipstick Matte, £21
These are probably the lipsticks I was most excited about and I’ll be doing a full post soon. Beautiful gold packaging aside I love the colours; Coral Crush is the perfect summer coral and Mude the perfect everyday colour. Although they are matte they apply beautifully and aren’t at all drying making matte lips actually very wearable.

Zoeva luxe cream lipstick, £6.75
I first saw these at LFW last month and am really impressed by the pigmentation and how creamy they are. There are six shades in this range and since mine are inspired by A/W15 they are quite dark and vampy although the other three are beautiful pink shades. The packaging is beautiful gun metal and retail for a very affordable £6.75

Burberry Kisses, £22.50
A big launch this month is the new Burberry Kisses range made up of 28 lipstick, they are designed to be buildable so you can achieve a sheer wash or a opaque colour depending on the amount you apply and the shade range is quite impressive too. As with all Burberry items, it looks beautiful and I love the embossed print on the bullet of the lipstick.

Can’t wait to get lots of wear out of these lipsticks and although I have been opting for red or nude lipsticks recently I think it’s time to try out the corals and pinks.

Most of us have done it. You’ve gone out, arrived home a little late, had a little to drink and simply fallen straight into bed. Most of us with like to deny it but sometimes it’s simply too late, you can just about bring yourself to brush your teeth before crawling under the covers. I figured since most of our diaries are getting filled with Christmas parties and with New Years on the horizon I thought I would share what I do the morning after.

Before bed- Sometimes I’m simply too tried to do this but I will try my best to cleanse, it’s usually a quick one but it’s better than nothing. Failing that I will either reach for a Micellar Water or a face wipe- I’ve recently been using the Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths. If I’ve had a drink or two I will also grab a large glass of water before bed as it help rehydrate you and I feel much better in the morning.

In the morning I start with another large glass of water and a really good cleanse. I double cleanse, usually with a sonic brush to help remove any makeup I left on my skin and waken up my skin. To prevent puffy, sore eyes I then use the Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels which cool and de-puff eyes. Alternatively you can keep your eye gel, eye mask or even spoons in the fridge which will also help de-puff the eye area. To cool the skin I like a facial spray such as the Jurlique Rosewater Balancing Mist.

And then I like to move onto hydration. My skin is always super dehydrated and it’s made so much worse if I have alcohol, I like to use a serum such as Vichy’s Aqualia Thermal Serum which although feels light on the skin hydrates it and adds the luminosity my skin needs. I’ll then finish the skincare part with a little of my day cream and a great lip balm.

I then usually want to pile on the makeup but have to resist the urge and instead go for a lighter, dewy, natural look. I’ve been loving the Burberry BB Cream, it’s absolutely dreamy as it gives the skin a beautiful glow but I do then follow up with a concealer to hide tired eyes, redness and blemishes. My two weapons of choice are the Clarins Instant Concealer and Laura Mercier Secret Camouflage. I apply both the BB Cream and concealer largely with my fingers to stop it from sitting on the skin and do the same with a cream blush as I find it looks the most natural.

I don’t waste time with too much eyeshadow and will either skip it or apply a light cream shadow all over the eye. I do also apply a little tiny bit of Benefits Brow Glow in the inner corner of my eye and under my brow bone just to brighten the eye area a little. Once again to open the eyes, I use my trust eyelash curlers and a good few coats of Too Faced Better Than Sex Mascara. I skip my brows as they are fairly dark but if you do have fair brows filling them in with make the world of difference. I then finish off with a swipe of Clarins Lip Perfector which looks fairly natural but moisturised.

What are your go-to products after a late night?

I recently tried my first Burberry beauty products; the Fresh Glow Foundation and the Fresh Glow BB Cream. I am always after a bit of a healthy glow from my bases so I was excited to try both products.

The Fresh Glow BB Cream delivers the best glow, has SPF 20 whilst enhancing skin luminosity, hydration and evening out skin tone. I apply this with finger tips and get the most beautiful finish, it’s dewy and really brightens my face. It has a fairly light coverage as you would expect from a BB Cream so I do follow it with a little concealer. Unless you have very dry skin I would also recommend a good powder, I rarely use powder but this has a very luminous finish without powder and also doesn’t last quite as long as I’d like. It has a light rose scent which I like and luckily didn’t break me out which most scented products do. I think this will come in great use as the winter continues to dry out my skin but I would stay clear if you have oily skin, would highly recommend it for drier or more mature skin.
On to the foundation, which is what I usually wear- the Fresh Glow Foundation. As the name would suggest, it also had a beautiful dewy finish, it is lightweight and gives adds a youthful glow. It has similar ingredients to the BB Cream, SPF 15 and a medium coverage with a natural finish. In the photo I have included of myself I am actually wearing this foundation, stupidly I applied it with a brush which I think doesn’t do this foundation justice and it should be applied with fingers. If you apply it with your fingers you can build up to quite full coverage without the foundation going cakey. It’s the perfect foundation if you have dry or dehydrated skin, like I do or you are looking for a foundation which that will help reflect light and make you look younger. It’s currently my go-to foundation for the autumn/winter as it doesn’t cling to any dry patches and gives me the coverage I need.
The BB Cream retails for £30 and the foundation for £35 so they are fairly expensive but worth the money- can’t wait to try some more Burberry products!
