mens-giftsAdmittedly, this post is a little later than expected but I’m sure I can’t be the only one that hasn’t finished their Christmas shopping so I thought I’d still share! I always struggle when buying men gifts, most of my girl friends I know would love a new MAC lipstick or an Urban Decay Palette but what do you buy the boys?

I’m going to start by pointing out the blog post is pretty beauty heavy, head to the end of this post if the men in your life aren’t too into beauty as I have some more ideas.

One of my favourite brand for men is Neal’s Yard as I find most of their packaging to be very luxe and unisex, I love the navy glass bottles! The Men’s Everyday Essentials Gift Set has a moisturiser, body wash and face wash, all essential items men will actually use.

If you’re on a bit of a budget Next and The Body Shop have some great gifts. My boyfriend loves The Body Shop shaving items and uses them almost daily so they’re always something I pick up for him but there are also other great sets from them. If you’re looking for a skincare and fragrance set then Next have it covered. Although Next fragrances aren’t the most expensive I personally really like them and are often very reminiscent of other fragrances. This signature set comes with a shaving gel, fragrance, post-shaving moisturiser and a really lovely toiletry bag!

If the man you are buying for is quite into skincare, then Clinique have a few different options to choose from. The Clinique Great Skin for Him would probably be my top pick as I love the toiletry bag and it’s very reasonably priced too! If you’re looking to get him a facial brush then I can’t recommend the Clinique one enough, in my opinion, it’s the best value for money and the one I recommend every time someone asks.

I’m going to be doing a whole post on Christmas fragrance but I have picked out Aramis Voyager and Joop! Homme Sport. Aramis Voyager is a great spicy fragrance, it’s not too strong and a quite a safe bet, especially if you don’t know the man’s fragrance taste too well. Joop! Homme Sport is a great scent for a younger man going into spring especially if he’s a fan of the original Joop!

If you’re looking for secret santa or stocking filler ideas then I’d head to Superdrug, not only do they have affordable pamper sets like the Man’s Stuff one which is photographed above but they also have great novelty gifts. I’m going to pick some up myself for my boyfriend as they’re so inexpensive that you can’t go wrong!

If your dad/partner likes beer then I can’t recommend the Brew Barrel enough. My dad rarely gets excited about gifts but I gave him one for fathers day and he really liked it. I ended up helping him make it and he was surprised about just how good the beer was. They’re reasonably priced, you can pick the sort of beer they like and it’s really quick and east to make. I really regret not picking up a few more of these as I know so many men that would have really appreciated it!

If you’re still in need of idea’s I always find Urban Outfitters have a good gift section, I’m buying my Boyfriend a good coat this year (which I am yet to find) but have previously bought watches, scarves, Playstation Games and shoes which have all gone down quite well.

If you have any other ideas leave them down below and be sure to come back tomorrow for another gift guide.

clinique 2016 februaryI always get excited about Clinique new launches, actually new launches in general and Clinique seem to be on fire with lots of new products launching over the next few months.

Earlier this month they launched their new Sweet Pot Sugar Scrub + Lip Balm sets, which look adorable and were apparently inspired by macaroons. One half has a sugary exfoliator designed to buff away dryness and the other has a lip balm to soothe and moisturise lips. I’ve tried out the shades that I have (Pink Framboise and Orange Blossom) and I think they’re nice but nothing overly exciting; the scrub is fairly gentle and the balm is a nice everyday one as it doesn’t offer too much colour, I can barely tell the difference between the two shades once on the lips. I’d probably pass on these just because you could get a Lush Scrub (with lots more product) and a lip balm for cheaper but they are really cute and I can totally see their appeal.

Onto February 1st launches… (exclusively at Harrods, nationwide 18th March)

They will be adding two new lip products to their Pop range the Clinique Pop Glaze sheer Lip Colour + Primer and Clinique Pop Lacquer Lip Colour + Primer. I’m not too sure what the ‘primer’ addition is all about but I can’t see them being any different because of the added ‘Primer’. The Sheer Lip Colours comes in six shades and are an effortless, sheerer version of their original colour pop lip colours. I’m not usually a huge fan of sheer lip colours but I think these are really comfortable on the lips and would all look beautiful in the summer. The Pop Lacquers come in 10 colours but I personally much prefer the nude shades as I find bolder colours in gloss are too high maintenance and can often look dated. I have the shade Nude Pop  and it’s a really beautiful colour but a little drier than I would like, application seems to pull a bit and there are better lip glosses out there.

My favourite from the new pop range are the Clinique Lid Pops, which are available in 8 shades. I think these are particularly perfect for anyone that doesn’t wear too much makeup or is a little scared of shadow as they aren’t overly pigmented which means that they are very easy to use. Most the colours are beautiful although they do have two silly blues which I think are fairly unwearable to an average makeup wearer. I wouldn’t say they’re for an eyeshadow expert as the pigmentation is on the sheer side (especially compared to MAC which are £2 cheaper!) but still really beautiful, the shade Cream Pop is a soft, pretty, everyday shade.

In April there will also be a New Chubby Nude Foundation Stick, which apparently offers a smooth, natural finish with the flexibility to build from sheer to moderate coverage throughout the day- available in 10 shades. I haven’t tried this so I can’t comment but just something else to look forward to! To coincide they’re also releasing a new Buff Brush designed to blend flawlessly.

If I get my hands on any more shades I’ll report back with swatches but until then I’ll be hoping that they announce some matte Colour Pops soon.

Just before the Christmas madness starts and all I post about is the festive season I thought I would share what new products I received this month. Theres been quite a lot of products arriving, largely for Christmas but I think I chose a nice edit for this video, with a variety of highend and more affordable bits.

I’m a little late letting you know about this offer as it goes end 20th October but head down to your local Superdrug’s and buy any P&G product from brands such as Max Factor, Olay, Gillette, Oral-B, Pantene, Pampers and many more to trigger a donation to Marie Curie. It’s the perfect time to stock up on mascara, shampoo and toothpaste! Alternatively simply upload a selfie to your Instagram or Twitter, tag @superdrug with #FeelSuper and that post will also trigger a donation from P&G. P&G aims to donate £200,000 to Marie Curie, which is double from last year so it’s in need of extra support! (Giveaway further down)

If you’ve bought all your P&G products but are still looking to do good through your love of beauty than there are a few other brands also getting in the giving spirit. If you’re a Clinique lover you probably use their Dramatically Different Moisturiser, this month they have a limited edition one in aid of Breast Cancer Awareness Month so it’s the perfect time to top up. They also have a limited edition Cheek Pop with the iconic ribbon symbol embossed, £2 from every £17 blusher is donated and the Cheek Pops are one of my favourite blushers!

A brand I recently discovered, Studio 10 is also raising a brow for cancer, when you buy their brow pencil they will donate one to Look Good Feel Better worth £22.

The P&G team were also kind enough to be offering one of my lucky readers the chance to win £50 worth of beauty products, which are photographed above (first photo). Giveaway ends 24th October, UK Only, follow Rafflecopter below.

Good Luck!

It does seem to be cooling down just a little in London but I feel that we can’t complain too much as we have had some glorious days filled with sun and sometimes almost unbearable heat. I must admit that I like that sun. I feel that I shouldn’t but getting a real tan still fills me with joy although i am trying my best to stay sun safe and I should probably point out that I am very lucky that I don’t typically burn.

I am always most careful with my face and really try to avoid having my face in the sun as the thought of wrinkles and age spots scares me. If I am not wearing makeup than I love the Clarins Sun Wrinkle Control Cream for face but otherwise go for the Radical Skin Perfecting Screen as I find it sits perfectly under makeup. When I am sitting out in the sun I always have a hat, I picked up this straw one from New Look recently and I really like it, if I forget my hat or I’m at the beach then I often use a scarf/towel/t-shirt to shield my face as well as always wearing a pair of sunglasses, I am in love with my Quay pair at the moment!

I am slightly less careful with my body and do like to tan a little although I am making an effort to use a higher SPF, recently I have been going for the Clinique SPF 30 Body Cram which isn’t sticky and has protected my skin really well over the last few weeks.

To stay hydrated I think refillable bottles of water are the best, I always have one in my handbag and one in the fridge along with a facial spray to keep me cool throughout the day.

The Vichy Capital Soleil is in my opinion the best aftersun and I always take a bottle on holiday with me for any burns and it has helped some of my family/friends that have really been quite significantly burnt. If there is no sign of redness but I just want to cool the skin a little and keep it hydrated then I reach for Garnier After Sun and the Nivea Sun In Shower Refreshing Aftersun  which is quite a nice summer body wash. I don’t usually keep my aftersun in the fridge but I completely get why people do, might start doing it too.

I’m sure in a couple of weeks I’ll do another similar post with what sun care products I am loving on holiday.
