selfridges mothers day Diptyque RoseFor anyone that is as last minute as me with their Mother’s Day gifts I thought I would share a quick look at some of the bits Selfridges which are perfect for any Mums that love beauty. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday so you have just a couple of days left to pick up all your pressies.

My first pick from the lot has to be the Charlotte Tilbury creams, I just love the brand and these are a really lovely treat. I’ve tried the original Magic Cream which was beautiful and I’m expecting the same from the Eye Rescue and Night Cream. You could splash out on the Magic Cream Duo or pick the one item which your mum would appreciate most.

I think perfumes and candles are also always a great option for any female although it can be tricky to choose the perfect scent for someone else. Aerin is brand which I’m still exploring but their fragrances are real stand out products, they look really luxurious and elegant, plus theres a nice range so you can find one that your mother will love. Mediterranean honeysuckle is exclusive to Selfridges but pretty amazing!

I’m also really loving rose at the moment and the Diptyque range doesn’t disappoint! It works great for any age and I must admit that I am super excited to burn this candle! The Rose Roll On also comes in the most beautiful packaging, is the perfect handbag size and is very affordable as far as luxury perfumes go.

As my mum isn’t huge into beauty I often opt for body and skin products as everyone needs these and it’s always nice to make an everyday task such as creaming your body that little bit more lavish. Estée Lauder’s Revitalising Supreme Body Creme is the perfect pre-spring pick me up, it’s deeply nourishing and adds the most beautiful radiance to the body. However for my mother, top of her list is always a great hand cream, especially the Clarins Super Restorative Hand Cream which is the perfect anti0ageing, intensive hand cream!

For makeup loving mothers I don’t think you can beat a good lip colour such as the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros which are grown up matte lip lacquers that provide rich, intense colour. Alternatively everyone needs a good mascara and Estee Lauder Sumptuous Knockout is the ideal one for anyone looking to add lift and definition to their lashes.

My final beauty recommendation is one I have been trying over the last week myself and it’s the Suqqu Musculate Massage & Mask Cream. It’s currently my favourite relaxation, pamper item. It’s a rich and highly moisturising cream which can really be used to massage the skin in order to promote blood circulation, hydrate and add the perfect glow to the skin.

Have you bought your Mother’s Day Gift yet? Did you pick up any beauty bits?

PS. I’m getting a facial tomorrow a Radical Skincare Facial tomorrow (which would make the perfect Mother’s Day Gift too!) so join me on Snapchat to follow my day: alittleobsessed

Last week I was invited by Fragrance Direct to make my own candle at the Rachel Vosper shop in Knightsbridge. Although the candle making class was amazing it was Rachel’s Candle Etiquette which I found most interesting. I really love candles, especially luxury candles and have been using Rachel’s tips to get the most from all of my candles.

I’ve never really thought of timing my candle burning time but candles should burn for no less than one hour and no more than four. Sticking to this means you allow the entire surface of the candle to burn, allowing for an even burn, with less tunnelling but the candle doesn’t over heat.

Wick lengths are also really important and should usually be kept to 6mm however if you’re going to be burning the candle for over three hours than it’s worth cutting the wick even shorter. If you’re going to be relighting a candle then always allow it to cool and solidify before you do so.

Then of course there are the basics, never leave a candle unattended and always keep them out of the reach of children and animals. One which I think it obvious but people seem to forget is to really consider what is going on around the candle, be careful with curtains or lose papers which can easily be flown into a candle. Also be careful with what the candle is sitting on too, not burning the candle all the way to the bottom will protect the candle vessel too.

Another cleaver tip for anyone who, like me, likes to use empty candle vessels to hold makeup brushes or someone that likes to refill the candle; place the vessel in the freezer overnight to shrink the wax. In the morning using hot (not boiling) water, rinse the vessel and polish with a soft cloth.

I love candles in autumn and winter, I’ve been burning a candle daily and a have a few waiting to be used. Of course I love Diptyque and Jo Malone but I’ve been trying out a few different ones recently. I haven’t had a chance to burn my Rachel Vosper candle which I made yet but I went for the Sandalwood & Cedar scent as I find it really warming. The Lucy Annabella Niaouli & Lavendar candle is the perfect evening candle as it has a really beautiful relaxing scent. The White Company Fresh Figs is the one I have been burning the most recently throughout the day and is a really lovely all year round candle. I’m patiently waiting for Christmas to burn La Montana Winter Oranges and the 100 Acres Candle. La Montana Winter Oranges has a really christmasy orange, cinnamon and clove scent which I love as it’s christmasy without the sicky sweet scent the lots of christmas candles come with. The 100 Acres candle comes in the most beautiful vessel, perfect for Christmas in any room.

What candle are you currently burning?

The launch of new products for spring has been pretty impressive and I’m struggling to keep up, last week I spoke about some of my favourite lipstick launches and I thought today we would look at some of my favourite fragrances.

I love the idea of changing my fragrance for spring and summer, usually opting for something a little lighter, sweeter or more floral. Although celebrity fragrances typically have a bad reputation the Taylor Swift Incredible Things perfume, £23 doesn’t have the typical celebrity fragrance scent. It is a really beautiful day time option which has notes of vanilla, musk, pink pepper and grapefruit. Although it is initially quite a sweet scent it develops into more of a musky vanilla and isn’t as young as it sounds, probably one of my favourite celebrity fragrances which I will be wearing this spring.

Another great inexpensive option are the new DKNY fragrances, I have already spoken about the DKNY Delicious Delights range but they have also released their yearly Women’s Limited Edition fragrance (£41, exclusive to Superdrugs). Admittedly I hate the long bottle as it isn’t the easiest to store but the fuse of sweet orange, grapefuit, vanila and patchouli make it a really wearable fragrance.

One of my all time favourite perfume range is the Juicy Couture one, I love the tacky bottle and they just all smell so incredible and the new Hollywood Royal, £35 is no different. More of a evening spring/summer scent it maintain the usual florally sweet notes and I think you can really smell the marshmallow, candy apple, vanilla and jasmine notes.

If you are a fan of Burberry Brit Rhythm then you are probably excited to hear about the launch of Burberry Brit Rhythm Floral, £50 which is a floral fragrance enriched with citrus fruit. Although you can definitely smell the floral scents I find this to be a very lemon and orange based fragrance. It is really perfect for day time in the spring and very understatedly sexy.

New from L’Occitane is Iris Bleu & Iris Blanc £52 which is unlike any of the other fragrances I have in this post. It is grown up but not at all in an old-lady overly floral way (I’m awful at descibribing fragrances), it is a mixture of blue iris floral water and white iris which notes of citrus, peach and musk. Quite unique in my opinion, not something I would typically go for but actually really pretty, especially as it’s unlike what my friends usually go for.

Two brands which I have never owned perfumes from are Thomas Sabo and Marni. Thomas Sabo has released a perfect summer fragrance called Charm Rose Beach, £44.95 which goes with it’s recent charm collection, as the name would suggest the scent is very much sea inspired with notes of mandarin, bergamot, musk and spicy cedar. From Marni they have launched Marni Spice, £49 which although may not be for everyone is a great spicy fragrance with cinnamon, black and pink pepper with a range of floral notes too perfect for the evening.

Diptyque Florabellio, £58 launches in April 2015, providing floral harmony refreshed with salty sea aromas. This unisex fragrance also includes notes of apple blossom, roasted coffee and toasted sesame. I think this would be the perfect holiday perfume and would work just as well for your partner.

I hope you enjoyed this blog post, I know that fragrances aren’t quite the easiest thing to read about and imagine.

I have been lusting over a Diptyque candle for a few years now but after smelling every candle numerous times there was never one that blew me away however I really am in love with the Insolite candle.

The reason I had never spotted this beauty before is because it is exclusive to Liberty’s in London. I love the box it comes in too, clearly Liberty’s inspired. The candle it’s self is a mixture of warm and cold spices, petals, zests, peels and leaves (I clearly stole that of the Liberty’s website- I’m not even sure what that all means.) I’m pretty awful at describing scents but it’s sweet/spic and just what I have been looking for

The glass jar is beautiful as they are with every Diptyque candle and I think it’s the perfect scent for both Autumn/Winter and Spring. Diptyque candles make such a beautiful luxurious gift too and this one is available for £45 from Liberty.

Which is your favourite Diptyque candle scent?

I really love candles in the winter and have recently been burning them more than ever as they really add a little warmth to the room. However they can be very pricey especially as I am not too keen on the cheaper ones which often let off harmful chemicals. Therefore i think candles make great luxurious gifts and are a really indulgent treats.
Here are a few of my favourites….

 Diptyque Holiday Candles £25 & £45*
The world and his wife talks about Diptyque candles but I had never actually tried any until recently. They have released the most beautiful Christmas collection which start at a reasonable £25 for a mini one! Simply buying a Diptyque candle is a fabulous experience take yourself down to one of their stores or counters and take a minute to explore their scents before picking out that perfect for one for a friend or family member. They even have the most impressive large candles which are expensive but absolutely amazing!

Neom; Home Candles £39.50 and Travel gift set £55*
An old favourite of mine has to be Neom and I think their large candles make a really nice present if you know what someones favourite scent is but the Neom Gift set which comes with four Travel candles is my favourite candle gift set of all! I like that their are four different scents and the size of each one is perfect too! The only problem is it is one of those presents I would never want to giveaway! I can’t wait to spend the next few weeks burning through these babies!

 Sanctuary £12.50
I have spoken about this candle before as I think £12.50 is a great price as I find them to be of high quality. If you are not into overly scented candles than this one is a great one! There is even a perfect little gift set of three for just £10! Make sure you burn it for a while for the first time as mine didn’t end up burning as evenly as I had hoped.

 Timothy Dunn £45*
This Arabian Fig Candle is by far the most luxurious one and is a little pricey at £45 but you can really see why! It has a perfect festive scent which isn’t over powering, is very elegant and beautiful! This would make a stunning present for an gender as the dark plum colour makes it a simply very classic candle but the other candles seem to be equally as beautiful!

The Craft Lab £18.90*
However if you want something more affordable, handmade and more original why not try this candle from The Craft Lab, it is even suitable for vegans! I have the Classic Christmas one but there are a few you can chose from. It’s main notes are orange, cinnamon & anis and looks rather luxurious with Swarovski Crystals surrounding the glass jar. They also burn for 40 hours so under £19 seems like a fabulous price! Also check out the Facebook page here  (This is a new addition and that’s why it isn’t featured in the first image)
