holly fulton 16 lfwthe apartment kikkik deskI have been blogging for quite a long time and have attended about 10 seasons of LFW now (no idea how!) but this season I decided to say no to every show I was invited to.  Don’t get me wrong I felt really fortunate to even be considered to attend and I really am thankful but I’m not really too sure LFW benefits me and my blog that much.

Last season I planned to attend 2 full days but shows started to run late meaning I couldn’t make it backstage for following shows and had to let the PR’s, who had been kind enough to offer me tickets, down. Other than that it’s also quite tiring, it’s fine if you have car which follows you around but rushing from location to location in high heels is stressful and painful. On top of that all I’m just not a fashion blogger, yes I might write the occasional outfit post but there are people at fashion week that very much have ‘fashion week outfits’. These are outfits that they wouldn’t wear anywhere else but fashion week and that will probably get them photographed- I’m just not that person and I feel terribly out of place in my boots/trainers, jumper and jeans.

Instead this season I decided to attend The Apartment, pop in to see Maybelline to find out what looks they had been creating as well as visit the Toni & Guy event to check out their new products. It was all far more enjoyable although Patricia, Ellie and Josie did convince me to take their spare ticket to Holly Fulton and break my no show rule for the season but since I wasn’t backstage or rushing to another show afterwards I actually really enjoyed it!

So a little bit more about what I did do…

The Apartment is a blogger lounge set up by Abi which I’ve actually been going to for 5 or 6 seasons. The whole concept is amazing as it’s a great place to relax between shows (or just relax in my case), meet other bloggers, grab a bite to eat and get your nails/hair/makeup done. Abi’s Apartment seems to get bigger every year and there were some truly beautiful brands. For beauty there was Eylure, Priv and Mark Hill so naturally I had my hair done by Mark Hill and lashes by Eylure. Mark Hill kindly added some beachy waves to my hair with a really small wand which would usually frighten me but it really worked plus the lovely girl at Eylure recommend some lashes which would work best with my eye shape which was really helpful!

For fashion sponsors included Russell & Bromley, Boden, Astley Clarke (which do the most beautiful bracelet) and loads more! I attended the afternoon tea with Caravelle which was filled with lots of delicious cakes from Aubaine and Krispy Kremes. Of course they also had a display with all the watches and Caravelle is a really great affordable options if you’re looking for a new watch.

Oh and the apartments desk were ultimate desk goals, they had a Urban Outfitters and a Kikki.K desk and I naturally fell in love with them both, would happily move them both into my house!

the apartment lfwlwf hairmaybellineAs I mentioned I also popped in to see Maybelline who sponsored a few of the shows, I’m going to talk more about the products over the next few weeks but it was great to see their products in action to create a really beautiful wearable nude look. I haven’t tried the Maybelline The Nudes palette yet but I will be adding it to my collection asap!

My final non-LFW stop was with the lovely people at Toni & Guy, I had my hair done by one of their stylists and the technique she used was really interesting! She used a hair straightener and the waves were created by the way she pushed the hair through the plates, if you’re interested I can do a whole post on this, it was easy but affective! Toni & Guy are releasing a new hair perfume which smells of the iconic T&G smell although I spotted a Volume Lotion which is what I am dying to get my hands on.

And that was how I spent my two days of non-LFW, if you don’t already I post daily on my Snapchat so add the username ‘alittleobsessed’.

One of my favourite things about fashion week has to be meeting new bloggers and discovering their amazing style on Instagram. I don’t typically go to a lot of fashion events so it’s nice to meet bloggers I’ve never crossed paths with or even to just discover someone new on Instagram through the #LFW hashtag or some general Instagram browsing. Here are a few that I found recently that I think everyone should follow…
Toni Tran/I follow very few men on Instagram however Toni’s photos are far too perfect to not press the follow button. If you’re into men’s fashion he obviously dresses amazingly but even if you’re not, simply his table top photos justify a follow.
Hannah Crosskey/A girl after my own monocrome heart. Her style is always beautifully put together but still very wearable making it the perfect Instagram for your daily dose of fashion inspiration.
Chrissabella/If you are in need of some glam inspiration then look no further than Chrissabella. Every photo is thought out, colourful and theres a nice balance of food shots, outfits, accessories and beauty products.
Russel & bromley PR Girl/Ultimate shoe porn which is actually affordable (just.)
Alex Steinherr/Potentially my ultimate woman crush, there is nothing about beauty that this woman doesn’t know and her Instagram proves it. Follow to see the newest products, hottest backstages and generally lots of beauty products.
Monica Beatrice/Not a day goes by without a stunning photo from Monica wether it’s pretty flowers, inspiring outfit or a gorgeous pair of shoes.
What Instagram account is your favourite?

The Orla Kiely LFW show has caught my eye for years, it always seems a little more fun then a simple catwalk so I jumped at the chance to attend with Bourjois who were the brains behind the beautiful makeup.
For S/S 2015 Bourjous created a beautiful catwalk look which remained wearable and easy to recreate at home. As you can see from the photos below the collection was all about Flower Power and had a 60s feel to it which was mirrored in Attracta Courtney’s makeup look.
The look was very focused on the eyes with quite a Twiggy feel, the skin was kept quite light but matte using Bourjois Java Powder over Bourjous Healthy Mix Serum and with nothing on the cheek. From the Smokey Stories Palette in Over Rose they applied a very pale colour over the lid and then a strong dark crease colour defined the socket line. The mascara really finished the look, she used Bourjois Push Up mascara on the top lashes and used the tip to create a dot-like finish on the bottom lashes.
Lips were kept quite light with Color Boost in Peach on the Beach as a base and the Cream Blush in Nude Velvet which left the lips looking muted and matte.
I loved this makeup look and it was a beautiful show with a makeup look I will be trying to recreate soon.
Smokey Storied and Push Up Mascara will launch in October but all other makeup items are available from here
What was your favourite makeup look from LFW?

I’ve been a pretty bad blogger over the last few days but life just got a little busy and motivation wasn’t as high as usual. I have been super busy with work and also events for LFW and launches. Last week I was lucky enough to be invited by The Body Shop to see some shows which they sponsored at Vauxhall Fashion Scout.

The first show I saw was Ones-to-Watch which is for up and coming designers which haven’t yet had a solo catwalk at LFW. Its really nice that you get a taste of four different designers especially as all four were quite different. Hellen Van Rees and Ming’s designs were a little more structural but still very beautiful! Hellen Van Rees had some very impressive head pieces whereas Ming has some amazing studding! Charlotte Simpson and Hana Cha’s designs were a little more wearable. Charlotte Simpson’s show featured beautiful pastels and sequins as well as some dresses that looked very heavy! My favourite however was Hana Cha’s show, give me anything black, white and studded and I will be happy but also the amazing long tassels looked mesmerising going down the catwalk!

But as this is a beauty blog we have to talk about the makeup- which I loved and was exactly my kind of look. The makeup was by The Body shop whose Skincare I love but it was nice to see the makeup too! On the skin was the Body Shop BB cream which I have been using for a while and love (review here) the skin was kept dewy with the help of a radiance highlighter and the strong contour was achieved with the new Beauty Crush Collection contour. Eyes were kept quite neutral with an angular black eyeliner and teamed with nude lips.

Did you catch any shows at LFW?
I have another post coming soon about two more shows- so keep an eye out!

As I am sure you all know the last few days have been London Fashion Week and I was lucky enough to see a few shows as well as visit the Handpicked Media Lounge. The first event I went to at the suite was for New Look where they were showing their latest collection and their cosmetics.

If I am completely honest I don’t go into New Look as much as I probably should do but the event really opened my eye to how great their clothes are! They had some fabulous jackets and boots for really affordable prices that were also nice quality.

In the room they had the Kelly Brook Lingerie which I was pretty impressed with especially as they come in quite large sizes as that can be hard to find on the high street. Even the knickers from the normal range are really nice and inexpensive, I am already planning to go and buy a few.

They also had the Gold By Giles makeup range which I hadn’t seen before I am yet to have a good play with it but there are a few things that look really good!

The only bad thing to come from the event is that I now have a long wishlist that will set me back over £100 but it has got me very excited for autumn!

Huge thanks to HPM and New Look for the event- it was great fun!

What do you think of New Look? Have you tried their Gold By Giles range yet?
