With Christmas now just 10 days away I wanted to tell you about a little stat that I read this week. In a YouGov 2018 survey conducted by Aldi they found that 50% of people are ‘Christmas planners’ they start shopping early, budget their money for food, drinks and gifts whereas 20% of people are a ‘Christmas Panicker’ and leave Christmas shopping until the last moment and often run over budget.
I’ll be honest, usually I am the latter, usually it’s Christmas Eve and I’m still buying a few last gifts and attempting to wrap everything just in time. I am lucky enough to have a huge family but that does mean I have a lot of people to buy for
at Christmas and spending Christmas Eve wrapping last minute gifts isn’t the best way to spend the day.
Which is why this year I have started early, I have bought almost all my gifts back in November and I’ve almost finished wrapping. I think this year I’m finally a ‘Christmas Planner’. I even have a spreadsheet.
A lot of my Christmas shopping was done at Aldi this year, I love Aldi, it’s not only an affordable supermarket but they have some real standout quality products.
The first Christmas thing to catch my eye at Aldi this year was their beauty range! They have everything from makeup to skincare and although they are very affordable I have found the quality to not be at all compromised! The pink mask is one of my favourite items from the Aldi beauty range and it’s the perfect stocking filler but I’m still hoping to try the Lacura Broadway Shape & Glow palette, which I have heard rave reviews about.
And for the person that has everything I love their hampers, I have one which I’ll be sharing with my mum but I’m after another one for my aunt who is kind enough to host us every Christmas. I think the hampers are a great gift that the while family can share. They are different hampers filled to the brim with different items; from cakes and cracker to cranberry sauce and wine. There are also different hampers at different price points starting at just £24.99. The one I have is the £59.99 but it feels so much more expensive!
They also have some great pamper hampers that are just £29.99! I’ve unboxed one over on my IGTV, inside there is a hand wash, reed diffuser, hand & body cream, a beautiful two wick candle and- to finish it all off, a bottle of prosecco! Although the whole hamper is cheaper then many luxury candles alone I love everything that is inside, we currently have the hand-wash in the bathroom and the reed diffuser in the entrance of our home. It scents the whole house really well but also looks great. They’re available in Pomegranate and Lime, Basil & Mandarin– I wish I could recommend one but I love them both!
If you’re looking for affordable but luxurious-looking candles then I have just the thing! Aldi’s two wick Luxury Fragranced Candles are best sellers and often hard to get as they’re so popular. I have these scenting my house at the moment but I’ve also got a few wrapped ready to go under the Christmas tree. You can get single ones for just £3.99 and a trio for £11.97.
As a family we love Aldi food but for me their Christmas food really stands out. Personal favourite are slow gin mince pies and their fudge- I’ve stocked up on both and I’ll be giving some away as gifts but also keeping some for myself to eat throughout December. It may only be mid-December but I’ve made my way through a whole box of mince pies- they’re my absolute favourite. I really think Aldi is the place to go for all your Christmas snacks/starters too; we eat their smoked salmon year round but I have my eye on their Scottish Salmon Carpaccio and mushroom arancini. I must admit I know nothing about cooking Turkeys (Aldi have those too) but I do know about all the trimmings and Aldi is the perfect place for them! Everything from stuffing Yule logs to Honey & mustard parsnips and my personal favourite, the giant Pigs in Blankets.
If you have a sweet tooth then they also have some great desserts and treats! I’ve mentioned the mince pies and fudge but they also have some great bits to really dress up any dessert table. Their Panna Cotta Wreath is tasty and beautiful, they have a melt in the middle sponge pudding, which I haven’t tried yet but really need to! However, for the real wow factor have a look for their chocolate carousels, I spotted one in store and they’re beautiful! I even managed to get my hands on some halloumi fries. Not for Christmas but I’ve been dying to try them and I finally found them in stock. They’re so popular and sell out so quick that I was starting to wonder if they’re even real!
How is your Christmas shopping going? Are you a Christmas Panicker or a Christmas Planner?
*Post kindly sponsored by Aldi, as always thoughts are honest & my own. I really do love Aldi!
Some of you think it’s a little early for me to already be talking about Christmas but it’s officially October and advent calendars often sell out so if you’re after a popular one you think about buying it soon, before it’s too late.
I love a beauty advent calendar and this year there are over 70 calendar which can make choosing one near impossible! Some of my favourites are back and some brands which have never released one are doing so this year. I personally love the one with multiple brands such as M&S but there are some really great singular brand ones too. I predict that the best selling on with be the MAC one which I currently don’t have much info on but they’re only producing 1000 and I’m sure it’ll sell like hot cakes.
As always, I will be filming a video with my round up of advent calendars in a couple of weeks but if you want to see a specific calendar unboxed leave me a comment down below and I’ll do my best to do that for you soon.
New calendars are being announces very regularly so I will be updating this post with new calendars and updated links regularly so do check back.

This one seems to be a little bit of a rumour, but I’m pretty certain it’s true as there is a page for it on the MAC Website but I have no photos. The website states that they’ll only be creating 1,000 calendars which will include all your winter skincare must-haves, party makeup and hair essentials, along with exclusive offers.
Still not much info on this one but looks likely to be £125 and worth £197.00.
Marks & Spencer
It’s no secret the Marks & Spencers Calendar last year was my absolute favourite, the brands are great and the price point too. This year you can expect more of the same with brands such as Pixi, REN, L’Occitane and Stila, with a variety of skincare, makeup, body care and more!

There use to be lots of nail polish calendars around but this year Nails Inc is one of the few but I love that it’s a smaller calendar with a mixture of products (because who needs 24 new polishes?) but it’s still nail polish heavy. It includes 12 full-size products, worth over £100; 6 nail products, 2 face masks and 4 lip lip products.

This years NYX ‘Sugar Trip’ Calendar is fun, bright and colourful with an illustration from American artist Natasha Lilipore. I love the mixture of products, there are lip creams, butter glosses, eyeshadows, highlighters, powder and blushers- I much prefer this to last years lips only calendar!

In addition to the 3D calendar, there is also a 2D version which is slightly more affordable and with a slightly different edit of products.
Both are available at Rituals online and in store from October and can also be purchased at John Lewis (2D for £59.50)

Black Friday seems to have come earlier than I expected this year and I’ve seen sales go up since last week so I thought I better start sharing my tips & the best deals.
Let’s start with my tips, I don’t have too many and they’re pretty basic…
1. Know what you want
You have to be quick on Black Friday so knowing what you want makes everything much easier. Have a browse on your favourite websites and save the products you want or make a list of everything you would like to buy.
2. Have an action plan
Prioritise what you want and start there, if you’re planning to just have a browse on some websites/ in some stores, keep them to last as they’ll slow you the most.
3. Find the best deals
Sometimes it’s good to look around, for example; if you’re after a camera or a branded bag which is available from a variety of stores have a look around to see which one has the best offer one.
4. Start your Christmas shopping
Christmas is 4 weeks away, FOUR WEEKS! Start your Christmas shopping now and save yourself some £££. There are some fabulous gifts going on offer this Friday which i can’t tell you about yet but check back Friday and I’ll tell you all about them!
5. Arrive early
Whether you’re braving the stores (and if you are you’re far braver than I am!) or you’re shopping online arrive early. I’ll be staying up until midnight for the start of most of the sales and I recommend you do the same. If you’re heading in-store, find out what time it opens and aim to be there within the first hour or so, there’s no point getting there after all the products have been bought.
6. Don’t forget about Cyber Monday
If your favourite store hasn’t gone on sale on Friday don’t be disheartened, some stores only release their online offers on Monday for Cyber Monday.
7. Don’t buy something just because it’s on sale
It’s so tempting to buy something because it’s a good offer but if you don’t need it or really want it, don’t buy it. It’s not a good offer, that’s a waste of money.
Now remember some of these are ‘warm-up sales’ and are likely to have better offers on in a few days, but here’s what has already started…
I suspect they’ll have more offers coming Friday but next week’s star buy (starts tomorrow) is the Sanctuary Make a Wish Gift Set, usually £45, is £23 and my absolute dream Black Friday pick is the Real Technique Brushes which have been reduced from £100 to just £40. £40 for 10 brushes and two sponges, what a steal!
up to 40% off selected items, I’ll take one of everything pleaseee.
So since it’s still a few days until Black Friday keep checking this post for update sale codes and links but on Friday at Midnight I shall be sharing both a video and blog post with all my must-have amazing deals and trust me, there are some you don’t want to miss!
PS. let me know if you find any other great offers or if you’re having any issues with the code/links I featured
It still surprises me how early on in the year Beauty Advent Calendars are released and how quickly they sell out. I made a whole video about them in October but if that was a little too early for you I thought I would recap on the ones which are still available.
Ciate London Mini Mani Month- HERE
Perfect for any nail polish lover, it’s one of the original beauty advent calendars. It’s filled with eighteen mini paint pot polishes and even includes some exclusive shades, perfect to add a pop of colour to your December.
Sanctuary The Let Go Days Of Christmas HERE
I can’t believe how affordable this one is and if you don’t want to stretch to the average £50+ for a beauty advent calendar then this one is fab. I love the mixture of items behind the doors; everything from body cream to cookie cutters.
NYX Professional Makeup Advent Calendar- HERE
I’ll admit I was a little disappointed by this one as you only get eyeshadows and Soft Matte Lip Creams. I’m not too excited about the eyeshadows but actually, can’t wait to start wearing the Lip Creams as there are lots of different shades for me to try. They’re also adorable makeup minis, which makes everything better.
The Body Shop Beauty Advent Calendars – HERE
This year The Body Shop has three different Advent Calendar offerings, ranging in price. They’re great for anyone that prefers bath & body to makeup but still wants a little makeup. I’m also a huge fan of the boxes instead of the doors as it keeps the box looking nice all the way until Christmas. I had this one last year and I loved it, lots of fab minis which I ended up saving for travel. Little tip: you are supposed to turn the boxes around once you’ve opened them to reveal an image/message at Christmas.
ASOS Beauty Extras Calendar- HERE
Not the most festive packaging but really blogger-esque with the marble print packaging. The brands inside are great and it’s at a good price point too. Inside you can find Philosophy, Elemis, Nuxe and more!
NUXE 10 Beauty Treasures- HERE
A little smaller than the other calendars as it only has 10 doors but it’s a must-have for anyone looking for a beautiful but paraben-free, eco-friendly calendar.
Tanya Burr 12 Days of Christmas- HERE
My younger cousin actually got this one recently and is so excited! It’s a great one for any younger teenage girls and it’s far more affordable than most especially as it’s currently Superdrug’s star buy at only £12! Inside there are nail polishes, lip glosses and glitter pots- great for someone starting off in makeup.
M&S Beauty & Advent Calendar- HERE
Saving the best until last, you might have to do a little hunting around for this one but the website suggests that they’re still available and that they’ll be getting more online. The M&S advent calendar has to be my pick of the lot! It fairly affordable at £35 (with a £35 spend), is a great fun design and most importantly has some great brands and products!
1. One day I might need that black lipstick
2. 400 nail polishes is a normal collection
3. But it’s sooooo pretty!
4. I need to keep the collection together, I can’t get rid of two lipsticks.
5. I want to find a way to make it work
6. I need options
7. It was limited edition, I’ll never be able to replace it.
8. They’re similar but they’re not the same
9. I’m a collector and that’s part of my collection
10. One is my pale foundation, the other is my normal foundation, my tanned foundation, my fake tanned foundation, my really fake tanned foundation and I can use that one for contouring.
And by beauty hoarders I clearly mean myself… but I’m trying to get better!
