When I apply makeup I see foundation, concealer, mascara and a cheek product as the absolute essentials (actually probably just foundation and mascara) but if I had to pick wether to apply a lipstick, eyeshadow, eyeliner or something else then liner will always win.

That said I feel like I am still on the quest for the perfect liner, that doesn’t fade, is intensely black but the most difficult is that I need one that won’t transfer. I have tried so many different liners but unless powder my eyelids I find they always transfer.

One I have been using for a while now is the Eyeko Eye Do Liquid Liner, it’s a great felt tip pen which stays black for a good amount of time. I quite like that the tip is a sturdy one as I think it gives great control but after using if for about a year I decided to move onto a thinner more precise tip although I still come back to it every now and then. It’s a great liner for any beginners and I always have one in my collection.

I then moved on to the Charlotte Tilbury The Feline Flick and Burberry Effortless Liquid Eyeliner, both of which are excellent but also very similar. Packaging wise they are almost identical apart from the colouring and they both have really fine, flexible tips which are great for a really fine liner look. I do find that as the Burberry Effortless Liquid Liner is slightly finer I don’t get quite as much control but it is also a little blacker than the Charlotte Tilbury so it’s hard to pick a favourite from the two. They are my go-to for a really fine line that lasts all day.

I’ve recently come back to Illamasqua Precision Ink which is the darkest one I have ever tried. Unlike the others mentioned this isn’t a pen which means you pick up quite a lot of product which isn’t great if you want a particularly thin liner look, however I find it to be the most waterproof and last all day without moving.

I now need to venture into affordable eyeliners but I am yet to find any that I really love or that stay black for long enough, when I do I’ll be sure to report back.

Just before Christmas I got my first Charlotte Tilbury makeup product and even though I have far too many lipsticks it was still a very exciting day especially with all the hype that is currently surrounding the range.

The lipstick I have is in Red Carpet Red which is the most perfect red shaded which is part of the Matte Revolution Collection, £23. It has a square, angled tip to help achieve a precise line to lips and the 3D glowing pigments help create the illusion of a wider and fuller mouth.

Although I was excited to try this colour I didn’t realise I would fall in love with it so much! It’s just the perfect colour which really brightens the face whilst still looking very classic. I also love that although they are matte they aren’t at all drying and last beautifully with no ugly uneven fading.

This has tempted me into trying so many more Charlotte Tilbury product especially as I also love the Dolce Vita palette. Let me know in the comments which CT products you have tried.

I’ve wanted the Charlotte Tilbury entire range Luxury Eyeshadow palette in The Dolce Vita since it first launched but as I have more than enough palettes I didn’t end up purchasing it. One of my lovely friends was kind enough to buy it for me for Christmas and as you can imagine there was a squeal as I unwrapped it.

I’ve used it almost every day since; the colours are simply stunning, you can get both a day and evening looks out of it, which I love. The Dolce Vita shades are typically designed for brown or green eyes and since mine are somewhere in between I think it works really well. The palette is made up of four warm colours which all work beautifully together but I would also quite happily use them all individually as a wash of colour all over the eyelid. My favourite colour is the top right Enhance as I really love these dark warm colours and the quality is extremely buttery and soft. I thought that Pop would be my favourite (bottom left) however I find the quality to be inferior to the other shadows and it doesn’t offer any where near as much pigmentation. That said it’s still a great asset to the palette and I like to just use my ring finger to press the colour onto my lids.

I love how versatile this palette is and how easy it is to use, it’s also a great one for anyone who is new to eyeshadow or that panics a little when they are faced with a palette with too many colour (blog post here). There are some great videos on YouTube showing the palette in action both from YouTubers and Charlotte herself.

This palette is worth every penny and I now have my eyes on the shade Vintage Vamp.
