I haven’t blogged in almost ten days which is crazy considering that I was initially planning to blog every day of December.
It’s been a hard month for me blogging wise, I uploaded lots of new videos at the beginning of the month but soon became disheartened as they weren’t getting many views but that seems to be something that happened to most people as there were simply so many videos being uploaded on to YouTube because of Vlogmas. On top of that YouTube didn’t seem to be able to handle all the content being uploaded and some of the videos I made we’re processing properly therefore I felt like it was time wasted.
It seems that everything is moving over to video and YouTube is the done thing and although I love YouTube it’s something that I am really struggling to grow, I know everyone says the numbers aren’t important but in all honesty they are when it’s your job. YouTube requires so much work and I end up getting far less views then I do on my blog so it’s difficult to decide where to put my energy. I reached a point this month where I almost considered giving it all up and not blogging any more but I don’t think I would know how to live without it all so I’m giving it all another go and I hope that in 2016 I can feel a little more inspired to produce more content both for here and my YouTube. Theres no point me pretending my content is going to be new and original because there are so many people blogging/vlogging that very little feels original but instead I plan to put lots of hard work into producing something I am proud of.
To go along with that I have had a new layout designed by Phil from PipDig and moved over to WordPress (scary, but good I hope!). I love how clean it looks with just the simply turquoise accents and I’m hoping it will also help me fall back in love with my blog.
I’m sorry if this post was basically filled with random thoughts and feelings but I just wanted to fill you all in and have a bit of a chat.
Thank you so much for everyone that has supported me through 2015, you’re all truly amazing and I love you all so much! I’ve been doing this for so long and I remain surprised that so many of you still read and support ALO.
Most importantly I want to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, filled with love and happiness!
With just 18 sleeps until Christmas I am trying to finish my Christmas shopping as quickly as I can but I’ve been struggling most with boys/men this year. I know what most of my friends would like as it’s usually makeup but I find shopping for men that little bit harder and since I’m probably not the only one I thought I would put together a mini-gift guide.
In terms of beauty I don’t have a huge selection this year but I really love the items I have picked. For fragrance this year I have picked Atkinsons 24 Old Bond Street, Atkinsons is a brand I have only really discovered recently but have fallen in love with! Its quite premium but you get a luxurious looking bottle and the scents also smell very premium. This scent is quite a fresh day time one but it’s worth looking at the other offering from Atkinsons from different scents to their body lotions.
My next beauty pick is from MONU, a brand I love but which I don’t hear too much about. The Monuskin for men Everyday Essential is a really great set for any man that love skincare as it has almost everything he would need; a body way, scrub, energy rub, age combat, eye gel and more! At £60 I think it’s a great deal as you get eight full size products, all housed in perfect box.
For a stocking filler this year I will be going for the Mandara Spa Men Essential Kit, at £5 it has a post-shave balm and lip butter, both a great size for any many that likes to travel as they fit perfectly into an overnight bag.
This Christmas I am on the quest for the perfect pair of Chelsea Boots for my boyfriend, with ASOS and Topman having great selections. Check these out if you’re looking for a smarter suede pair.
I must admit that I’m partly writing this for myself, since I’m doing vlogmas on my YouTube it’s hard to stay completely on track with my Blog but I’ll be using most of these ideas myself too…

There are hundreds of candles on the market but they make a truly luxurious gift for almost anyone. I have so many at the moment that I thought I would talk you for my favourites to help you with your own Christmas wish list or your Christmas shopping.
Theres quite a few and I’m awful at describing scents so this will probably not be the greatest post…
If you are looking to add a little sparkle to someones Christmas/life through a candle then I have two equally beautiful picks. Space NK Shimmering Spice is a great festive one with a blend of cinnamon, citrus and vanilla- perfect for a festive party. 100 Acres Sweet Orange, Cinnamon and Clove is another great one, made with 100& natural essential oils- the scent is my favourite for cosy winter nights in.
If you’re on a budget fear not, as you will not be missing out. Sanctuary has a great range of candles but Yankee Candle would be my pick for inexpensive festive ones. There’s such a huge range that it’s almost to hard to pick; if you like sweet scents then Christmas Cupcake is perfect! If you want something a little more luxe than the Avon Winter Nights Candle has three wicks and is probably one of my favourite scents from all I’ve mentioned.
Keeping with the orange theme Origins Feel Good Candle and La Montana Winter Oranges smell absolutely dreamy! Origins Feel Good Candle is out 7th December and comes beautifully house in a recycled wine glass base, even more excitingly Origins will be planting a tree for every candle sold in partnership with Global ReLead. For an organic, natural, really relaxing candle then Lucy Annabella is the way to go, Niaouli & Lavender is my current favourite, especially great after a stressful December. If you’re looking for a more unisex candle or love Oud then you will love Van Cleef & Arpels Perfumed candles which is a really sexy, sophisticated scents!
But above all my two picks are Neom and Jo Malone, they’re my absolute favourites to give, receive and burn. Both brands do really special candles perfect for Christmas gifts!
I can officially get very excited about Christmas without people telling me it’s too early! Happy 1st December to everyone who is excited as me.
As it’s December there are lots of fun things going on.
I will be holding 12 giveaway, the first one just went live on my Instagram but there will be lots more to be won over the next couple of days.
I will also be uploading to YouTube Sunday-Thursday, some videos will be daily vlogs and other beauty videos which I really hope you enjoy. If you have any specific requests than leave them below in the comments but don’t forget to subscribe to my channel here.
If you’re starting your Christmas shopping or are looking for ideas on what to buy your friends and family than check out my gift guides below. There will be two more coming over the next days.
Most importantly, I hope you all have a fabulous December!
