Some of you think it’s a little early for me to already be talking about Christmas but it’s officially October and advent calendars often sell out so if you’re after a popular one you think about buying it soon, before it’s too late.

I love a beauty advent calendar and this year there are over 70 calendar which can make choosing one near impossible! Some of my favourites are back and some brands which have never released one are doing so this year. I personally love the one with multiple brands such as M&S but there are some really great singular brand ones too. I predict that the best selling on with be the MAC one which I currently don’t have much info on but they’re only producing 1000 and I’m sure it’ll sell like hot cakes.

As always, I will be filming a video with my round up of advent calendars in a couple of weeks but if you want to see a specific calendar unboxed leave me a comment down below and I’ll do my best to do that for you soon.

New calendars are being announces very regularly so I will be updating this post with new calendars and updated links regularly so do check back.

selfridges mothers day Diptyque RoseFor anyone that is as last minute as me with their Mother’s Day gifts I thought I would share a quick look at some of the bits Selfridges which are perfect for any Mums that love beauty. It’s Mother’s Day on Sunday so you have just a couple of days left to pick up all your pressies.

My first pick from the lot has to be the Charlotte Tilbury creams, I just love the brand and these are a really lovely treat. I’ve tried the original Magic Cream which was beautiful and I’m expecting the same from the Eye Rescue and Night Cream. You could splash out on the Magic Cream Duo or pick the one item which your mum would appreciate most.

I think perfumes and candles are also always a great option for any female although it can be tricky to choose the perfect scent for someone else. Aerin is brand which I’m still exploring but their fragrances are real stand out products, they look really luxurious and elegant, plus theres a nice range so you can find one that your mother will love. Mediterranean honeysuckle is exclusive to Selfridges but pretty amazing!

I’m also really loving rose at the moment and the Diptyque range doesn’t disappoint! It works great for any age and I must admit that I am super excited to burn this candle! The Rose Roll On also comes in the most beautiful packaging, is the perfect handbag size and is very affordable as far as luxury perfumes go.

As my mum isn’t huge into beauty I often opt for body and skin products as everyone needs these and it’s always nice to make an everyday task such as creaming your body that little bit more lavish. Estée Lauder’s Revitalising Supreme Body Creme is the perfect pre-spring pick me up, it’s deeply nourishing and adds the most beautiful radiance to the body. However for my mother, top of her list is always a great hand cream, especially the Clarins Super Restorative Hand Cream which is the perfect anti0ageing, intensive hand cream!

For makeup loving mothers I don’t think you can beat a good lip colour such as the Giorgio Armani Lip Maestros which are grown up matte lip lacquers that provide rich, intense colour. Alternatively everyone needs a good mascara and Estee Lauder Sumptuous Knockout is the ideal one for anyone looking to add lift and definition to their lashes.

My final beauty recommendation is one I have been trying over the last week myself and it’s the Suqqu Musculate Massage & Mask Cream. It’s currently my favourite relaxation, pamper item. It’s a rich and highly moisturising cream which can really be used to massage the skin in order to promote blood circulation, hydrate and add the perfect glow to the skin.

Have you bought your Mother’s Day Gift yet? Did you pick up any beauty bits?

PS. I’m getting a facial tomorrow a Radical Skincare Facial tomorrow (which would make the perfect Mother’s Day Gift too!) so join me on Snapchat to follow my day: alittleobsessed

WWI am super excited to be working with Weight Watchers as their beauty and fashion expert for their My #WomanKind project. If you haven’t seen their video then click here as it’s a must see and really got me thinking about how mean we can often be to ourselves. It’s heartbreaking to think we call ourselves names that we wouldn’t dream of calling other people and concentrate on being nice to others but forget to be nice to ourselves. Since developing a better relationship with ourselves needs to start both inside and out, today I am sharing my skincare tips for anyone who is struggling with the winter weather, I’m suffering with the winter blues myself.

1.Watch what you eat and drink
A little boring I know, but what you eat and drink can really affect your skin. Avoid too much sugar, alcohol and salt but make sure you are drinking lots of water. Swap a cup of coffee for a cup of lemon water to really help your skin.

2) Avoid overly hot water
Since it is cold it’s very tempting to stand under a hot shower for longer than is necessary but this really adds to dehydrating the skin so it’s best to avoid it. I’m not suggesting you have cold showers but warm is better than boiling hot.

3) Avoid over cleansing
In summer when skin can often be very oily double cleansing is great but in winter I like to take a less is more approach and use an oil and balm cleanser as these are often less stripping and more hydrating on the skin. You still want to make sure you are removing all your makeup but you want to do this without also removing all the moisture from the skin. My personal favourite cleanser is the Omorovicza Thermal cleansing balm.

4) Swap to hydrating face masks
Most people use clay face masks in the hope that they will help decongest/oily the skin but in winter when skin is already dehydrated it’s much better to swap over to a more hydrating one such as the Clarins Hydra Quench Mask.

5) Add oils and Serums
More than at any other time of the year serums and oils can really help the skin, my favourite is the Clarins Blue Orchid Oil or the Oskia Get up & Glow Serum.

6) Don’t forget the moisturiser
Just because you are adding oils and serum it doesn’t mean you can skip moisturiser, instead layer it on top to really inject moisture and life back into your skin

7) Lip Balm
Since your lips don’t have oil glands you should really be taking care of them all year round. Avoid licking your lips and instead use a lip balm like By Terry Baume De Rose or Nuxe Reve De Miel.

I’d love to hear all your tips in the comments below and check out my interview with WeightWatchers here.

I love being tanned wether fake or real however fake tan still has quite a bad reputation. I get so many questions on here, social media and YouTube about what’s the best fake tan and if I have any tips so here goes…

Like with everything practice makes (almost) perfect, so I always recommend the first thing you try to fake tan be your legs, as they are really easy to cover up. You’ll need a mitt, then you simply apply the tan onto the mitt and then onto your body, I like to do a few long sweeps up to distribute the product and then buff it in. Elbows, knees, hands, feet and ankles are typically the trickiest part- cream your elbows and knees lightly to avoid too much product being applied there and apply sparingly to your feet and hands.

I often get asked if I fake tan my face and I do, but it’s personal preference. I like the look it gives and allows me to wear less makeup but lots of people just apply a slightly darker shade of foundation to match the rest of their body. I sometime use face specific fake tans but that isn’t always the case, I do however avoid anything overly drying ones and I don’t find that I have overly sensitive skin so have never had any problems with applying body ones on my face. Again as these are designed for the body they are typically darker than face ones, a little more drying and I would stick to face ones if I had sensitive skin so do bear that in mind.

I typically apply my tradition tans over night, this way I don’t have to go out with the guide colour on, there is no risk I will spill anything on it and other people don’t have to experience the fake tan scent. I then wash the guide colour off in the morning, avoiding very hot water which will strip the tan and moisturise daily. I’d also recommend exfoliating regularly about 2 days after the tan has been applied, it’s tempting not to do this but it’ll help the tan fade more evenly. I also like to remove all of my fake tan every few weeks, give my skin a little break and start all over again but this isn’t really necessary if your good at exfoliating and moisturising. I also find it’s nice to give your skin a slightly longer break as fake tan can be drying, I like to do this over the summer when I am naturally more tanned but I know most people do this in winter when they hide their skin under clothes.

So down to the big questions- which tan do I use?

The truth is most fake tans nowadays are good, they’re all typically quite olive in tone so there is no need to worry about being orange and it’s all about finding what you like.

I find gradual tans too difficult to work with and I want quite quick instant results so they’re simply not for me. That said I do really like the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster which are drops you apply to your regular face cream and body cream for a hint of colour. If I were to use a gradual tan I would go for the Sienna X Gradual Glowing Self Tan as I’m not a huge fan of the slightly cheaper ones.

I think mousses are great for a beginners, they do dry quite quickly so you’ll need to work fast but they offer a beautiful colour, are tinted so you can see where you apply them, are quite easy to control and the fact they dry quickly means you can get on with your day. My favourites are: Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam and Madame La La Self Tanning Mousse.

There are also liquid tans which are similar to mousses but are often a little harder to control (on the actual mitt) but offer a really dark colour if that’s what you’re looking for. My favourites are He Shi Liquid Tan and Lauren’s Way Glam Tan

Personally I find mousses a little drying on my skin so I typically love lotions, I find that they’re more hydrating, fade more evenly and some can offer as dark a colour as the mousse. It does take a little longer to dry so often requires me to wait around for it to dry but that’s not a big problem to me. My favourites are Bondi Sands Lotion, Lauren’s Way Self Tanning Lotion.

If I’ve only remembered I want to tan on the day of a big event (or I just need a tan quickly) then 1 hour quick tans are perfect. They require at least an hour to develop and before you can wash off the guide colour but the longer your leave them on the darker they get. I occasionally leave it on for 3 hours but they do get very dark. The downside to these is that they are very drying so I try to only use them when I have no other option and just make sure I moisturise lots after. My favourites are James Read Express Bronzing Mousse and He-shi Rapid one hour tan

If I don’t even have time for one hour tan then instant, wash-off tan is the best (doesn’t require you to wash off a guide colour, you just wash it off when you want to remove it) and I often use it over fake tan as it offers a little bit of coverage to give limbs a airbrushed look. My favourites are Cocoa Brown Lovely legs and Bondi Sands Wash Off.

When I do use a face one I usually go for Madame La La Face Bronzing Serum, Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask and Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning

I feel that this was such a long post that it may make it seem even more scary but honestly it really isn’t, if you make a mistake you can almost always cover it and it will wash off and fade within a couple of days. I really love fake tan and think it has a very positive effect on my mood and confidence, it makes me look slimmer and healthier which is a good thing in my books.

PS. I’m currently using the Bondi Sands Lotion in Light (usually use dark) and I think it’s actually amazing!

I’m a little late sharing these as they arrived whilst I was away, but I’m really in love with them so I just had to snap a few photos and give my two cents.

The Clarins Joli Rouge (£19.50) range isn’t a new range; they were previously housed in silver tubes and I found that some had more shimmer than I usually like in my lipsticks so I was never blown away by them. Now in their far more luxurious gold casing they have really caught my eye and I have been using them lots over the last few weeks. Clarins have released 25 new shades, all revamped with a new moisture rich formula which is really something I like in my lipsticks.

Shade wise there is a large shade range; bright oranges, deep plums, classic reds, girly pink and every day nudes. I’ve used about six of them and have loved the shades, formula as well as how they look and feel on the lips. They apply really well, you can get a light tint of colour from a quick sweep or quickly build it up to a bolder colour. Although they are moisture rich I don’t think they’re too shiny which keeps all of them still looking very modern. I was most surprised by how beautifully they last, I soft plum earlier this week and I remained looking great after hour of wear and lunch!

I’m yet to pick a favourite as there are just so many beautiful shades but I’m sure I’ll be talking about them a lot in the coming months.

Very excited to have so many new lip colours to try!
