I like to start the new year off the way I would like to go on, so typically I have a clear out (as I want to be more organised), fake tan (because I would love to be tanned all year round) and sort out my hair as I would love nice hair in 2016.
This year Fudge Professional was nice enough to help and hooked me up with a bit of a hair refresh as my hair was really in need of some TLC. They didn’t change too much but my hair was starting to look dry and unloved as it hadn’t been coloured in quite a while and the colour that was still in it had faded. The colourist added some high and low-lights, to add an expensive, sunkissed look to my hair which I love and which fits perfectly with the current blonde/brunette (bronde) trend which is about and I love it! I did get a little bit of a trim too, as my hair is so fine that any unnecessary ends can really make it look flat and lifeless.
Since the cut and colour I’ve been using some of the Fudge Professional range and loving it! I’ve used quite a lot from the Fudge Urban range before but this is the first time using the professional products and I love them just as much as love the Urban. The Colour Lock shampoo and conditioner are not only keeping my hair colour looking great but my hair feels amazing too but my favourite hair product of the month has to be Light Hed-ed Hair oil. It adds moisture and hydrates my hair without weighing it down and I must admit I am pretty addicted to this stuff already!
Not predicting a huge hair change in 2016, probably just more of the same…
At the end of last month I booked to get my hair fully dyed dark, I scheduled it for a months time and decided that I’d be ready then to face autumn and winter with darker hair. However, I was wrong!
When I got to Gro Hampstead, Serafina and I agreed that instead of going dark all over she’d instead darken my roots and blend it with my lighter ends. I’ve been getting my hair cut & coloured with Serafina at Gro Hampstead for the past year and would highly recommend her if you’re London based and looking for a hairdresser. We’ve changed it a fair bit over the last year from Balayage to dark brown and back again but she always gives me exactly what I ask for and I always leave really happy.
My hair now is a little darker on the top which I love but Serafina also used a darker and warmer toner on the ends too, it’s a little more autumnal but I’m so happy to still have the gradation in colour. The cut is really anything different but she kindly curled it too with a medium tong which I think works particularly well with any sort of balayage/ombre.
I was so worried about going dark and really though I would miss the lighter but I’m so happy with the current shade that I haven’t missed it at all. I’ve booked to go a little darker again but I’m so in love with this shade that I’m not too sure I will…
If you are looking for a London hairdresser Serafina is amazing and based in Hampstead but I’ve heard generally great things from lots of my friends about Gro London as a whole and they’re quite reasonably priced too.
Will you be going darker for the colder months?
I’ve been using Herbal Essences for a while now but decided to switch over to Dazzling Shine Shampoo and Conditioner over the last week, as it’s now autumn and I want to keep my hair as shiny as possible. I typically use a few styling products after the shower too to help with shine but I love that this shampoo leaves my hair shiny and smooth with very little effort, I can just wash, dry and go.
The Dazzling Shine Moisturising Shampoo cleanses hair and the conditioner is serum-infused meaning it leaves my hair with a silky shine that lasts the whole day.
Although it’s a great shampoo and conditioner the scent is probably my favourite thing about it! It has a really refreshing and awakening citrus scent which not only smells amazing in the shower but also throughout the day, the citrus scent leaves me awake and ready to tackle the day in the morning and adds a little bit of confidence throughout my day. In fact, Herbal Essences surveyed 1000 women and 52% of women felt more prepared for their day and 43% felt more happy- which is pretty impressive!
I’m not sure my hair has ever smelt so good!

Whilst away on holiday in August I decided to try out the new Remington PROtect Range and their Switch and PROtect challenge. Although I used products to protect my hair whilst in the sun and applied lots of masks, I wanted to ensure that my blow dryer and straightener weren’t causing damage too.
I was particularly excited to try the Remington PROtect Dryer as I use a blow dryer daily. It has thermacare technology to dry hair faster with less heat and therefore causing less damage. I usually dry my hair using the highest setting on my blow dryer but found using the second setting rather than the third was perfect for mine finer hair. I’m impressed by how light this blow dryer is which made it great to travel with but more importantly it left my hair looking really shiny.
Although I don’t often straighten my hair I think on holiday it’s a really quick and easy way to ensure your hair is styled. The Remington PROtect Straightener has hydracare technology, which combines a cool mist with the optimum heat to deliver shiny, healthy, less damaged hair. I love the slightly wider plates on this straightener as I was able to straighten my hair quickly.
I was really happy to have taken the PROtect on holiday with me and it couldn’t have come at a better time. My hair is shiny, hydrated and feels healthy despite all the time spent in the sun and using heat on it daily.
If you too would like to Switch and PROtect then check out the giveaway below to win a PROtect Dryer and Straightener.
When it comes to doing my hair I always start with by giving my hair a quick wash and blow dry. Although I don’t tend to be too picky about shampoo, I have to use some sort of volume spray and start by drying it upside down. I’ve recently been using the Babyliss Diamond Radiance Blow Dryer as it has three heat and power settings which I think is an essential for an at home blow dry!
I’ve also been giving the Babyliss Curl Secret a go, after looking at it for a while I’ve finally had a chance to try it and it’s completely unlike anything I have ever tried. If you don’t know how the Curl Secret works you slide a section of hair into the tool, press the sides together and the hair will then get sucked in (it’s not painful!) and beeps when the hair is ready to be realised.
I thought it was going to be a little difficult to use but it is actually the easiest tool I have ever used to achieve curls. The curls you get are quite tight and I don’t feel that you have quite as much control as a tong or wand but it’s so easy to use that I simply don’t find myself reaching for anything else. It’s great if like me, you always burn yourself with a tong and it makes curling the back of your hair particularly easy in comparison. It also has a few different heat and time settings to help you get the curl you want but I still don’t think I’ve mastered it.
A great alternative to a hair tong especially for beginners or someone looking to get perfect curls quickly and easily. It is quite expensive but no more than you would pay for highend straighteners so worth looking into if you curl your hair regularly.
I’m sure I’ll be using it over the weekend
