Since the weather in London has been surprisingly good for September, I have been resisting the temptation to be boring and put on a pair of jeans and instead have been opting for dresses.

I recently picked up this utility dress from Topshop which I really love, the colour is perfect and I do love a good shirt dress as I think they’re really versatile all year round. Since it was a day look and I had a lot of walking to do I just teamed the dress with a pair of leopard flat, Daniel Wellington watch, my usual handbag and sunglasses. It’s nothing fancy or groundbreaking but I really like it and I’m really enjoying the weather too!

The reason I was brave enough to bare my legs in autumn thanks to the Braun Silk-epil 5 wet & dry, as I usually hide my legs as soon as August ends. Braun asked me to take part in the 30 days of switch up your style campaign, which I agreed to as I love the idea of always being outfit ready all year round. I will admit that I usual start to show my legs a little less love in autumn and winter, which is awful as I am always left with only trouser or tights options.

I started epilating about a month ago now, I get my legs waxed in the summer but it can be very costly and time consuming all year round so I swapped over to epilating and have really been enjoying it. It’s not as painful as I thought it was and I even use it on really short hairs meaning I don’t have to wait too long between epilating sessions. The Silk-epil 5 Wet & Dry can be used in water or out which I love as I find using it in the shower can help open the pores in my skin and really reduce any sort of discomfort.

Adding the Braun Silk-epil 5 Wet & Dry to my routing has made my morning routine so much easier as I don’t have to worry about shaving my legs but even more exciting is that my legs are now always ready for a great skirt or a beautiful dress, even if I was feeling particularly lazy that morning!

How do you get your legs ready for your favourite dress/skirt?

It seems every brand is releasing a facial cleansing brush and they all seem to do pretty much the same thing. That’s why I was excited to find out that the Braun Cleansing brush does more than just cleanse your face but it’s also a facial epilator!

The Braun 2 in 1 Cleansing Brush and Epilator is the world’s first- it cleanses the skin, as well as removing any unwanted facial hair from the root.
Since Braun is the world No1 epilator brand, the first thing I tried was the epilator function which removes even fine, shorter hairs. The size makes it perfect for tidying up eyebrows in between brow waxes to avoid any sort of monobrow or to de-fuzz the upper lip area (no Movember here!) I personally like to do my upper lip at home as I feel it doesn’t require much skill or precision and also means I don’t have to stick to appointment times but I hate having to heat up wax for such a small area- which is why this is perfect. You don’t have to wait for it to heat up and there is no mess, you simply attach the epilator head and remove all your unwanted hairs, even those short hairs that waxing can’t remove. Most people worry about the pain of epilating which isn’t as bad as it use to be and I would say it’s similar to that of threading, so nothing to be too worried about.

What I first noticed about the cleansing brush, is that it’s a little more gentle than most that I have tried, which is a real plus for me. I find that although it deep cleans my skin and pores, it doesn’t irritate my sensitive skin. It’s the perfect tool to help you achieve flawless, smooth skin.
It’s all fairly compact, comes with a cover, storage pouch and lighted mirror- making it the perfect travel beauty gadget or simply to be stored in your handbag/work drawer for hairs that need immediate attention/removal.

It seems it is the products I use the most that I never mention on my blog, these are the products I use (almost) every single day and couldn’t live without. They’re not overly exciting and I may change from brand to brand sometimes but I though I would share what I am currently using.

When it comes to deodorant I am not too fussy over which one I use as long as it smells okay, that said I do prefer a roll on and have been using Nivea Pearl & Beauty for a while. As the glass bottle isn’t very travel/handbag friendly I also use the Soft & Gentle Orange Blossom & Grapefruit Spray deodorant which lasts all day and smells great.

After washing my hair  every morning I couldn’t live without my GHD blow dryer… I love it! I have been using it for years now, it has all the settings I need and is powerful, helping me dry my hair as quickly as possible. I’ve also been loving the Airmotion Hair Brush to untangle my hair both whilst wet and dry. My only other hair essential would be Batiste Dry Shampoo which I think I have been using to close to ten years, I have never been so loyal to anything!

When I don’t have time for a professional wax I usually just use a disposable razor and find the mens ones to be much better than the women’s. My favourite is the Gillette Mach 3 Disposable Razors as it never irritate my skin and I find it to be good quality for the price. For my eyebrow I adore the Tweezerman tweezer and can’t believe it has taken me so long to get a pair! I’ve also been using the SweetEase Face Waxing Kit for my upper lip as I find them to be easier to use then most at home wax strips.

The biggest essentials are, of course, a toothbrush and toothpaste- I have been using the Professional Whitening Toothpaste and matching toothbrush from White Wash Laboratories. Although I don’t think there is a huge difference between toothpaste and toothbrushes, I have actually really been enjoying these two and would say my teeth are looking a little whiter.

What are your beauty essentials?

Last week I went to the Benefit Flagship Boutique on Carnaby Street to get my eye brows tinted, waxed and shaped. I have been to Benefit before for a brow shape and was really impressed with the service and after almost two month of not having my eyebrows done I was looking forward to it. Although my eyebrows are really dark I like to have them tinted as they can be a little sparse towards the start. I find it helps define those hairs and I just prefer the colour the tint gives. Once the tinting and waxing was all done and I was very happy with the shape they went on to the brow makeup.
Benefit has two main products used to fill in brows; Brow Zing and Gimme Brows. Brow Zing is made up of two brushes, a paid of tweezers, a brow wax and brow powder, making it a great palette compact palette with almost everything I need (although I’d love a spoolie.) It’s the perfect shade for my brows and although I find it quite blendable and natural it lasts all day. If I’m look for brow perfection I will follow that with the Gimme Brows gel which hold my brows in place whilst filling out any spareness in y brows. I also love Gimme Brows for days when I’m in a rush, haven’t got time to mess about with the preciseness of powder this is my go to, super quick and easy.
The Benefit High Brow Glow is probably my favourite out of the three products. With a quick swipe under the brow bone, eyebrows look instantly neater and in the inner corner of the eye to make eyes look wider and more awake.
Where do you get your brows done? What products have you been using?

Last week I spoke about my 2 week before holiday prep so today we’re tackling the day before. This may all seem a little much to some but I like to do as much as possible before my holiday to not only keep my skin and hair looking good but also to save me from having to spend time doing my nails/shaving my legs whilst out there.

For me the most important thing before going away has to be hair removal, I like to do it the day before so I am sure it will last the whole holiday. Next week I’m going to be trying out Ministry of Waxing as apparently they use special wax that reduces the pain which I am hoping will get me through my bikini wax. If waxing isn’t your thing (which it should be!) just make sure everything is nice and de-fuzzes before hitting the plane as it will just mean you can jump straight in the pool as soon as you get there. Also don’t forget to do your eyebrows for all those makeup-free beach selfies.

If you have the time masks are a great indulgence and can be done whilst you do your last minute packing. Go for something very hydrating as summer holidays tend to suck all the moisture out of you as does time spend in airplanes. I wrote a whole post about my favourite face masks (link here) but also don’t forget to use a nice rich hair mask.

Mani’s and Pedi’s are essentials in my eyes but you can easily do them at home if you have time. I have a whole post here on how to get your feet summer ready and your hands are just as easy. Don’t forget to apply a good top coat to keep them look shiny all holiday, I personally love the Models Own Hyper Shine at the moment. If you are looking for great colours try either Morgan Taylor or Essie and I’m sure they’ll have you covered.

Exfoliate your whole body and then follow with a moisturiser. Be careful moisturising and exfoliating over recently waxed skin but be sure to moisturise everywhere else, it will get your skin looking plumper, healthier and ready to be sun kissed. If you’re applying just before bed I’d recommend the Neal’s Yard Beauty Sleep Body Butter to insure you also wake up feeling very rested.

My ultimate holiday luxury has to be individual fake lashes, not essential at all but make the world of difference if you can afford them. I had mine last year and I absolutely loved them and didn’t have to worry about mascara for a whole 3 weeks which was amazing. The real reason I love them though has to be for the beach/swimming pool, it really helps define your eyes with no risk of mascara not being as waterproof as you had hoped. I’m getting mine done at Perfect Lashes and will share the results soon.
