Wow, another week gone and it’s almost the end of the year. Where does the time go?! I’ve had another jammed packed week, which is always fun but I’m excited for a Christmas rest.

At the beginning of the week I went to the launch party of Bumble and bumbles spray chalks and Pret-a-powder which was super pretty! I’ve given the Spray Chalks a go and actually really like them (more on that another day) but haven’t yet had a chance to try the Pret-a-powder.

Tuesday Microsoft invited me down to a Gingerline event MI1020 which is a little like secret cinema but with food. You are texted the first clue and given various other ones whilst being led around east London to find the final spot where you will be eating your dinner. We ended up in a east London garage but had some great food. I think it’s finished now but it’s worth following them on Twitter and keeping an eye out for future event as it was great fun.

Wednesday me and my mum were treated to a mini facial from the Elizabeth Arden girls at the Oxford Street Boot’s counter which was nice and super hydrating- just what I need in the weather. Surprisingly the mini facials are actually free and anyone can book one, of course they do try to sell you a few products but if you were planning to buy an Elizabeth Arden product anyway it’s worth booking one.

I was spoilt even more on Thursday in John Lewis Brent Cross. Whilst doing my Christmas Shopping I stopped off for a relaxing massage with Deleor which was amazing. I always get horrible back pain when I have to carry any sort of bag so that was a really nice treat. However I particularly enjoyed my mini lesson with the girls on the Bare Minerals counter. I’ve heard such great things about Bare Minerals but never really tried anything but they sat me down and talked me through everything. I left with a beautiful smoky eye perfect for any Christmas party and was also impressed by their foundation (horrible iPhone photo below)

I never thought about popping into John Lewis for some pre-party/post-shopping pampering but it makes such a great present to yourself at Christmas time. Everyone needs/wants a little pampering especially around a stressful time like Christmas!

This was my Christmas Jumper that I wore on Christmas Jumper Day- what did you wear?

Before I went on holiday I was invited to Brent Cross for a bit of a pamper day… and how could I say no?! Brent Cross is one of my favourite shopping centres as it has just the right shops (wish it had a Primark though), is a decent size and you don’t pay parking!

Although usually I head to Brent Cross for shopping it was nice to spend the day there getting pampered and theres a lot of choice all under one roof. You can have your hair, fake tan and nails done or pop by for a massage and facial. I was lucky enough to have a facial at Decleor in John Lewis, a treatment and blow dry in Toni & Guy, my makeup done at Nars (John Lewis) and a finishing hour spent with their personal shopper.

I hadn’t had a facial in a little while so the Decleor one was much appreciated. John Lewis has a variety of rooms around for private treatment for different brands which is nice as you can get your facial from one company and massage from another if you wish all whilst picking up a new dress and shoes. I also had a mini massage to go along with it which was bliss!

I then headed over for a blow dry at Toni & Guy which was nice as my hair was a little messed up from the facial (which is to be expected) with a really lovely stylist (if only I could remember her name!) but after that it was straight to Nars for Makeup which I was desperately in need of.

At Nars I met with one of their makeup artists who done the whole of my makeup and taught me so much. I wasn’t a huge Nars lover before hand but Nars has now well and truly made it into my makeup bag (I’m sure I’ll share lots within the next few weeks).

Lastly I met with Gayle Rinkoff who is Brent Cross’s personal stylist. I didn’t have a full on experience like you would if your were to personally to book Gayle Rinkoff as I had already bought all my holiday clothes and wasn’t looking to spend too much money. However Gayle Rinkoff helped me buy a great new denim shirt which I had been searching for for a while. We actually found it in GAP and it was perfect but I very rarely shop in GAP so probably wouldn’t have found it by myself. Gayle showed me what she does with her clients and it looks perfect if you feel you have lost your way a little or simply need a little help updating your wardrobe. I also think it would make a great present for someone who has possibly been struggling a little with their style or as a nice treat to someone who just needs some retail therapy!

I then went of for some quick lunch before heading home fully pampered and ready to go on holiday!

Brent Cross is a great place to head for a full day of pampering! Park your car outside and head inside where you can pick and chose what treatment you want and from which brand. Great to indulge in some food and shopping too!

Have you been to Brent Cross for more than shopping?

Last week I attended the launch of the New (and very expensive at over £7 Million) beauty hall on Oxford Street. The Beauty Hall is based on a town square, they have premium makeup and skincare around the outside of the central hub and then niche brands, fragrances, nail polishes and skin care in the middle.

It is actually a really great place to shop at first I thought it was simply going to be a beauty hall like every other beauty hall but there is something extra special about this one. Most the premium brands have their own little section almost like a little boutique, they are really well set out and easy to navigate and offers a premium experience. I also love that unlike most beauty halls they have included some inexpensive brands such as Topshop. It is in fact the only Topshop stand outside a Topshop and also they have the only Burberry concession not in Havey Nichols or Harrods. They have a variety of beauty rooms too as well as selling electrical beauty goods.
I would really recommend having a look at the new John Lewis Beauty Hall even just for a browse as it such a lovely experience. Its very light, well laid out and there is something for every price budget. The variety of brands is just great; Topshop, L’oreal, Givenchy, Ren, Nars, Liz Earle (with the new makeup range- more about that in another post), Essie, Opi, Caudalie, Burberry and so much more
. Possibly my new favourite place to buy makeup or at least browse highend makeup!
Have you visited the new beauty hall yet? Are you planning a visit?

To celebrate John Lewis’ collaboration with YSL they asked me and a few other beauty bloggers to create a look inspired by YSL’s catwalk looks. I chose these two YSL catwalk looks to take inspiration from as I love the heavy eyebrow and eyeliner as well as the pretty pink lips, exactly the sort of makeup looks which attract me.

Now I am no makeup artist and there is a reason why I don’t usually show looks and tutorials on my blog but I did give it a go! It isn’t perfect and there are a few things I would change but since I am currently on holiday I didn’t want the skin to look too heavy. Also the model is beautifully pale and since I am on holiday I am a little more tanned.

The first item I knew I need was a peachy shade so I chose no.23 Pearly Peach/Mink Brown* simply for the peachy shade. Although it was a beautiful colour it actually isn’t too intense so I had to work hard to pack on the colour. I simply ran it over my lids slightly higher than my crease although I would recommend going up to the brow bone. Although I used black eyeliner you could also use the Mink Brown shade along the lash line to give it a gentler look.

I used YSL Touche Eclat Radiant Touch* under my eye area but as it was a little light I used it under my foundation and also on top of my foundation on my cheek and brow bone as a highlighter. The shade range is quite good but buying online is quite hard so I would recommend going in to store.

My favourite product of all was the YSL Volupte Sheer Candy lipstick* in Luscious Cherry. These Lipsticks are divine, the packaging is beautiful, the consistency is perfect for summer months, they are hydrating and this one smells of water mellon! The sheer colour allows you to chose either a light wash or you can build it up for a more intense shade. I must admit that online this colour looked a little more pink but is still a beautiful colour although it doesn’t fit the look quite as well as I had hoped.

I have really enjoyed taking part in this challenge and have completely fallen in love with this lipstick, can’t wait to try some more YSL lip products. All Yves Saint Laurent products can be bought online and instore

from John Lewis check out both the makeup and skincare range online.
