I love being tanned wether fake or real however fake tan still has quite a bad reputation. I get so many questions on here, social media and YouTube about what’s the best fake tan and if I have any tips so here goes…

Like with everything practice makes (almost) perfect, so I always recommend the first thing you try to fake tan be your legs, as they are really easy to cover up. You’ll need a mitt, then you simply apply the tan onto the mitt and then onto your body, I like to do a few long sweeps up to distribute the product and then buff it in. Elbows, knees, hands, feet and ankles are typically the trickiest part- cream your elbows and knees lightly to avoid too much product being applied there and apply sparingly to your feet and hands.

I often get asked if I fake tan my face and I do, but it’s personal preference. I like the look it gives and allows me to wear less makeup but lots of people just apply a slightly darker shade of foundation to match the rest of their body. I sometime use face specific fake tans but that isn’t always the case, I do however avoid anything overly drying ones and I don’t find that I have overly sensitive skin so have never had any problems with applying body ones on my face. Again as these are designed for the body they are typically darker than face ones, a little more drying and I would stick to face ones if I had sensitive skin so do bear that in mind.

I typically apply my tradition tans over night, this way I don’t have to go out with the guide colour on, there is no risk I will spill anything on it and other people don’t have to experience the fake tan scent. I then wash the guide colour off in the morning, avoiding very hot water which will strip the tan and moisturise daily. I’d also recommend exfoliating regularly about 2 days after the tan has been applied, it’s tempting not to do this but it’ll help the tan fade more evenly. I also like to remove all of my fake tan every few weeks, give my skin a little break and start all over again but this isn’t really necessary if your good at exfoliating and moisturising. I also find it’s nice to give your skin a slightly longer break as fake tan can be drying, I like to do this over the summer when I am naturally more tanned but I know most people do this in winter when they hide their skin under clothes.

So down to the big questions- which tan do I use?

The truth is most fake tans nowadays are good, they’re all typically quite olive in tone so there is no need to worry about being orange and it’s all about finding what you like.

I find gradual tans too difficult to work with and I want quite quick instant results so they’re simply not for me. That said I do really like the Clarins Radiance-Plus Golden Glow Booster which are drops you apply to your regular face cream and body cream for a hint of colour. If I were to use a gradual tan I would go for the Sienna X Gradual Glowing Self Tan as I’m not a huge fan of the slightly cheaper ones.

I think mousses are great for a beginners, they do dry quite quickly so you’ll need to work fast but they offer a beautiful colour, are tinted so you can see where you apply them, are quite easy to control and the fact they dry quickly means you can get on with your day. My favourites are: Bondi Sands Self Tanning Foam and Madame La La Self Tanning Mousse.

There are also liquid tans which are similar to mousses but are often a little harder to control (on the actual mitt) but offer a really dark colour if that’s what you’re looking for. My favourites are He Shi Liquid Tan and Lauren’s Way Glam Tan

Personally I find mousses a little drying on my skin so I typically love lotions, I find that they’re more hydrating, fade more evenly and some can offer as dark a colour as the mousse. It does take a little longer to dry so often requires me to wait around for it to dry but that’s not a big problem to me. My favourites are Bondi Sands Lotion, Lauren’s Way Self Tanning Lotion.

If I’ve only remembered I want to tan on the day of a big event (or I just need a tan quickly) then 1 hour quick tans are perfect. They require at least an hour to develop and before you can wash off the guide colour but the longer your leave them on the darker they get. I occasionally leave it on for 3 hours but they do get very dark. The downside to these is that they are very drying so I try to only use them when I have no other option and just make sure I moisturise lots after. My favourites are James Read Express Bronzing Mousse and He-shi Rapid one hour tan

If I don’t even have time for one hour tan then instant, wash-off tan is the best (doesn’t require you to wash off a guide colour, you just wash it off when you want to remove it) and I often use it over fake tan as it offers a little bit of coverage to give limbs a airbrushed look. My favourites are Cocoa Brown Lovely legs and Bondi Sands Wash Off.

When I do use a face one I usually go for Madame La La Face Bronzing Serum, Vita Liberata Self Tanning Night Moisture Mask and Clarins Liquid Bronze Self Tanning

I feel that this was such a long post that it may make it seem even more scary but honestly it really isn’t, if you make a mistake you can almost always cover it and it will wash off and fade within a couple of days. I really love fake tan and think it has a very positive effect on my mood and confidence, it makes me look slimmer and healthier which is a good thing in my books.

PS. I’m currently using the Bondi Sands Lotion in Light (usually use dark) and I think it’s actually amazing!

I’m a few days behind but I thought I would share with you what I have been loving last month. I hope you all had a lovely February; I turned 22 (and almost had a melt down) and spent a lovely few days in Paris which was really nice. In amongst that I tried out a few new products and rediscovered some old favourites…

Fake Tan has been a big thing for me this month and I’ve been on a quest to be perfectly brown. To achieve this I have been loving the Lauren’s Way Glam Tan which is almost certainly my favourite fake tan. Easy to apply, streak free and the most amazing brown colour without a single hint of orange! However I no longer use this on my face as I find the St Tropez Facial Bronzing lotion to be far more flattering and less harsh. In between applications I have rediscovered the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub which is the best body scrub going; it leaves no residue but gives great exfoliation!

Whilst in Paris I purchased the Make-up For Ever HD Foundation and fell in love… again. I can’t believe I didn’t own (I’ve had two or three bottles in the past) and it is just the perfect amount of coverage and a beautifully natural finish. I rediscovered the Benefit They’re Real Mascara which is intensely black and really adds volume. I also found this stunning Revlon Matte Balm in Striking photographs really well and also is a great go-to colour if you’re running late but need to look put together. To finish it all off I have been reaching for the Caudalie Beauty Elixir just as a finishing spray and to stop my makeup looking too heavy. I thought I wouldn’t love this but I have got through it super quick- shame it’s not a little cheaper!

And a sneaky entry is the L’Oreal Color Riche Nail Polish in Nouvelle Vague– it’s just too perfect/pretty not to include!

I know you may not all be huge TOWIE fans (I’m not either) but the lovely Lauren Goodger is now know for more than just the show. For the last few years she has been creating and promoting her beauty range of fake eyelashes, hair extensions and fake tans.

Last week I had the chance to meet her and find out a bit about her beauty favourites as well as an exciting new launch.

What’s are you personal favourite lashes from the range?
I love midnight diva, which is what I am wearing tonight.

How about foundation, do you have a favourite you always reach for?
I switch between my two favourites; Estee Launder Double Wear and MAC Studio Fix Fluid. I usually use either a MAC or Bobbi Brown primer underneath those.

Do you have any skincare tips?
I swear by Sudo Creme on breakouts!

Which fake tan is your favourite from the range?
I love the new Glam Tan Darker than Dark because of the colour

Can you tell me about your hair extensions?
I have Micro Ring Extensions from Tatiana Hair Extensions but for work I use my clip in’s to add extra body.

Do you have any tips on making extensions look natural?
Use a little Batiste Dry Shampoo and back comb the root.

Favourite lip products?
MAC Spice Lipliner under Rimmel Lipstick in Asia.

On the day Lauren was launching the new Darker than Dark Glam Tan which as you can guess is an extra dark tan. I love the Glam Tan so am excited to be trying the darker version. I gave it a quick go yesterday and am not sure it’s quite as dark as I’d hoped but I will keep you updated! However overall I really think the Lauren’s Way products are far better than I even expected! The Sleep-in Rollers, lashes and fake tan are all stables in my wardrobe and I would chose the Glam Tan over pretty much every other tan (except He-shi Liquid tan which is just as good!)

Have you tried anything from the Lauren’s Way Range? Are you a TOWIE fan?

I do feel like this is a big statement to make but… I may have found my favourite fake tan. Ever. I say that as I have never finished a fake tan, especially with such commitment. TOWIE tan’s are known to be dark and possibly a little orange but I am pleased to report that you get the dark without the orange if you use Lauren’s Way Self Tanning  Bronzing Lotion.

I was a little scared at first  as I assumed it would be a little orange, when applying it the consistency is much runnier that any other tan I have used. I use a mitt, apply it to the area in long sweeps before buffing it in using circular motions. It’s quick, easy and goes on with no streaks however be sure to use only a little on your hands. The colour is very dark when you apply it, I mean shockingly dark (see Katie Price, she does have a crazy amount on)! Therefore make sure you apply the tan just before going to bed and wash it off in the morning. It dries quickly so you will be able to put pj’s on soon after but be careful as you may a little colour left on bed sheets (a hot wash will sort it out).

The picture above is me with just one layer and having washed it off in the morning, sorry it’s a rubbish photo but you get to see the colour quite well. I don’t have a before picture as I try to stay fake tanned as much as possible but I am very pale, naturally about a Mac NW/NC20 possibly slightly paler in the winter.

It has no alcohol or parabens which is always a plus, has a slight fake tan smell in the morning but just be sure to wash it off before leaving the house. It lasts about 5/7 day’s on me but some times I do apply it a few days in a row if I want to be very dark. I’ve used the Medium as well as the Darker Than Dark colours and I wouldn’t say there is that much between them, this tan isn’t for you if you want just a light glow.

As always keep it well moisturised and exfoliate prior to application.

At under £16 I think it is quite a reasonable prize which should last about 3 months, even with regular application.

Would you like a post with all my fake tanning tips? What is your favourite fake tan?

Yesterday I posted a picture on my Instagram and Twitter of my makeup for NYE, I didn’t do much so didn’t want to go for a smoky eye. I had seen this glittery gold eye earlier in the week and had fallen in love so wanted to recreate something quite similar.

I had a search through all of my eyeshadows to find some gold’s but there wasn’t one that was really impressive enough so I decided to pack on a few together. I started with Urban Decay Half Baked and then added a couple of Sleek Shades, once I was happier with the colour I added a very light contour using a Urban Decay Matte medium toned brown.

But there wasn’t enough sparkle!

I had a look through my makeup stash and found this unloved Collection 2000 Glam Crystal eyeliner, I’m not really a fan of glitter eyeliner any more so I had almost forgotten about this! I dabbed a lot onto the back of my hand and using my rind finger I pressed it onto my eyelid. This worked really well as it made it extra sparkly and the stickiness of the liner meant that the glitter didn’t fall as easily as it would of with a pigment or highglitter eyeshadow. It also means that my glitter eyeliner finally got some love and I found a new way to use it.

To finish my eyes I also used some Lauren’s Way Lashes which I thought were far too crazy at first. I was quite impressed by them; they were easy to apply, weren’t too heavy and I really liked the shape. I have a few more of her lashes at home which I am now excited to use! They aren’t overly natural or some that you could wear during the day but they are great for a night out. For the Liquid Eyeliner I used the Rimmel Exaggerate liquid eyeliner, due to the graininess of the glitter you will need to press the liner on more than usual.

In the first picture I am wearing a YSL lipstick however I then remembered I had this Pixi Lip&Line which I hadn’t tried(Image Below). I must admit I wasn’t expecting fall in love but I did. Very quickly and quite deeply really. I’m looking forward to writing a post about this lipstick so I won’t go into too much detail but it is in the colour Fresh Pink.

On my skin I was wearing Photo Ready by Revlon, my usual Sleek Contour Kit, Collection 2000 Lasting Perfection Concealer and some Mac Powder. Eyebrows: HD Brow kit

What did your NYE makeup look like?
I shouldn’t have to do this, especially as it is my own blog! I know many of you do not like my pout, which is fine. However I have acknowledged this but I don’t like my smile so there’s not much I can do about that. If it bothers you that much than please just don’t read my Face Of the Day posts. I know many of you are not saying this to be mean but it’s just how I am choosing to take my pictures.
