Since we’ve got just a few more weeks worth of summer I thought I would share my favourite nail polishes, I’ll be taking them through to brighten up my autumn days but will be alternating with some more vampy autumnal shades. The stand out winner has to be Models Own Beach Bag, nothing else compares and I’m already in need of a new one.

Other than the essential pre-holiday beauty treatments my favourite has to be false eyelashes, it’s the only time I ever get them throughout the year but I really find it to be a must for a summer get away. This year I went to Perfect Lashes in Kensington for my holiday lashes and was really impressed.

It was my third time getting lashes so I knew exactly what I wanted; just a little extra length, more of a curl and an extra bit of thickness and that’s exactly what I got. The girl doing my lashes took the time to find out exactly what I wanted and was able to give me just that. The treatment although is a little long as always was comfortable and when I opened my eyes I was very impressed with the results but I believe that the real test is in how they wear.

They were perfect for three weeks (photo above towards the start of week 3) and even when I did decide to wear mascara they still looked great. Even now almost 6 weeks later I have a few still in but they don’t look tatty and often get asked if they’re real as I still get a lot of volume from them.

I’m very impressed by Perfect Eyelashes and I have already recommended it to my friends, I was able to get exactly what I wanted and they’ve lasted really well. It made my holiday beauty routine much easier and I loved being able to go in the water at the pool and beach without worrying about waterproof mascara but still have very defined eyes.

1. Visit some of the street markets
Theres something about street markets I can’t resist, they’re filled with locals and usually local produce too. Obviously be careful to not get targeted with high prices as your a tourist and remember that in most places you can haggle.

2. Get lost
Okay please don’t actually get lost. But stop following the map and your GPs so carefully and instead take the off road and just trust your instincts every now and then. I have found the most beautiful views by doing this, admittedly I have also ended up on some scary roads but that’ part of the fun!

3. Try something new
This means something different to everyone but what I mean is be a little more open. Try the food, even if it’s a little unusual , get on a scary ride and if the opportunity comes up why not go skydiving?! I mean I wouldn’t but if you’re brave enough a holiday is the perfect time to do it.

4. Ask the locals
Its obvious that the locals now the area really well, they now what’s good and what isn’t plus they don’t usually do the touristy things. I always think it’s a good idea to ask your cab driver or waiter for a few little tips, places to visit, things to see, restaurants to eat at and even for the best place to enjoy the night life.

5. Have a lie in…
It’s tempting to spend your holiday exploring everything there is to explore in this new part of the world but this usually means getting up early. Have a lie in every now and then but don’t feel guilty, we all get up very early for work and school when we’re back home so a holiday is the perfect excuse to sleep past 10am, maybe even past 11am!

Last week I spoke about my 2 week before holiday prep so today we’re tackling the day before. This may all seem a little much to some but I like to do as much as possible before my holiday to not only keep my skin and hair looking good but also to save me from having to spend time doing my nails/shaving my legs whilst out there.

For me the most important thing before going away has to be hair removal, I like to do it the day before so I am sure it will last the whole holiday. Next week I’m going to be trying out Ministry of Waxing as apparently they use special wax that reduces the pain which I am hoping will get me through my bikini wax. If waxing isn’t your thing (which it should be!) just make sure everything is nice and de-fuzzes before hitting the plane as it will just mean you can jump straight in the pool as soon as you get there. Also don’t forget to do your eyebrows for all those makeup-free beach selfies.

If you have the time masks are a great indulgence and can be done whilst you do your last minute packing. Go for something very hydrating as summer holidays tend to suck all the moisture out of you as does time spend in airplanes. I wrote a whole post about my favourite face masks (link here) but also don’t forget to use a nice rich hair mask.

Mani’s and Pedi’s are essentials in my eyes but you can easily do them at home if you have time. I have a whole post here on how to get your feet summer ready and your hands are just as easy. Don’t forget to apply a good top coat to keep them look shiny all holiday, I personally love the Models Own Hyper Shine at the moment. If you are looking for great colours try either Morgan Taylor or Essie and I’m sure they’ll have you covered.

Exfoliate your whole body and then follow with a moisturiser. Be careful moisturising and exfoliating over recently waxed skin but be sure to moisturise everywhere else, it will get your skin looking plumper, healthier and ready to be sun kissed. If you’re applying just before bed I’d recommend the Neal’s Yard Beauty Sleep Body Butter to insure you also wake up feeling very rested.

My ultimate holiday luxury has to be individual fake lashes, not essential at all but make the world of difference if you can afford them. I had mine last year and I absolutely loved them and didn’t have to worry about mascara for a whole 3 weeks which was amazing. The real reason I love them though has to be for the beach/swimming pool, it really helps define your eyes with no risk of mascara not being as waterproof as you had hoped. I’m getting mine done at Perfect Lashes and will share the results soon.

I love shorts, skirts and dress even though my legs are far from perfect. To help get them looking better I insist on fake tan (or natural too) as it gives me a little added confidence. I have a range of products which I always rely on for some leg help…

St Tropez Instant Tan Waterproof £10
I’ve been using this for years now, even before it was a waterproof product and find it to be my favourite instant tan. The colour isn’t very dark but it adds a little colour, dries quickly and I don’t have to worry about rain or spilt drinks. Even my mother, who is scared of fake tan loves this!

MAC Face & Body, £21.50
If you are looking for some coverage as well as a little colour I really like the MAC Face & Body. I find this foundation to be a little too sheer for my face most days but I love wearing it on my body, it isn’t going to cover bruises or tattoos but it will really help even out your skin tone and I’ve even used it to cover fake tan mistakes. As it is quite sheer you can go a shade or two darker and once it sets you don’t need to worry about it transferring.

He-Shi Rapid 1 Hour Tan £22.50

Unlike most fake tans this one develops and is ready to wash off in as little as an hour although I think three hours is the perfect time. You also won’t have to worry about it fading throughout the day or getting spilt on as the guide colour would have been washed off and it will remain perfect all day. If I have a spare few hours this is my favourite out of all the options.
Clinique Self Sun Body Tint £19
If you want a light-medium looking tan I’ve been loving the Clinique Self Sun Body Tint which adds the perfect glow without being too dark and lasts a good few days. It also doesn’t have a very strong scent for those of you that hate the biscuity fake tan smell.

Bioderma Photoderm Autobronzant £15
If you are looking for a slightly darker tan I would recommend this one which is super easy to apply and has a very natural but darker colour. I also find that this hides imperfections quite well due to it’s consistency, although it comes in a spray I personally still love a mitt.

Lush Charisma £12 and Black Stocking £7.95
If you are looking for something a little more natural I have been reaching for these two Lush offerings recently. Charisma is a skin tint which is designed to be used on the face but I have found it also works really well down the lets if you already have a bit of a tan and simply want to add a little more warmth. It is quite a small tub so you wouldn’t want to do your entire body but you don’t require too much to cover just your legs.
