Happy Monday! I hope you all had a great weekend, even if it was pretty damn cold!
I’ve had the obligatory January cold/flu so I’ve been reaching for all the layers I can find and to stay extra warm I think all the cosy accessories are a must- hats, gloves and scarves! Plus, I’ve heard it’s getting even colder this week, to as low as -3 today so you may see me wearing two sets of gloves soon!
I don’t really have a specific style when it comes to accessories but I’ve recently been moving away from wearing black and I think that although black accessories have a place I really like wearing lighter coloured neutrals or pops of colours too. I really love a scarf, I picked that up from my mum and even in the summer I like a silk scarf but if it’s cold enough I definitely wear a hat and gloves!
I’m more of a bag girl than a shoe girl but even still I rarely buy bags. I don’t actively go out looking for a new bag, the new bag must find me and I must fall in love with it before I take it home which is why I’m surprised by just how many circle bags I have fallen for and bought recently.
Circle bags were on the run way at Chloe, Saint Laurent and more, they’re the must-have it-bag of the season, which makes it the perfect way to update any outfit. I also like that they’re typically a nice medium size, they fit all the essentials without letting you fit in the kitchen sink, forcing me to carry a lighter bag- which is always good, although I have spotted some beautiful larger beach ones! I love that circle bags are fun without being childish and they can add a playfulness to almost any outfit, whilst still remaining elegant.
Since it isn’t a very classic shape I think it’s best to keep it highstreet, especially since the highstreet have done such a good job with them! There are straw ones, party ones, leather ones, all the circle bags you could ever need and all for less than £60 down below…
Once upon a time I use to love an all black outfit but now days I do like wearing a little more colour, it’s fun and brightens up London’s grey days. This blog post is in collaboration with Debenhams who have put together a range of pieces to help bring us out of the winter blues, bring colour back into our wardrobes and make us feel more confident this year! I really love both looks; they’re both fab for work, a party or even the weekend if you change the heels for a nice loafer.
I love a good statement suit, I just think they’re so chic and super versatile! I think red is a good colour to get your first statement suit in as it suits most people and since it’s bright red it’s pretty hard to miss! I teamed mine with a black jumper, black heels and a black bag as I wanted to keep it still very wearable but I love the little heart on these Faith heels, they’re the absolute cutest! If you work in a office that you could wear a red suit than I really encourage you do, I feel so sassy in mine and its a great way to inject a little excitement into your workwear wardrobe which can often lie quite dull and repetitive! The best part about a coloured suit is you can wear it together a suit or wear the jacket and trousers separately. I’ve been sometimes teaming my blazer with jeans, converse and a slogan tee but I’m sure I’ll be wearing my trousers separately too, especially for any smart-casual events I have coming up.
For my second look I spotted this black and white animal print shirt which I fell in love with! I feel like animal print almost counts as a neutral colour as it goes with everything, especially this one since it’s black & white. I love mixing patterns with colour so I teamed it with these Principles Royal blue tapered trousers and a pair of nude heels which I think are going to quickly become my most worn heels. You could so easily swap these trousers for the red ones, for an equally great and colourful look or even swap them for a pair of ribbed jeans.
Both the suit and the royal blue blue trousers work perfectly no matter what the season is. You could throw a coat over the top of both for cold winter days or swap the long sleeves for a more summery top when the weather warms up.
How do you like to inject colour into your wardrobe?
When the new season rolls around it’s always tricky to know which trends will add the most value to your wardrobe so I’ve teamed up with Debenhams to share our favourite womenswear trends for the new season.
Red is the colour of the season; it’s everywhere and such an easy way to update your wardrobe!
I personally love a vibrant red but if that’s too bright for you then opt for a deeper crimson colour. I haven’t bought it yet but I definitely have my eye on this beautiful Hobbs red coat, which although is a little pricier is a beautiful investment coat which will effortlessly add a sophisticate pop of red to any outfit! Another fabulous trend if embroidery, you can go for something a little more subtle or for heavily embellished dresses. For an everyday look go for a embroidered jumper but I personally love an embroidered dress which will take you straight through to party season. Shop the Embroidery edit HERE
You may think that florals are just for spring and summer but they’re just as popular for this autumn and winter. I love a dark-base floral with a bold print, especially on a wrap dress which you could even wear in the warmer months or an embroidery floral print dress which would tick off two trends. Alternatively, another great option is to incorporate florals into your lingerie. Debenhams have some beautiful lace sets with bright statement prints adding a little bit of luxury to every outfit. Shop the Autumn Blooms edit HERE
My top pick, which will add a bit of floral and a bit of embroidery to your wardrobe, is this beautiful Nine By Savannah Miller dress– you could even team it with a red long coat! I love the navy colour of this dress, the beautiful detailed embroidery and I’m sure I’ll get lots of wear out of it all the way through to party season. It’s also looks like a designer dress but only costs £65!
What trends have you added to your wardrobe this season?
I still haven’t decided if I’m super excited or incredibly sad.
Sure I love cosy evenings, lighting candles and drinking tea, but do I love it more than the summer sunshine and tanned skin? Probably not.
One thing I have been enjoying so far is the wardrobe switch over and adding new staples to my wardrobe. Here’s my current Wishlist
The Perfect Boot I don’t know where to find it, if I’m honest I’m not even too sure I know what I’m looking for but I know I want them to be black with small heel and of course, comfortable. I want to be able to wear them with jeans and dress and probably be leather rather than suede, since it’ll probably rain all autumn and winter in London
A teddy coat They jut look so comfortable, cosy and relaxed! I also love that they’re typically a lighter colour which I don’t really have in coats and I think it would be a great addition to my wardrobe.
Fur Coat I’ve always wanted a great (Faux- of course) fur coat and although I have a nice leopard print one I want one I can really dress both up and down. I keep spotting one pop up on the high street but they sell out really quickly so I think I really need to commit and buy the next nice one I can get my hands on.
Red Blazer Red is the colour of the season and blazers are the must-have items of the season so naturally I need a red blazer.
Slogan T-shirt I’m quite late to the slogan tee trend but now that I have a few blazers I really want to make them look a little more casual and think a slogan tee is just the perfect way. There are some great affordable ones on the high-street but they sell out so quickly that I’m usually just a little too late.
Perfect layering necklaces I love accessories, especially jewellery and even more so gold jewellery. I’m keeping my outfits quite minimalist at the moment, nothing too bright or fussy but really love that look teamed with a few gold necklaces. I’ve got my eye on a few Missoma pieces but they’re so popular at the moment that I fear I’ll be bored of it in a few weeks.
Mid Wash Jeans I’m so bored of black jeans and the jeans I wore throughout summer are a tiny bit too light so I’m after a great pair of highwaisted mid-wash jeans. ASOS Farleighs are the one I am after but apparently so is everyone else as they’re always sold out!
Turtle Neck I think it’s finally the year I do turtle necks. I’m no overly comfortable in them but there so chic that I really think it’s time I get comfortable in them, Primark have some great ones in but I’m looking for one I can keep for the next ten years as they’re so timeless so I’m happy to invest a little more in one.
