The whole town is very relaxing, we had a tour around the town, the Bad Wörishofen Rose garden and had the pleasure of meeting Jochen Reisberger, the spa Manager who has been interested in water and health since being a child and is clearly very passionate about the Kneipp philosophy. It was great to tour the hotel, see the treatment rooms and the spa- I even spotted a lying down shower that sounds incredible!
Dinner the first day was at a really impressive Bavarian Restaurant called Löwenbräu, I actually can’t remember what I had but we tried a Barwurz Vogelbeer Enzian which is warm beer and got to experience a very local German restaurant which was a real treat.
Day two was another early start but a rather pleasant one as we had an early morning treatment. The therapists had access to our rooms and at around 6am came in for the Hay Sack treatment whilst we were all asleep. She placed a linen bag of hay which had been heated with hot water steam on my upper back and wrapped me like a cocoon, which was really comforting and I was surprised about how relaxed my shoulders were after!
The second treatment before breakfast was downstairs, we bathed our legs in hot and cold water to both wake us up and get our circulation going, it’s actually a really good treatment that you can try at home to help strengthen your immune system. In Germany people are actually advised by their doctors to visit the Kneipp Health Spa which really proves how amazing the Kneipp theory and spas are! Its seen as a more natural and holistic way to deal with certain medical issues with great results.
We then visited Sebastian Kneipp’s burial spot and the museum for a little more history on the brand before heading back to the hotel to cook our own lunch.I haven’t had the chance to try the recipes at home but once I do I’ll share them on here or Snapchat as the food was delicious, easy to make and healthy. There was no meat or processed food but the meal was truly delicious!
For the second portion of the trip we moved onto Würzburg, a city in the Bavaria region that I really fell in love with. We had drinks on a really quaint bridge before a spot of dinner and starting our Night Watchman Tour. If you ever find yourself in Würzburg then I can’t recommend the tour enough!
The third day we went off on our factory tour, it was by far the most interesting factory tour I’ve ever been on! Everyone that works at the factory seems to be very passionate and knowledgeable about the products which I think is quite rare nowadays. Most of the people we met on the trip had been brought up with Kneipp in their home and lived a very Kneipp inspired life. We got to see all the raw materials, see how the quality was so highly controlled and see everything get packaged up.
Since I’ve been back I have been using lots of their products and I can’t believe how affordable and high quality they are. The bath salts are my personal favourites although the whole body range is amazing, the scents are very natural smelling which is a big thing for me but more importantly really work. I haven’t had a chance to try the skincare yet but I’ve heard such good things and I am really excited to do so.
Thanks Kneipp for having me!
