I’ve been after a perfect pair of boots for a while. I wanted a black leather pair which were high, pointy and able to take any outfit and really dress it up.

I’d seen a few high-end ones but I didn’t want to spend too much and thought the sale was the perfect time to buy a pair. I spotted these on the Dune website for £140 down from £175 which I found was pretty reasonable for a pair of all leather boots. As I ordered them online I was unsure I would love them just as much in real life but I’m happy to say I do!

They’re high but not too high, comfortable (considering) and the quality is fab- I think I’ll be wearing them all winter! I have been trying to invest in slightly more expensive but high quality items which will last me and I think this style is so timeless a versatile. I can team them with jeans and a t-shirt or dress it up with a dress and black tights.

As always I teamed them with a monochrome outfit, a staple black coat, black Topshop Leigh jeans and an old shirt. Surprisingly it was sunny in London so I even needed a pair of sunglasses!

This month I have really started to try new products more than ever and have found some really great products from inexpensive products to slightly higher end products.

The two foundations I have been loving are Armani Luminous Silk and L’oreal True Match. There is obviously a huge price difference but they are quite similar although the L’oreal may be slightly more matte. I adore the Luminous Silk as it gives the perfect finish (although I suspect it may be breaking me out) but for a fraction of the price L’Oreal is a great alternative. I especially like using the True Match foundation as I like to apply foundation with the Real Technique sponge which does naturally soak up a little bit of product so a less expensive product is better in my opinion.

As a concealer/highlighter I’ve been loving the Maybelline Eraser Eye Concealer as it doesn’t look cakey at all and is perfect for bringing light to the face. To set it all I’ve been using the new Benefit Porefessional Agent Anti-shine before contouring with the B Cosmetics Contour Kit which is surprisingly good. I have also rediscovered Angel Lipstick by Mac which is the perfect pale pink!

Other favourites are the Vaseline Spray & Go and the Soap & Glory Smoothie Body Butter which has helped me keep my resolution to always moisturise. I was also pleasantly surprised by how much I love Bumble and bumble Pret-a-powder, not only does it smell amazing but it’s great at plumping up the hair without being sticky. The Orly Won’t Chip top coat has also been a great addition, the ultimate top coat for super glossy and polished nails.

There weren’t any huge new additions to my haircare but I kept using some old favourites. I can’t see myself using a different dry shampoo, I am completely addicted to Batiste Dry Shampoo and nothing else compares. For my ends I have been loving Moroccan Oil Treatment, an old classic but still the one I reach for. I’ve also been using Philip Kingsley Daily Damage Defence daily for the majority of the year, it helps keep my hair in great shape and makes it nice an easy to brush.

However skincare wise I found a few great products; I fell in love with Emma Hardy Amazing Face Cleanser and the face cloths to remove my makeup and keep my skin reasonably clear. As I have had pretty dehydrated skin all year long I’ve been using Clarins Blue Orchid Face Oil before going to bed which has really helped. I also have been using the Clarins Gentle Exfoliator Toner which is great when my skin is look particularly dull. I also couldn’t be without Elizabeth Arden 8 Hour Cream and Nuxe Reve de Miel, both essential for dry chapped skin.

For tools my favourites have been my Real Technique Brushes and sponge, I can’t wait to try some more this year! I have been loving the Juicy Couture perfumes this year and my go-to tan has been the He-shi Express Liquid Tan.

Although I’ve done a whole nail polish about my favourite nail polish colours my other favourite nail products are the Bourjois 1 Second Magic Nail polish remover which must be one of my must used beauty products of the whole year. Butter London Melt Away has also been a life saviour for my nails and I’ve been using it regularly for months.

Happy New Year!
I hope you all had a great night yesterday and that you have kicked off 2014 the right way. Today I thought I would shade my 12 favourite makeup products of 2013, in no particular order.

Bourjois Healthy Mix Foundation Here
It was a touch on choosing a favourite foundation but this has to be the winner. I have repurchased endless bottles, it has accompanied me on all my holidays this year and best of all it’s affordable!

Urban Decay Naked Palette Here
I got a little more into eyeshadows last year but I found the Urban Decay palette to be my safe and easy option. You can create a range of great looks with minimum effort- what more could you ask for?

Sleek Contour Kit Here
This is a long term love and this items hasn’t left my hand bag for years!

Chanel Bronzer Here
After lusting over this for years I finally bought it and I am not sure why I waited so long, cream bronzers are much more flattering and I can’t wait to dive into a few more.

Wild About Beauty Multi Purpose Tint in Lynne Here
This adds the most perfect glossy cheek unlike any other product I have, no need for highlight. It’s really easy to apply with just your fingers meaning it pretty much hasn’t left my handbag, it’s also not too pigmented meaning it’s very subtle and I love teaming it with dramatic eyes/lips.

YSL Mascara Here
I’m usually a drugstore mascara kind of girl however the YSL mascara took over the last half of the year; it’s super black, adds great volume and just enough length.

Clarins Lip Perfector Here
This was another do I really need it? product but I just couldn’t put them down after I finally got them, they are just super easy to use and unlike other glosses I find them really comfortable. The shades are also great too, there isn’t a single one I would use.

Mac Patesserie Lipstick

An old favourite- the perfect slightly glossy nudey pink.

Loreal Superliner Here
Even though I love liquid eyeliner I still struggle to get two perfect lines however I find this is the easiest one to use and is really black which is what I look for in a liner.

Illamasqua Pigment Here
This had been in my collection for a while, I’m not even too sure where it had come from. I’m not sure if I bought it for really cheap at last years IMATS or if it had come from a goody bag, all I know is that it is the perfect extreme highlighter for the inner corner and even under the brow bone.

Benefit Porefessional Here
I reach for this primer every time I want my foundation to look flawless as it helps blur pores I find foundation apply much better on top of this one.

Rimmel Wake Me Up Concealer Here
This isn’t the heaviest coverage concealer but I find it to have just enough without being cakey or overly matte, the price is also a plus!

Mac Woodwinked Here
My go-to super easy all over the lid eyeshadow, looks like you’ve made an effort with just this and a load of mascara.

What were your favourite makeup products of 2013? I’d love to hear about them in the comments!

I love reading other peoples monthly favourites so I am going to make an effort to start doing them myself next year and hopefully as a regular video. Since I am not particularly organised I only have a blog post this month.

Christmas Yankee Candles
Turns out I bought a few too many and haven’t even managed to burn a full one even though I have been trying. Yankee Candles are quite reasonably priced but I found them to burn pretty clean, to be long lasting and give of just enough scent.

Urban Decay Naked 3- here*
Surprise, Surprise I have been addicted to this palette since I go it, I just love the colours especially for winter as it created a really easy romantic smokey eye.

Elegant Touch Rapid Dry for Nails – here
I’ve always known about quick dry sprays but never felt I really needed on until this one appeared in a Glossy Box and I have used it loads since. As you may know I posted a different nail look every day on my blog throughout advent which turned out to be terribly time consuming but this really did help. I was worried it would cause my nail polish to chip more but I didn’t find that at all.

YSL Shocking Mascara- here
I don’t have a whole lot to say about this, YSL mascara’s are my favourite! They not only look beautiful but give me perfectly volumised, long lashes.

YSL Terre Saharienne Bronzer – here
This hasn’t left my hand bag as not only does it have a very handy mirror but it’s the perfect on-the-go bronzer. It is buildable, really easy to apply and blend so you don’t have to worry about any orange stripes. I also love that it is matte (but not too flat) as I think sheeny/shimmery bronzers just don’t work as well in the winter.

Bleach London Reincarnation Hair Mask – here
I’m not usually much of a hair mask person but now that I have hair extensions I really feel it is important. Although this is actually aimed at dyed or bleached hair its also worked really well on my hair (actually I’m not sure if my extension were once dyed) and also smells amazing. I use it once a week, apply it to dry hair and keep it in for about 30 minutes, once I was my hair it looks super soft and shiny (plus it’s only £6!)

Bumble and bumble Thickening hair mousse – here
I’ve been eyeing this up for a while so am happy to report that it’s as good as I had hoped. When using this you need to remember that a little goes a long way as it is very easy to overload the hair which will leave it crispy and hard to blow dry but other than that it leaves my hair with lots of volume and adds a little texture which my fine hair always needs.

Armani Luminous Silk – here
I finally bit the bullet and bought this at the beginning of the month, for the first few days I simply thought it was okay as I think I just hadn’t found the right way to apply it. However since I tried it with my Real Techniques buffing brush I haven’t stopped using it and I actually don’t think I have used anything else!
