Bitter Sweets

I’m still away in Madeira but my holiday is coming to an end and it is bitter sweet. I always get very home sick 3 days in, we actually haven’t had the greatest weather so I still don’t have a proper tan, that said I’m quite enjoy doing nothing all day.

Yesterday we headed into Funchal as it’s our last few days here to get some souvenirs, make a few Zara purchases as it’s a little cheaper here and have some lunch. Sadly I didn’t find the dress I wanted in Zara so I will have to look for it in London as it was the perfect LBD.

As it was pretty cold, but I came unprepared with only a single pair of jeans I went for these black and white aztec shorts from Primark which I fell in love with a while ago. They’re a perfect little versatile paired with heels for a dressy look or flats and a jumper.

My jacket and bag are simply my usual uniform; bag is from Zara and jacket is Oasis (I think). My t-shirt was cheap Zara purchase a few days back which cost me under 10 euros and although it’s nothing fancy it is still nicer than the usual white vest I wear.

My sandals were kindly sent to me by Clarks as part of their #FreeYourFeet campaign and are the Studio Beat sandals in metallic leather. At first I thought they were a little mum-sy and they are a little but they are incredibly comfortable, versatile and perfect for pretty much any occasion. At £45 they are a little pricey (well they not super cheap at least) but the quality is great and I have a feeling they’ll last me a few summers.

What have you been wearing recently? I’ve heard the weather in London isn’t too bad!

From the 4th to the 9th I was also in Madeira. I checked H&M there. I was surprised by the opening times, the shops close so early! In Spain shops close at 8'30pm or 9pm, so I was really shocked when I found them closed in Funchal T_T. Another surprising thing: they were opened on Sunday! I cannot say if there is a price difference in H&M/Zara between Spain vs. Portugal (I think abroad they are more expensive), but everything looked quite "cheap" as in Spain^^.

BTW, I was wearing shorts like you in this picture and got a lot of men staring at me (also saying things while driving, etc), as if I was a whore or something, so unpolite!

If you go to Forum Madeira or Madeira shopping they are open from 10am-12am even on Sundays which is much longer than in the UK. I think zara is even cheaper in Spain but more expensive abroad. I had no problem with men staring, I think it was just as much as they would do else where.

Hope you still managed to have a good time X

Apart from the weather not being the best, I hope you are enjoying our Portuguese island! The weather here in the mainland was really good and sunny today though so maybe it will get better in Madeira too! xxx
