Hi A Little Obsessed readers, Rachel from Blush and Brunch here! While the lovely Sabrina is basking in the sun in Portugal, I thought I’d share some of my favorite beauty items of this summer. Whether you’re going on a getaway, or simply soaking in the warm(er) weather at home, these products will definitely get you amped up for the heat and sun.
My go-to summer fragrance is Jo Malone’s Orange Blossom Cologne. I picked this up a year ago while I was in London with the boyfriend. It was our first time in Europe ever, so you can imagine how excited (and touristy) we were! I’ve associated this scent with the fond memories of the trip ever since. I love the simplicity of orange blossom in this fragrance – it’s a sweet, feminine, and cheerful floral scent.
I’m all about sun protection when it comes to summer… as much as I adore sun kissed skin on all the girls here in California, my skin doesn’t tan – it only burns! Therefore I swear by Neutrogena’s Ultra Sheer Body Mist Sunblock in SPF 100+ (yes, 100!) for any type of day long excursion. The spray nozzle makes it so easy to apply, and the waterproof formula is perfect for summer swims. As for face, my recent favorite has been the Shiseido Urban Environment Oil-Free UV Protection with SPF 42. I have combination-oily skin that reacts to almost anything that’s slightly heavier, but this sunscreen has been working perfectly so far. Lightweight, matte, non-greasy and invisible. Perfect under makeup!
Lazy summer days call for lazy, minimal makeup. I love the Kora Organics Tinted Day Cream, it’s packed full of good-for-you ingredients (green tea, chamomile, rose and noni extract to name a few). I find it gives my skin a healthier complexion without actually being visible. I then like to slab on my Josie Maran Coconut Watercolor Cheek Gelee in “Poppy Paradise.” It’s gel-like consistency glides onto the cheeks and gives the most natural looking flush. Sheer but buildable, it stays on really well even on the hottest summer days.
Last but not least, my Almay Liquid Lip Balm in “Cantaloupe” has been living in my purse every day this month. It’s a true peach shade that shows up as a baby pink on the lips. I love the moisturizing formula of this – I can easily double this up as my lip balm and not have to bring around multiple lip products in my purse! Although let’s be honest here, I probably never have less than 3 lip products swimming in my purse. That’s a whole other story…
