The Damned: Topshop Makeup

Although I often ohh and ahh over the Topshop makeup, I had only previously try their cream blushers (which I love) and their lipsticks (there are some great colours) so I was very excited to give a few products from the new collection a go. The new collection The Damned, is made up of gothic, dark, matte shades for autumn 2013.

Eye Gleam in Noir . I completely forgot to photograph this *slaps hand* but I’ve given this product a few goes as it is a multi-purpose eye product. Initially I though this was a gel eyeliner but it is more of a mousse texture meaning it isn’t quite opaque enough. It is however beautiful all over the lid as a base for other eyeshadows (although I’d still use a primer) it add a little more depth and darkens any eyeshadow which goes over it. I think I’ll get lots of wear from it now that it is coming up to Christmas!

Skin Perfecting Pressed Powder £14. When I first opened the packaging I had no idea what was going on as I thought the perfectly white powder was a piece of plastic and even managed to dig my nail into it removing this ‘piece of plastic.’ I then finally realised it was in fact a finely milled translucent pressed powder with a slight sheen. I was pretty sceptical when I initially tried it, it applies quite lightly which I love as I don’t like being too matte and it does almost blur imperfections together leaving skin looking more even. This has now made it into my handbag and I have been reaching for it regularly, my current favourite powder as the sheen really helps combat the winter greyness you can get on skin.

Matte Nails Candy Fox. I’d gone off matte nails and was so bored of it that I nearly passed this colour up however it’s quite an interesting shade. Matte polishes are usually seen in blacks and other dark colours so this pretty pink is quite a contrast. I love that it still has a slight sheen although Matte Nails do help show imperfections in my opinion and you have to make a special effort applying it.

Velvet Lips in Plush . A beautiful berry purple with a matte finish, it applies almost like a mousse and is very pigmented. As you can see I haven’t offered any form of lip swatch as I found it really clung to all the dry patches on my lips and showed all my imperfections. However I still think it is a beautiful colour if you have good enough lips to pull it off (I can’t wear any matte shade)

The collection is available now on theand in store. What has caught your eye?

Love the lip colour. Think it might be quite hard to pull off though! But love a 'matte' finish on nails and makeup.
