My Week Away Makeup Bag

I am the worst unpacker (and packer) and since my makeup bag was still sitting in my suitcase I thought I would share with you some bits I took to Paris with me. I used this experience as a bit of a test run for next months 4.5 week holiday which has already got me worried, how do I pack 4 weeks of my life into a 23KG suitcase?

Back to my Paris makeup bag, I wanted to keep it small but I still need options. I took one eyeshadow palette and one mascara, my Lorac Pro palette and . The mascara was a no brainer, I don’t use anything else so it would be silly to take more than one but I was a little unsure about the Lorac Pro Palette, in the end I think it was a good decision although I might take two next month. Its a great slimline, travel friendly palette with 16 shades, all wearable and ranging from matte to shimmery.
I took two foundations; and but ended up only using Chanel Vita Lumiere (and one day I borrowed a friends), I think it’s just a great foundation for the summer! For Concealer I took the which was one of the best things I took with me, I love how small it is and it has both a great concealer and a great powder which I used regularly! I also carry with me in my handbag so that went too.
I choose three blushers, a bronzer, a highlight and a contouring palette which now seems pretty excessive but I was packing in a rush. The Smashbox Contour palette was a great pick, once again it’s pretty streamline and has three great colours; a contour, a bronzer and highlight all of which I often use on my eye. The blush I used most was as I’m loving just a slight hint of blush at the moment but I also took my mini and which I didn’t end up using. I only used my in Golden Light once too and I could have easily have used the one from my Smashbox Contour Palette instead but it is a really beautiful subtle bronzer. The highlight which I actually used quite regularly was Pur Afterglow Illuminating Powder.
For brows I went with , great product which also has a spoolie and Benefit Speed Brow because it’s my favourite and really quick to apply. The three liners I went for were , and Makeup Forever Aqua Eyes which are all currently my favourites and essential!
I ended up rarely wearing lipstick as I always find it quite uncomfortable in hot weather but I took
I also took a handful of brushes, largely and Zoeva but they’re now in need of a wash so I haven’t photographed those.
I’m already mentally packing for next month, let me know if you’d like to see what I take away then too…

I love the Lorac Pro Palette, I also bring it as my go to palette for when I travel.

How do you like the Smashbox Contour palette? I actually didn't know they had this palette since I've been looking to invest in a contour palette myself.. The two I was looking into was the Anastasia Contour Kit and the Kat Von D Shade and Light contour palette…

I'm such a blush collector so I definitely would have overpacked on that, too! I'm so bad when it comes to make up packing I normally end up just shoving in all of my Mac lipsticks and then only really using one or two! I've heard amazing things about the Lorac palette and the Nars concealer!

I really struggle packing makeup for holidays. I always imagine I'll want options but actually end up going barefaced most days!

I'm going away in a few weeks and I think a must for me is the bare minerals powder foundation as it almost adapts to your skin tone should I tan a little bit! Also, my chanel lipgloss in bliss is a beautiful colour for the summer! I don't tend to bother with makeup that much when I'm away but I always end up packing a ridiculous amount anyway!

Great post and so helpful! I'm always wondering what I should and shouldn't take in regards to makeup when I go away for a trip. I also will be trying a few things like that Chanel Vitalumiere. I need something light for everyday but still liquid. All I have is powder.

You packed some great things, I am totally in love with the Lorac Pro palette, it is fantastic and has great shadows that are perfect as transition shades.

This reminds me I must wash my makeup brushes tonight. I also have the Lorac palette and love it! I managed to get my hands on the Mega Pro Lorac Palette which is one of my favourites.
