Yesterday morning, after getting back from Portugal the night before, I rushed off to Selfridges to check out the Build Your Own Birchbox Pop Up Shop which has been created to celebrate Birchbox’s 5th Birthday!

I had great fun building my own Birchbox and there are some great products and brands to choose from including Elemis, Benefit, Decleor, Nuxe, This Works and more. You get to choose five samples plus a beauty treat where I chose the This Works Sleep Plus Pillow Spray. From the makeup section I picked the Stila Convertible Colour, which I didn’t even give a second thought to and the Wild About Beauty Gloss– a few of the other products I have already had samples of in a previous box but there were some good options. For skincare I was tempted by the Embryolisse Lait-Creme but as I haven’t tried the Elemis Pro-Collagen Marine Cream I went for that instead. I rarely get excited by body care but I loved the sound of the Whish CC Body Cream and in haircare I choose the Philip Kingsley Elasticizer.

Each box costs £15 which although is a little more than the usual box I think s justified by the fact that you get to pick exactly what you would like inside the box. The pop up runs until the 28th September 2015 in the Selfridges Beauty Workshop but for anyone that can’t get to London they will be releasing a exclusive Limited Edition Selfridges Birchbox online on the 10th September with seven deluxe samples!

I haven’t featured a Birchbox in a little while but July’s one caught my eye instantly as it isn’t even a box! It came in a pink, clear bag, perfect for the beach or pool in the summer, inside theres a whole range of mini summer essentials too.

The Barely Prep, Blot & Blend Sponge caught my eye first as I love a makeup sponge, it’s a full size sponge and although I haven’t had a chance to try it it, it does look great. There is also a mini Benefit Cosmetics Dream Screen sunscreen which has SPF45 and is ultra lightweight with a matte-finish, it isn’t quite big enough to take away but it’s a good size to try the product out or even to keep in your handbag for a bit of a top up.

There is also a Balance Me Congested Skin Serum, Jelly Pong Pong Glow Getter Luminizer Gel and a UNANI Aloe Vera Gel which is great as an aftersun. I was also very impressed by the POP beauty eyeshadow Trio in Peach Parfait, it isn’t a full size palette but is the perfect travel size one if you’re only going for a few days!

I also picked a few bits of the Birchbox website which I’m taking away on holiday with me. I’ve heard so many people talking about the The Balm Mary-Lou Manizer and it’s as good as everyone says it is, perfect for adding a bit more of a glow to any look. I’ve also been using the The Balm Nude’tude palette which has such an adorable design, twelve wearable shades and is perfectly streamline to travel with.

Birchbox has also been kind enough to offer £5 off to my readers on their first box using the code SUMMERLO

Last week I was invited by Birchbox to join them at The Hoxton Hotel and watch the latest season of Girls which came out on that day. I had heard so many great things about The Hoxton Hotel and since I’ve been watching Girls since season one.

I went to The Hoxton in trendy Shoreditch which is a great location for anyone looking to stay slightly east whilst in London. It’s got a really great buzz downstairs at the bar and restaurant, I even spotted a photobooth which sadly I didn’t get a chance to use.

I stayed on the sixth floor in a room with two beds, perfect for sharing with a friend and fell in love with the room which is trendy yet comfortable. After joining the Birchbox and HBO girls for a few drinks in the bar I headed upstairs and ordered some room service. Of course I order a burger and chips, no change there! The burger was in fact a double and far too large for me to finish although it was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Once I had finished my dinner I relaxes with some strawberries for dessert, a face mask and the Birchbox they had kindly provided. I painted my nails in Cheeky Beach Please and discovered this beautiful London Butterflies Body Cream which is not only very hydrating but smells incredible.

At midnight Girls Season 4 became available to download from iTunes, I stayed up late into the night watching the first few episodes but I won’t give anything away. It’s a great series to watch if you are looking for something new to get in to, people often compare it to a modern day Sex & The City although I would say Girls is much more honest and realistic- but they are both about four girls living in New York city with the main characters being writers.

After staying awake until far too late I had a great nights sleep and enjoyed a delicious breakfast downstairs in the restaurant although they do also provide an un-cooked breakfast to everyone in their room, which is a lovely touch but nothing beats eggs Benedict!

I had a really lovely stay at The Hoxton and would recommend it if you are staying in London (they also have on in Holborn). I’ve also heard that they are opening one in Amsterdam and Paris which I am hoping to check out when I next visit those cities.

Don’t forget that all four seasons of Girls is available to download from iTunes and is a great series to watch if you are thinking of doing some binge watching over the four day weekend.

To subscribe for your very own BirchBox check out their website here, the current March box looks amazing!

The lovely girls at Birchbox are offering my readers £5 off their first box when they subscribe to Birchbox with the code BBX5OBSESSED until 31st July 2014. I know a lot of you love subscription boxes so this is a great opportunity to try Birchbox out if you haven’t done so already.

Heres a peek inside my July box which had some great Weleda and Balance me although it was worth it just for the Laqa&Co Lip Crayon which is an amazing colour!

As so many of you seem to love finding out what’s in my monthly BirchBox today I bring to you Aprils Box which is ‘Good Enough to Eat’ which is inspired by food markets and eateries so everything has either an amazing scent or some sort of food element (so it says on the website)

The first thing I noticed was the ‘lifestyle extra’ which was the Propercorn in Sweet Coconut and Vanilla which I’m excited to try and is a nice extra. There are also some Yes To Cucumbers Facial Wipes, although I don’t use wipes daily or even weekly they can come in handy and I’ll be saving these for any plane trips or outings where wipes will come in handy. I haven’t tried them but they smell amazing and very refreshing, perfect for the warmer months. I’m not too sure how these relate to food but there is also a Color Club nail polish and Lord & Berry eye Pencil. I am not a huge fan of the Nail polish as the colour is very shimmery and not really my cup of tea. Although the liner is small I know its a great one as I’ve used it in the past. The box also features a The Balm Cosmetics Cheek & lip tint which is super cute but if I am honest I am not too sure I would use very often. I was most excited about the Laura Mercier Body Souffle which is quite an expensive product that I’ve wanted to try for a while.

As I was only disappointed with one product (the nail polish colour which wasn’t my shade) I would say this box was actually quite a successful one.

I am very excited to share that BirchBox will kindly be offering my readers the chance to gift their friends a FREE box with the code
when you purchase this months April box for yourself.
Offer ends 30th April and friend will not receive this months box but one next months after the offer has ended. It would even make a fabulous Easter present, even if your friend will have to wait a few weeks.

What do you think of this months BirchBox? Will you be purchasing this box?
