Gradient Nails-First Attempt

I’ve recently been enjoying Makeup Savvys 15 Day Nail Challenge and although I haven’t been taking part I was very inspired by her posts particularly day 10 Gradient Nails.

I had a quick look online for tutorials but didn’t find many but figured it couldn’t be that hard.  As I am away on holiday I didn’t have all the tools I would of liked and really struggled to find a sponge, I ended up using the little sponge you find inside jewellery boxes and it worked okay although I thinking using a makeup sponge would be better.

I used Essie Tart Deco as my base colour and one of my Cousins Nails Inc polishes although I think they are quite similar meaning you can hardly tell there are two colours. Overall I don’t think this was overly successful but for a first try I do think it was okay.

I can’t wait to try out some other colour combinations and improve my technique

you picked some nice colours here. I have seen gradient nails but i have never seen anybody try it with these kind of colours đŸ™‚ they look really good for a first attempt. I have always been meaning to try out gradient nails myself, but i'm always too lazy or scared that it will be a little too messy. Thanks for sharing xoxo

omg your nails are gorgeous! I tried this but my nails aren't long enough:( make up sponges are meant to be best for this because they have less holes in them in comparison to kitchen or natural sponges, looks great anyways!

I've done this a few times with a white base and two other pastel shades (usually pink and lilac). A makeup sponge definitely works better! I also always use a really shiny topcoat to smooth over the bumps the sponge makes!
