Better Than A Red Lip

bondi sands

There’s all these red lipstick quotes, Coco Chanel apparently said ‘If you’re sad, add some more red lipstick and attack’ but I  just don’t really get it. I think red lipstick is great at making me look a little more put together or like I’ve actually made an effort, but no beauty items has such a big affect on my mood and appearance as fake tan.

When I’m feeling a little down, it’s cold outside or I just want to feel and look a little better I always reach for a bottle of fake tan. It’s something I really look forward to and it changes my mood massively. It makes my skin more event, adds a great glow and even makes me look a little slimmer.

I think fake tan is potentially even scarier for people than a red lip is, which is saying something as I know a red lip can be very scary, and although I understand I think it’s an unnecessary fear. Once upon a time tan use to be orange and often result in a patchy applications but now with just a little practice and the right fake tan I think it can be mood changing and potentially life changing. I know that’s such a big claim but it totally changes my mood and even my outlook on life!

I’ve tried lots and lots of fake tans, found some really good ones that I reach for on different occasions but absolute favourite and the one I reach for a few times a week is . I switch between the dark and light although I am currently using the light as I find it adds a lovely light glow.

This seems like a slightly pointless post but what I’m trying to say is that fake tan shouldn’t be scary. If you are missing your summer tan give it a go, I think the positives massively outweigh the negatives. I mentioned earlier last month my real struggle with grey winters in London and I really feel fake tan helps combat that, since London doesn’t seem to be hitting 20C anytime soon, I will be staying quite attached to my bottle of tan.

Don’t get me wrong a real tan makes me even happier but that’s currently not an option and at least this way I’m not exposing myself to sun damage.

What beauty product makes you happiest?

    Hi Sabrina,

I totally agree with this!! Everything is so much better with a tan. I have only just got into regularly applying fake tan and now find it so easy. Just thought I’d leave a comment also to say that I love your blog!

Fake tan definitely scares me a lot more than having a red lip. I’m so pale that I’d be terrified of going to dark and looking ridiculous. My eyeliner is probably the beauty product that makes me happiest!

I’m totally with you… As a devoted fake tan fan for probably half my life I know exactly what you mean! As a natural pasty white English Rose 🙂 summer holidays used to fill me with dread knowing how pale I’d look next to my older sister with her ability to tan in minutes… Obvs I made the rookie mistakes at first (forgetting to exfoliate, fake tan hands etc.) but I’ve learned how to perfect it over the years… Fake tanning to me is equal to applying make up: it makes me feel healthier, more confident and ready to take on the world! I must have tried nearly every product out there but my all-time fave product has to be xen-tan (the spray or mousse). It’s a natural bronze colour not orange in the slightest, has a subtle pleasant scent and although more pricey than others out there… It LASTS so is definitely worth it. Haven’t actually tried Bondi Sands so I’m going to give it a go 🙂
So I’m definitely a fake tan fan. For me actual sun tans are not an option (the health risks definitely outweigh the benefits) so faking it is the way to go!

I really want to try the Bondi Sands range especially the dark mousse as it’s a cheaper version of the St Tropez one and I want to see if it does the job just as well.
I’ve not tried a lotion before I’m a bit scared but I’m sure it’s more or less the same application as a mousse.

I’m definitely still scared of fake tan. It’s why I usually either use a body lotion with a touch of self tan like the Dove Summer Glow or mix a bit of fake tan into my body lotion.

I really want to try this fake tan! I usually use the St Moriz one as it’s so affordable and for the price it actually looks quite good! But yes, putting fake tan on makes me so much happier, need to start doing it again!
