Other than the essential pre-holiday beauty treatments my favourite has to be false eyelashes, it’s the only time I ever get them throughout the year but I really find it to be a must for a summer get away. This year I went to Perfect Lashes in Kensington for my holiday lashes and was really impressed.

It was my third time getting lashes so I knew exactly what I wanted; just a little extra length, more of a curl and an extra bit of thickness and that’s exactly what I got. The girl doing my lashes took the time to find out exactly what I wanted and was able to give me just that. The treatment although is a little long as always was comfortable and when I opened my eyes I was very impressed with the results but I believe that the real test is in how they wear.

They were perfect for three weeks (photo above towards the start of week 3) and even when I did decide to wear mascara they still looked great. Even now almost 6 weeks later I have a few still in but they don’t look tatty and often get asked if they’re real as I still get a lot of volume from them.

I’m very impressed by Perfect Eyelashes and I have already recommended it to my friends, I was able to get exactly what I wanted and they’ve lasted really well. It made my holiday beauty routine much easier and I loved being able to go in the water at the pool and beach without worrying about waterproof mascara but still have very defined eyes.

Since I was going away for 4 weeks I felt
it was essential for me to get my hair cut and coloured beforehand. I’ve had my
hair done in Portugal before and it’s always ended in tears so that was
something I was going to deal with again.
Since I loved my hair cut and colour last
time I went back to ColourNation but this time to Lucia. I had a consultation a
few days before which I found very useful, we talked though photos I had,
possible colours and how we could get what I wanted to work on my hair.
I was after just a little bit of a touch up
on the baliage I already had but a little darker on top and a little lighter on
the bottom so there was more of a difference between the two colours. We
settled on colours before hand, which Lucia logged all ready for next week.
I think colouring your hair is always a
little scary, the reason I like ColourNation is because that’s what they’re
famous for and most people in salon are getting their hair coloured. I was also
made to feel very at ease by Lucia and felt that she knew exactly what I
Last week and after a few hours in Salon I
left with newly refreshed hair, lighter ends and darker roots just how I had
asked. Oh and a great blow dry!
Very happy with my hair and I look forward
to going back to Lucia, I’m thinking dark for the winter maybe?

Do you colour your hair? If so, are you
always a little nervous before hand?

Last Wednesday, the day before my holiday I went into Ministry of Waxing for compulsory pre-holiday waxing; full leg and bikini. Admittedly I shave more than I should and waxing is very painful!

The decor in Ministry of Waxing is a little different to most waxing places but I quite like it and everyone was very nice, especially the therapist who made me feel very comfortable. I had heard that the wax the use means it isn’t as painful and although I was a little sceptical I think I would have to agree. It still hurts but slightly less. I was very impressed by how clean the whole salon was and I was told that if the hair wasn’t long enough they would be able to do it incase it cause ingrown hairs which I thought was quite nice to be warned about.

I also love the little stress hippo you get if the pain does get a little too much.

Overall it was quick and slightly less painful experience than anywhere else I have been and would highly recommend it if you are looking for a waxing salon although they are quite pricey! (talking £90+ for Full leg and Hollywood)

If you would like the opportunity to also have a waxing treatment of your choice done and Ministry Of Waxing follow the Rafflecopter below. UK Only and you must live close enough to a Ministry of Waxing or be willing to travel. 18+ Only.

What are your waxing essentials before going away?

Eyebrows are super important which is why I have a few post coming up later in the week all about them. I personally don’t enjoy doing my own eyebrows, I find it now only to be boring but a little risky and I would much rather let someone that does them day in, day out take care of them.

Finding someone you can trust can be a little difficult so it’s worth asking friends and family for recommendation but I don’t think higher price means more skill. You will also need to decide on what you want as not everywhere offers waxing, threading and tinting.

I always get my eyebrows either waxed or threaded as I find tweezing far more time consuming and unnecessarily painful. I personally don’t have a huge preference and would recommend either although I find threading more painful. They both remove even thick hair fairly efficiently although threading can be done more often and lots of people think it offers a more defined shape whereas many believe waxing lasts a little longer.

I personally would only get tweezing done in the salon if it is right at the end to tidy up any that the Wax or Threading missed. I also always request that they trim my brows and I really find that this helps to keep them neat.

I feel like eyebrow tinting still remains somewhat of a brow secret so if you haven’t tried it you simply must! Even through I have very dark eyebrows I find it really helps define the brows and picks up on hairs you would otherwise not have been able to see.

Before agreeing to getting your eyebrows done it’s worth discussing what they are going to do and what you personally would like. For example I always simply ask for them to be tidied, left fairly thick, tinted and trimmed. It can be a little daunting but once you find someone you trust you’ll have the best brows.

So where to go? In London I would recommend Nails & Brows (review here), Browhaus (review here) and also quite like the Benefit Brow Bars (review here) which are available nationwide. I’ve had some great local salons do my eyebrows too but asking for recommendations from friends is the best way to go about this I think.

Later in the week I will be sharing my top DIY brow tips and my favourite eyebrow products.

Which method do you like when getting your eyebrows done in salon?

Last week I was invited down to Nails & Brows in Mayfair for a Brow Makeover which I was in desperate need of after my eyebrows went a little ginger after my lightening treatment.

The salon itself is situated on Berkeley St, which is in walking distance from Oxford Street, Green Park and Regents Street making it very easy to get to. The decor is completely what I like, very white, luxurious and modern but still very pretty. I instantly felt very welcomed and was offered a drink whilst I waited a short time for my appointment.

The lady doing my eyebrows was even more friendly we spoke about not only eyebrows but lots of beauty topics which instantly put me at ease. As much as I loved my darker brows we both agreed that since they were ginger I would need to go dark again, so she tinted them to a slightly more ashy colour before moving on to waxing. I chose waxing simply because I don’t find it as painful and I’ve heard people say the results last longer (I suspect this isn’t true). She then trimmed them a little before moving onto the brow product, she took the time to carefully explain how I could create the appearance of a higher arch and although she said that she love the product I didn’t feel pushed to buy it which was quite refreshing.

Although at first I was a little shocked by how dark they were (always a little too dark on the first day of tinting) I think… and this is a big statement… it’s one of the best brow treatment’s I have ever had. The shape was perfect and she really made the most out of my eyebrows, it was also nice that she was so friendly.

(please excuse the little hair that had fallen out of place- I hadn’t noticed)

That said £40 (price list here) is a little more than I would usually pay for my eyebrows but I would recommend checking out Nails & Brows if you are struggling with your brows and want someone that really knows what they are doing or for occasional visits when you have a special occasion or need some brow TLC.
