What to do on a Cold Weekend

As the weather gets colder (and today is freezing!) I am always looking for new things to do that don’t involve being outside/getting cold. I thought today I would share what I have done the last two weekend and I think they’re two very different activities.

When I first asked my friends to go to bingo I almost got a laugh and the obligatory ‘Bingo! How old are you?!’ but they agreed anyways and we headed down to GalaBingo. I’ve actually been wanting to go to Bingo for a while as my old work mates really loved it. We arrived, collected our books and entered the big hall. There was a surprising mix of people from the expected elderly to families and quite a lot of young couples. As I had never been to Bingo I was surprised by the real fast pace and how on the ball you must be. I can see why people get addicted and before we left we had already agreed to return soon. We left empty handed but had filled out tummies with hot dogs and had a really good time.

I’d been wanting to go to an outside cinema for a while but they usually happen in August whilst I am away but jumped at the chance to go to a drive-in cinema as it isn’t very common in London. I booked for Grease as it just seems to be the perfect Drive-in film, packed my cousins and friend into my car and drove down to Brent Cross. When we arrived we were shown to a parking space and told to tune into their radio station before the film started. We also picked up Nachos and Hot Dogs from Route 66 (theres an Indian place too) before the film started as we hadn’t had lunch and I promise you the hot dogs were much nicer than they looked! There are also people skating around the car park which come to you on roller skates when you flash your car lights to take orders during the film. Prices are really reasonable for food and with a car (you can even take a 7-seater) costing just £22 it is very affordable. Once the film started we made our way through some more snacks and had a really good sing song as did everyone else in the other cars.
If you do attend, arrive early to get a good parking space but I think you’d still enjoy even if you are further back. I’d love to go to see another film and they have a great selection of films from children films to more serious ones but you will need to book soon as they seem to be selling out soon.

What have you got planned over the next few weekend? Has anyone got any recommendation of things to do in London particularly for Bombfire Night?

Me and my besties love a bit of bingo too. I used to think it was just little old grannies that went. But it's true there is quite a mix of people. And you really do need to be on the ball when they are calling out the numbers.

I'm defo gonna try that drive in cinema, I've always wanted to do that 🙂
