Better Than Roses: Valentine’s Ideas


With just a few days until Valentine Day I thought I would share my picks of products that are just that little bit more exciting than the classic roses (which are nice as an extra, of course). These are perfect as a gift to yourself but even better if you manage to drop a few hints to your other half.

 In my opinion jewellery is always a nice present and I always look for something expensive enough which won’t break the bank. Lola & Grace is great for items like this as they are great quality but won’t cost you a weeks wage. This dainty heart necklace and bracelet are great but they have lots of different options if you aren’t looking for something themed.

Alternatively if you do want something cheap and cheerful/an extra every woman (and most men) love chocolates and I am absolutely addicted to the Tesco’s Finest Praline Hearts, somehow they are even better than Lindt Lindor!

 Of course I have to feature some good old beauty products in this post. If you are looking for a really special gift that they probably don’t have but isn’t terribly expensive my first pick would be the Clinique and Lulu Guinness Collaboration which I have blogged about. Other than that a Chanel (or other high end brand) lipstick is always perfect and a real treat weather as a gift from someone or from yourself; if you don’t know what colour to buy I think a red is always a good option. The was actually a gift and I love it; it’s the perfect red in the colour Incandescente.

For something rose scented as a present to yourself I’d recommend checking out the which not only smells amazing but is a really hydrating product. Alternatively have great skincare products from to their famous . Don’t forget to keep your lip soft and kiss-ready with the Burt’s Bees Honey Bee favourites.

Underwear is always a nice present both to wear and look at, recently I have been loving Boux Avenue as their size range is good even for bigger busts (I’m a 32FF which is often hard to find) they are affordable but good quality. I’ve had my eye on this set in particular for a while and I am surprised by just how comfortable it is!

I’ve also put together a quick Valentines Manicure post using Nailtiques Tahiti which is the perfect pink that applied perfectly in just one coat.

If you are looking to purchase a perfume DKNY have released some great new scents in their be delicious range; Ultra Violet and Rooftop Peony are perfect. I also really like L’Occitane Cerisier Rouge which is a beautiful cherry, sweet scent.

    I made a Hannah Hoch inspired 'gal'entines day card for all my best friends, featuring Kate and a medieval knight. Not likely to get a v-day present this year though…. slightly ironic when I live and work in a building that looks like sleeping beauty's castle!
