Smashbox Full Exposure Palette

My palette collection has really expanded over the last couple of months, with my newest one being the Smashbox Full Exposure Palette- however a quick look on line shows that this palette actually has really mixed reviews but lets get down to business…

The Smashbox Full Exposure Palette is made up of fourteen shadows; 7 matte and 7 shimmery. It comes with a double ended brush and a mini mascara too. I haven’t tried the mascara but I like the double ended brush, which I forgot to photograph. The reason I was quite excited about it is that it’s been compared to the Lorac Pro palette which everyone seems to rave about and I love the mixture of mattes or shimmery- it’s probably my palette with the most mattes too.

The matte colours are beautifully buttery, pigmented and blendable for a really wearable look. There is also a perfect highlight colour and I do often like to mix in a darker shimmery colour. However, the shimmery colours aren’t quite as pigment or as creamy as the rest which really lets this palette down, you get more glitter than actual colour. I feel that as it is the run up to Christmas I am really embracing the shimmery shades (which are actually more glittery) and layering them on top of the matte colours but I would probably not want quite as much glitter during the rest of the year.

I also noticed that I hadn’t got much use out of the final six shades on the right as they are a little cooler toned that I usually go but I like that the option is there especially as none of the shades are very cool or very warm making it a quite versatile palette for everyone.

Although this palette has it’s drawbacks I still really like it and have used it religiously for a few weeks now. It’s not a groundbreaking palette and you may have something similar already but I still think it’s a good neutral palette. It still isn’t quite as good as my Urban Decay Naked palette but it still has a home in my collection and I’m interested to see how long it will hold my attention for- will it make my November favourites?

This palette is available from Boots for £37

I love the shades in here however I don't think I would buy it when I have the Naked palettes!

Looks like a lot of fab colours, but I'm with Jodie, my Naked 3 is still holding out!

Disappointed that the shimmery shades aren't as pigmented as the matte shades. I got the Wonder Vision Mega palette last year and it's amazing! I still use it at least once a week and my favourite colour of blush is inside it.

I blogged about this palette some time back and faced the same issues with the shimmery shades. I had hope for better quality. The mattes are lovely though.

Looks like a lovely palette, and contains a lot of light shades for bright eye looks! However, does that shade on the top right, second in not really bother you? :')

As serious as fashion can be, there’s no denying it’s also a form of entertainment, and sometimes that entertainment comes not with clothes, but with words spoken by people who’ve had an impact on the industry. Whether it’s Coco Chanel and her worldly wisdom, Marc Jacobs talking about his propensity for making “real” clothes, or Simon Doonan sounding off about, well, anything, the best fashion ones that say so much with a few short words. I think that palette is absolutely gorgeous! I've only ever heard great things about this palette, and how buttery the eyeshadows are! 🙂 xx

My current go to palette is the Stila In The Light palette, as I just love the shades in there so much, especially the shimmery ones.
