I really had no idea what to call this post or even how to go about writing it but it’s something I’ve always wanted to write a little bit about, ever since starting my blog a good few years ago.
I’ve been blessed or cursed (which ever way you want to see it) with a bigger bust (typically a 32FF), it’s never really bothered me as I think they fit proportionately to the rest of my body but buying bras that fit has always been a bit of a challenge.
The first thing I have to recommend is getting measured, every time I try a new place I get measured! Your bra size is likely to change depending on your weight, hormones, age and simply because our bodies change. A good bra is always essential, bra fitting services are free and most places offer it. I promise it’s not at all scary!
Many years ago I use to love La Senza, they were great until they got bought out and no longer stock my size nor do I quite understand the whole sizing concept. Everyone tells me to go to Marks & Spencer and they do have beautiful bras but I think the fact they also have some not so nice ones has put me off a little bit especially as I find they only have a handful of nice ones in my size.
My most recent discoveries have been Next and Rigby & Peller both very different but great for anyone looking for a bra thats a DD+.
I’ll start with Next who have really upped their game in almost everything recently, I use to think of Next as a shop my mum might shop at but all my friends have been raving about their clothes and homewear section whilst I’ve been raving about their underwear. I’ve got the Lizzie and Phoebe designs which are both very different but excellent quality, affordable and really comfortable. I find the whole range to be the perfect balance of sexy and practical.
Onto Rigby & Peller which are more of a luxury brand and a store I’d never been in because I thought it was too expensive. When I went in I did find it to be more expensive than highstreet stores but not quite as expensive as I imagined, it’s largely still affordable although I would probably just buy a few staple piece instead of all my underwear.
The quality of the bras is really what you pay for, theres a great attention to detail, the materials are all luxurious and I love almost every style they carry. They even taylor underwear so if they don’t have your size in the exact bra you want you can get one altered to fit! I picked up a beautiful black lace one from Maison Lejaby which is one of the prettiest bras I own and a Simone Perele one which is the most comfortable one I own, I would happily wear it every single day!
Since it’s party season I have to also recommend the Wonderbra Strapless bra, I wouldn’t bother with anything else. All other strapless bras don’t offer me enough lift, are uncomfortable and really flatten my boobs but this does the opposite. I’ve had a few of these over the years and they’re excellent!
PS. I also like Ann Summers, they also have lovely great comfy items not just the kinky stuff.
Thanks for such a helpful post, and the kind I’ve always wished I had the guts to write myself. Being 32F, my concerns are the exact same as yours. I buy the majority of mine from M&S, but it’s good to hear of other places that stock nice ones for my size. I think I’ll be having a look into those for sure.
