Summer Bold Lip

When it comes to makeup shopping I think Boots has to be one of the best stores to go to. The mixture of high end and affordable products is perfect, plus they have some really exciting new brands (Hello Fenty!) You can treat yourself to a Chanel Bronzer or experiment with a super affordable lipstick and there is something a little magical about that which most other retailers don’t offer.

I thought today I would share with you some highlights from Boots and also my current go-to makeup products for the summer. I love summer makeup, especially the bold colours and the glitter makeup but today’s look is quite glowy and natural as the focus really is the bold lip!

As it’s summer I’ve been trying to keep my face out of the sun and I’ve been reaching for SPF daily but in order to keep the colour of my face matching my body I’ve been opting for the Isle of Paradise Self Tanning Drops. I add them to any oil I’m using over night once or twice a week and it really adds a natural bronze to my skin that I love, without any sun damage.

For my base I’ve been reaching for the Ole Henriksen Banana Bright Face Primer. It adds a dewy, healthy glow under makeup whilst also extending makeup wear. On top of that I’ve been opting for the IT Cosmetics CC Cream, I initially was a little worried about using the Matte Version as I have dry skin and like a dewy finish but actually this is a really beautiful foundation which doesn’t look cakey or dry but lasts all day. An extra plus for the IT Cosmetics CC Cream is that it has SPF40, which is super important in the summer months.

I’ve recently been giving Fenty Beauty a try, which is now available at Boots! The Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Concealer has been the stand out product for me, it isn’t too heavy but does a great job of covering under eye darkness and adding a little life and brightness to the face.

When it comes to cheek and eyes I like to often use the same products, especially if I am going for a bold lip. I’ve used the Sun Stalk’r Instant Warmth Bronzer all over the eye for a neutral but polished eye and over the cheeks for a bronzed look. I’ve teamed that with the Bourjois Le Petit Strober on the highpoint of my cheeks and in the inner corner of my eye. I’ve skipped blush on my cheeks but opted for the Benefit Roller Liner on my eyes which has been my go-to as it doesn’t smudge, even in hot weather, with a layer of No7 Extreme Length Waterproof Mascara which I love as it holds a curl really very well!

To set the makeup a little Fenty Beauty Pro Filt’r Instant Retouch Setting Powder great; it doesn’t look too cakey and matte but really hold makeup in place and gets rid of too much shine. As well as little Benefit Precisely My Brow to fill in a little sparseness.

I love a red lip all year round but in the summer I love a more orangey red such as this Bourjous Velvet Lip Pencil in Amuse Rouge It’s such a fun, vibrant colour however it is very easy to apply and comfortable to wear. The whole range of these is great and they have some great nudes but this is my stand out for the summer.

When it comes to nails I recently left gel manicures behind and decided to start painting my own nails for a while. I absolutely love the new Sally Hansen Neon range but I’ve been reaching for the Sally Hansen Miracle Gel polish in ‘O-Zone you didn’t’ the most. Sally Hansen also have a spray on top coat which is a game changer- so quick and easy!

And if you’re wondering what perfume I’ve been opting for it’s the Viktor & Rolf Flowerbomb Bloom, I’ve decided that this will be my fragrance of summer 2019. It’s fruity and floral and exactly what I want to smell of in the summer!

What is your go-to makeup look? What is your favourite bold lipstick this summer?
