Michael Kors Makeup: First Impressions

I was patiently waiting for the launch of Michael Kors Makeup in the UK (now I’m waiting for Marc Jacobs!) so am very excited to now have my hands on a few bits! I won’t talk too much about the nail polishes as I will be featuring them in a Manicure Monday post very soon.

The first thing I noticed when I unpackaged these products was the packaging. Everything comes in a white and gold box which I really don’t love, it looks a little cheap from a highend brand. That said we usually just throw that away and the bottles and compacts are much more beautiful. The perfume, nail polishes and dry oil body shimmer come in a far more luxurious thick glass container whereas although I think the bronzer and lipgloss look expensive I think the materials used aren’t quite as weighty as I had hoped. I am a lover of all thinks gold so I adore the colour scheme and the bolt-like/hardwear on the packaging.

It’s part of their collection which is ‘Sometimes Sporty. Always Sexy. And never afraid to be Glam’ which sounds perfect and suppose to be used to create bronze skin, bold nails and beautiful lips.

By far the product I was the most excited about was the perfume, I believe that Michael Kors has released three and this one is . It has notes of White Flowers, Amber and Sandalwood and I really like it. It’s quite a grown up, sexy, nighttime scent and although you don’t need a lot of sprays it isn’t overpowering. I’ve read a few negative reviews of this perfume but I haven’t stopped using it. I wouldn’t recommend carrying this one around in your bag though as I have already managed to scratch the lid which is very disappointing(but my own fault I guess). I can’t wait to try the other scents too, I also fell in love with Glam Jasmine in store!

(Wearing only the bronzer in the above photo)
On to the makeup- I found the to be a little disappointing. The packaging doesn’t feel great and it’s drying but the colour Muse is a beautiful colour but I’d still love to try the lipsticks. however is a great product; there are three different colours Sport Glow, Sexy Flush and Glam Beam which all come in pretty large (but plastic, boo) gold packaging.  I have the colour Beam (seen on cheeks above) which is a beautiful slightly more copper shade with copper shimmer running through it. This bronzer blends beautifully but due to the pigmentation/shimmer I would recommend using a light hand and building the colour up.

I will be doing a Manicure Monday Post very soon with these three nail polishes but how pretty do they look?!

The scariest product of all had to be the Liquid Shimmer Dry Oil and although it’s a product I probably wouldn’t buy I’ve been loving it down the front of my legs as it adds a really pretty glow, it’s a great light-weight versatile oil.

Have you tried any Michael Kors products? Which product has caught your eye?

The brand Michael Kors is doing so well with the pretty watches and handbags. I do love the brand alot and although i'm not a big fan of their fragrance, the make-up looks quite good. The nail polish shades are really pretty. The bronzer looks nice on you~ however, i tend to avoid products with too many shimmer particles. Not a huge fan of the packaging of these make-up products~ I think i may give these a miss really.

Thank you for sharing your opinions on these make-up products! Have a great day <3

The shimmer oil looks really interesting! Does it show up so orange when you wear it? It seems like such a luxurious product!

Oh I love that bronzer–it actually looks like a bronzer/blush hybrid which makes it a perfect "one sweep" product for the cheeks!

the bronzer looks amazing – you rocked it in those pictures!! i agree the whole gold and white scheme is a bit cheap/tacky… just all gold would have worked better. nonetheless these products look really promising. i hope they come to asia soon 🙂

The products look so luxe it's a shame the packaging is actually plastic. I'm not overly excited by the makeup either, all this shimmer is bordering on tacky for me, but that's just personal preference. I have one of his older fragrances 'Hollywood' which I absolutely adore so very intrigued by these new ones!

I too am soooooo excited about the Marc Jacobs makeup though and hope it's released here soon, though it's doubtful I'll have any money when it is. There's a brush I have my heart set on.
